The Los Angeles Lakers waived guard Jabari Brown on Monday.Brown, who was signed to a multi-year contract on April 1, appeared in six games for the Lakers this preseason, averaging 6.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game. In 19 games (five starts) for the Lakers last season, Brown averaged 11.9 points, 2.1 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 29.9 minutes per game. The Lakers' roster now stands at 15.

Brown played in three Summer League games, starting two as a small forward and one at shooting guard for the Lakers. He averaged 17.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.0 steal in 30 minutes per game.

Brown led all scorers for the Lakers throughout Summer League but didn't contribute much in other areas. Last year, he stepped up at the end of the season when the Lakers were fighting off injuries. Unless this reoccurs, he will likely fight for bench minutes. His contract for the 2015-16 season is non-guaranteed.

Brown (eye) made his summer league debut after missing the first two games due to a laceration in his left eye. He supplied a team-high 20 points (5-14 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 8-11 FT), three steals, and one rebound in 28 minutes against the Knicks' summer league squad.

Brown emerged late in the 2014-15 season and garnered playing time on an injured Lakers roster. In 19 games, all played post-All-Star break, Brown compiled 11.9 points, 2.1 assists, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.2 three-pointers in 29.9 minutes per game. His contract is unguaranteed this upcoming season, and playing time will likely be sporadic in the Lakers' backcourt.

Brown is expected to miss the first two games of the Las Vegas Summer League after being poked in the left eye during practice, Baxter Holmes of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Brown will likely come off the bench when he returns to action this Monday. During the 2014-15 season, he was the D-League's leading scorer at 24.4 points per game, and he capped off the year by averaging 14.8 points per game in April for the injury-riddled Lakers. Should he survive summer league and training camp, minutes will be hard to come by for the 6-foot-4 guard.

Brown signed with the Lakers late in the 2014-15 campaign, but logged heavy minutes down the stretch with the Lakers' backcourt players going down at an alarming rate. The rookie guard averaged 11.9 points, 1.2 three-pointers, 1.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.6 steals in 30 minutes through 19 games, shooting 41 percent from the field on 8.9 attempts and 75 percent from the line on 4.5 attempts. The Lakers hold a team option for Brown for next season.

In his 19 games since signing with the Lakers in March 2015, Brown actually started the final five games of the season when Jeremy Lin and Wes Johnson were injured. In that five game stretch, Brown averaged 19.8 points, 1.6 three-pointers and 3.6 assists in a whopping 42 minutes, proving that he wasn't not out of his depth at NBA level. With the return of Kobe Bryant and the possibility of the Lakers drafting another guard with their lottery pick, Brown's fantasy value for next season remains murky and it's unlikely he approaches anything close to what he was doing in the season's final five games again in the new season.

Brown went off for 32 points (9-19 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 10-11 FT), three rebounds, two assists and two steals over 48 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Kings.

With not enough healthy bodies in the backcourt, Brown ended up playing the entire game Wednesday. He took advantage of the minutes, posting a career-high of 32 points, while also converting on a career-high of 10 free throw attempts. The rookie really came to play at the end of the season and did a fantastic job of making his case for an increased role next season. Over his last four games, he averaged an impressive 22.0 points and 4.5 assists.

Brown scored 18 points (6-17 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT) with seven assists and two rebounds in 46 minutes during Monday's loss to the Kings.

He continues to see big minutes effectively by default given the injuries to the Lakers' backcourt, and Brown is now averaging 16.8 points, 4.0 assists, 2.8 boards and 1.0 threes over the last four games as a result. He should be a solid fantasy play on Wednesday in the team's regular season finale, against Sacramento once again.

Brown posted 20 points, three rebounds, and seven assists in 38 minutes of action Friday against the Timberwolves.

Brown's strong performance came out of nowhere, as the guard has been averaging just 9.3 points and 1.5 assists this season. He's getting a heavy load of minutes at his disposal, but if anything, he probably won't contribute much other than scoring. His seven assists Friday is an anomaly, but he has the potential to score in double-digits moving forward.

Brown will make another start Friday against the Timberwolves, Mark Medina of the LA Daily News reports.

Jeremy Lin (knee) will miss another game, so Brown will join Jordan Clarkson in the Lakers' starting backcourt. In 34 minutes as the starter Wednesday, Brown struggled, putting up 11 points and four rebounds while shooting just 3-of-12 from the field. He'll have a more favorable matchup Friday, but he remains a risky daily play, despite the fact that he'll likely see 30-plus minutes.

Brown started at shooting guard for the injured Jeremy Lin (Knee) and scored 11 points (3-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT) with four rebounds in 34 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Nuggets.

Brown has averaged 29.8 minutes of playing time over his last five games, but is averaging nine points and one three-pointer. He should be left on the waiver wire in anything up to 14 team leagues.

Brown will start in place of Jeremy Lin (knee) on Wednesday against Denver, Mike Bresnahan of the L.A Times reports.

The Lakers announced that they signed Brown to a "multi-year deal," which essentially means Brown will remain with the team through the rest of the season with an unguaranteed deal for 2015-16. The former Missouri standout is averaging 9.4 points on 50 percent shooting (45.8% 3Pt) since signing with the team earlier this month.

Brown scored 22 points (7-10 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT) to go along with three assists and one steal in 34 minutes Monday against Philadelphia.

The Lakers used only eight players Monday in a game that went into overtime, leaving Brown with increased playing time. He came through with a great offensive performance, but wasn't able to contribute much else. This was his first really strong game of the season, so don't get too excited yet.

Brown had seven points and an assist over 27 minutes of action Tuesday against Oklahoma City.

Brown has been getting a good bit of run lately, averaging 22.6 minutes over his last five games. Despite the extended playing time, Brown hasn't been producing enough to be a viable fantasy option, averaging 7.6 points, .8 assists, and 1.4 assists in that five game span.

Brown signed a second 10-day contract with the Lakers on Saturday.

Brown has played 20 or more minutes for the Lakers in three straight games, averaging seven points per game over the span. Those numbers won't catch anyone's attention in most fantasy leagues, so Brown would need a substantial role increase to earn fantasy consideration in most cases.

Waiting the extra day will enable the rookie to play an extra game on March 30 against the 76ers. Brown attended Friday's practice but was unable to participate since he's technically not under contract for the day.

Brown made his Lakers debut Thursday against the Knicks. He finished with seven points, two rebounds, and one assist in 18 minutes off the bench.

Brown is currently on a 10-day contract with the Lakers and will most likely be given decent minutes off the bench in the next couple of games so the Lakers can decide whether or not they want to retain his efforts beyond the first 10 days.
