Whittington believes he can play power forward and center this season, Vigilant Sports reports.

Whittington has spent the offseason slimming down in order to play in coach Frank Vogel's uptempo offense. Depending on the matchup, the 6-foot-11 center believes he can shift down to power forward given his ability to guard wings on defensive switches. He's also confident in his touch from the perimeter, a shot he's rarely unleashed during his time in the D-League and summer league. Whittington is one of President Larry Bird's favorite players on the team, and that alone should offer the sophomore plenty of opportunities, a la Solomon Hill circa the 2014-15 season.

Whittington agreed to a one-year, guaranteed deal with the Pacers, Shams Charania of RealGM reports.

Whittington did not receive a qualifying offer from the Pacers at the end of June and proceeded to participate on their summer league team. Through two contests, he averaged 12.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in 27 minutes per game. During his rookie season, Whittington played 20 games and averaged 2.9 points in 5.4 minutes per game. With Roy Hibbert and David West's minutes available, the 6-foot-11 power forward has a chance to crack the rotation. He's trimmed down from 251 pounds to 227 pounds in anticipation of playing in an uptempo offense this season.

Whittington is averaging 12.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 0.5 steals starting in 27 minutes through the Pacers' first two Orlando Summer League games.

Whittington is seeing significant minutes in Orlando as the Pacers are looking to revitalize a frontcourt that saw the departure of Roy Hibbert and David West this offseason. The 24-year-old center offers great size but still needs time to develop after bouncing back and forth between the Pacers and their D-League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, last season.

Whittington did not receive a qualifying offer from the Pacers, making him an unrestricted free agent, NBA.com reports.

Whittington could still be re-signed by the Pacers. He's currently practicing with their summer league squad.

Whittington averaged 2.9 points, 0.3 assists, 1.5 rebounds, 0.3 steals, and 0.1 blocks in five minutes per game for 20 regular season games in 2014-15. He is a restricted free agent this summer.

The undrafted rookie out of Western Michigan saw limited action in the NBA. Utilized as an emergency depth player, Whittington bounced back and forth between the NBA and D-League throughout the season. He has a qualifying offer with the Pacers for 2015-16. Unless Whittington can find more minutes for himself, he's an afterthought in fantasy.

Whittington has been assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the D-League, Scott Agness of Vigilant Sports reports.

With the Pacers on the road for two games, Whittington will head to Fort Wayne, where he'll have a chance to get some run after riding the bench for Indiana.

Whittington has not played in seven of the Pacers last eight games.

Whittington was called up from the D-League in late January to serve as a emergency backup to Roy Hibbert and Ian Mahinmi. He has played sparingly since then besides filling in for Mahinmi when he was out for a few games in February. With a healthy Hibbert and Mahinmi, it is unlikely that Whittington will be able to crack the rotation on a consistent basis.

Whittington was recalled by the Pacers on Friday and is expected to be available for Saturday's game against the Kings.

Whittington was recalled to provide emergency depth off the bench Saturday. As a result, the rookie is not expected to see extended playing time against the Kings, or even at a later date this season.

Whittington was assigned to Fort Wayne of the D-League on Wednesday.

Whittington, an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan, has appeared in 13 games this season but has seen the vast majority of his minutes in garbage time. He'll head to Fort Wayne, where he'll have an opportunity to play bigger minutes on a daily basis.

Whittington hasn't played in four games for the Pacers and has only appeared in 12 games this season.

His fantasy value continues to be minimal and he will plummet even further as Ian Mahinmi returned recently.

Whittington has only played in two games for the Pacers this season.

Even with all the injuries in Indiana, Whittington still isn't able to accumulate much time on the court. As a result, he's better left on the waiver wire unless things change in favor of the 23-year-old as the season continues.

Whittington (leg) won't play Saturday against the Mavericks

Whittington has been reportedly dealing with a sore leg, but his absence Saturday is simply listed as rest by the team. It doesn't appear as if the leg injury is bothering him anymore as he battles for a spot on the Pacers' roster.

Whittington will miss Friday's exhibition with a sore left leg, the Indianapolis Star's Candace Buckner reports.

He went 5-for-5 from the field in his preseason debut, but will rest Friday as he has been dealing with soreness in his previously broken leg all through camp.

The rookie wasn't kicked in the same spot where he broke his leg, so his absence on Friday was likely just precautionary. Undrafted out of Western Michigan, the 6-10 center will need to be on the court as much as possible during training camp to make the Pacers' final roster.

Whittington (leg) expects to be physically ready for the Pacers' first day of training camp, Candace Buckner of the Indianapolis Star reports.

Whittington was held out of Summer League action while rehabbing a broken fibula, but the 6-foot-10 center doesn't expect to be limited for the start of training camp. He may be a long shot to make the final roster, but with Ian Mahinmi (shoulder) expected to miss the start of camp, Whittington will serve as an extra big body in the post. He should see plenty of opportunities to expand his skill set while matched up against starting center Roy Hibbert.
