CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bulls have waived guard Sean Kilpatrick.Signed in late March, Kilpatrick averaged 15.4 points in nine games for Chicago after spending time last season with the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers. The Brooklyn Nets plan to sit six players on Wednesday night in a game the Chicago Bulls need to win to clinch the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Nets announced Trevor Booker, Jeremy Lin and Brook Lopez will sit out due to rest, while injuries will sideline Quincy Acy (ankle), Joe Harris (shoulder) and Sean Kilpatrick (hamstring).The Bulls (40-41) enter the NBA's regular season's final night in a three-way fight with the Indiana Pacers (41-40) and Miami Heat (40-41) for the East's final two spots. If the Bulls win, they are in the playoffs.Should either the Bulls or Pacers lose, Miami can lock up a playoff spot with a win over the Washington Wizards.Chicago can give second-year coach Fred Hoiberg his first playoff appearance by beating the Nets (20-61). Brooklyn has the worst record in the NBA but is coming off a 107-106 win over the Bulls on Saturday."The big thing is it doesn't change our approach," Hoiberg said Wednesday morning of the Nets' players sitting. The Brooklyn Nets signed guard Sean Kilpatrick to a multi-year contract on Saturday.The deal is for two years and will include a guarantee for the 2016-17 season, according to Yahoo Sports.Kilpatrick, 26, signed the first of two 10-day contracts on Feb. 28 and the second on March 9. He has appeared in nine games with the Nets, averaging 11.9 points while shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from 3-point range in 19.1 minutes per game.In 21 career NBA games split between Brooklyn, Denver and Minnesota, Kilpatrick has averaged 7.4 points and 1.2 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game.

In five games with Brooklyn, Kilpatrick has averaged 9.4 points in 16.6 minutes per game while shooting 41 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range.Kilpatrick has scored in double figures twice, including a career-high 19 points in 26 minutes on March 5 at Minnesota.

The Denver Nuggets signed guard Sean Kilpatrick to a second 10-day contract on Saturday.The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Kilpatrick initially signed with the Nuggets on Jan. 12 and has averaged 2.3 points in four games with Denver.Kilpatrick appeared in 22 games (21 starts) for the Delaware 87ers of the NBA Development League this season, averaging 27.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.14 steals in 38.5 minutes per game.

Kilpatrick racked up 23 points (7-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three steals, two assists, and one rebound over 20 minutes in Monday's preseason win over the Bulls.

This was exactly the sort of performance Kilpatrick needs if he hopes to distinguish himself among the rest of the Pelicans' backcourt players competing for an opening night roster spot. The second-year man is averaging 12.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.7 assists over three preseason appearances.

Kilpatrick signed with the Pelicans on Thursday, the team's official site reports.

Kilpatrick, a 6-foot-4 guard out of Cincinnati, appeared in four games for the Timberwolves as a rookie during the 2014-15 season. He averaged 5.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, and one assist per game in his brief stint with Minnesota. He also played for the Santa Cruz Warriors and Delaware 87ers of the D-League throughout the 2014-15 season. He averaged 13.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and one steal per game through 44 games in the D-League. If he winds up on the Pelicans' final roster heading into the regular season, Kilpatrick will provide depth at guard, and likely won't have much fantasy value in standard leagues.

Kilpatrick was not re-signed by Minnesota after his 10-day contract expired.

Minnesota could be getting back several injured players the next two days. If not, they may be forced to sign another free agent to finish out the season.

Kilpatrick made his Timberwolves debut Thursday against the Knicks with 10 minutes off the bench.

Kilpatrick joined the Timberwolves on a 10-day contract and could actually see some decent playing time over the next few games since Minnesota is absolutely depleted with injuries at the moment. As evidence of this, Kilpatrick was one of just an eight-man rotation against the Knicks. Although it would be unlikely if Kilpatrick amounts much production seeing that he couldn't find a spot on an NBA roster until now.

Kilpatrick signed a 10-day contract with the Timberwolves on Thursday.

Given their rash of injuries, the Wolves have been granted a hardship exception to add a 16th player to the roster. Kilpatrick, a Cincinnati product, has spent the season in the D-League, appearing in 42 cumulative games for Delaware and Santa Cruz. He'll likely hold down a deep bench role and could see some immediate minutes until the Wolves' injury situation clears up.
