LAS VEGAS (AP) — Trips to Las Vegas feel better when they end on a win.The consolation round of the NBA Summer League gave teams a chance to experience that Friday. They had already been eliminated from the chance to win the tournament championship, but at least some can head to the airport on a high note.Many of the top performers on the teams who played Friday were already done for the week, sitting out the games so as not to risk injuries.The winners' bracket of the tournament resumes with six second-round games Saturday.Friday's results:SUNS 90, SPURS 55Phoenix blew open the game by outscoring the Spurs 29-9 in the second quarter to finish 4-1.No. 1 pick Deandre Ayton rested along with second-year forward Josh Jackson. Javonte Green led Phoenix with 20 points. Cleveland forward LeBron James remains idle due to a sore back and there are doubts he will be ready when the Cavaliers open the NBA season on Tuesday against the Chicago Bulls.James hasn't practiced since Oct. 13, when he received an anti-inflammatory injection in his back. But the four-time MVP remains hopeful he will be on the court for the opener despite the fact he hasn't been cleared by the team's medical staff."If everything goes right," James told reporters in reference to whether he will play. "We feel like we're progressing really well and if we can continue to do that, then I'm optimistic that I'll be able to go." Meanwhile, Cleveland trimmed its roster to 16 by waiving the following four players: forward Austin Daye, guard/forward D.J. Stephens, guard Dionte Christmas and forward Jack Cooley.

The Cleveland Cavaliers signed forward/center Jack Cooley to a contract Saturday.The 6-foot-10, 250-pound Cooley, who went undrafted out of Notre Dame in 2013, appeared in 16 games for the Utah Jazz last season. He also played in 20 games for the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League, averaging 16.8 points on .572 shooting, 12.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 30.8 minutes per game. Cooley, 24, played on the Cavs 2014 Summer League team.In a related move, the Cavs waived center Chris Johnson, who appeared in four preseason games for the Cavs.
