Wed Aug 2 202323:42Montrezl Harrell Suffers Torn ACL
Philadelphia 76ers forward Montrezl Harrell (knee) is likely done for the season after suffering an injury during a recent workout. The 29-year-old has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and meniscus after undergoing an MRI on his right knee Wednesday. This is a tough blow after Harrell recently signed a one-year deal with the Sixers. The team hasn't announced a timetable for Harrell yet. However, it's safe to assume he's going to miss all or a majority of the upcoming 2023-2024 season. That means, Paul Reed and Mo Bamba are expected to have bigger roles with Harrell likely done for the season before it begins.

Wed Jun 21 202310:34Montrezl Harrell Declines His Player Option
Philadelphia 76ers forward/center Montrezl Harrell has declined his player option and will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. Harrell had a $2.7 million option on a two-year deal. The 29-year-old played a very marginal role in 2022-23 for Philadelphia, appearing in just 57 games and averaging 11.9 minutes. He will hope to land in a much better situation for next season. And with Harrell being voted the Sixth Man of the Year just three years ago, the energetic big man should get plenty of interest in the open market.

Sun Jan 8 202314:40Montrezl Harrell Starts On Sunday
Philadelphia 76ers center Montrezl Harrell will move into the starting five for Sunday's game against the Detroit Pistons. The Sixers will be without superstar big man Joel Embiid (foot) for this contest. This doesn't appear to be serious injury, but the Sixers want to be cautious with Embiid. Harrell is averaging 18 points per game over his last two contests. He should be a strong streaming option on Sunday.

Sun Oct 9 202221:15Montrezl Harrell Misses Sunday's Practice
Philadelphia 76ers center Montrezl Harrell (ribs) was unable to suit up for Sunday's practice. It sounds like he's dealing with a minor ribs issue, but it shouldn't be something that sidelines him for very long. Harrell is currently the third string center behind Joel Embiid and Paul Reed. He signed a two-year deal with the Sixers over the offseason. The expectation is that he'll have a decent role in the rotation, but we'll see. Charles Bassey should see more action, assuming Harrell doesn't suit up for Monday's preseason contest.

Tue Sep 13 202220:47Montrezl Harrell Officially A Sixer
Free-agent forward/center Montrezl Harrell is officially a Sixer, according to a press release from the team. The deal is worth over $5 million, and the second year of the contract is a player option. The 28-year-old has an impressive resume, posting career averages of 12.9 points and 5.3 rebounds while earning the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2020. With Harrell's legal issues behind him, he'll look for a fresh start in Philly and presumably support Joel Embiid from off the bench. He may even start here and there throughout the season. Either way, Harrell should see plenty of attention from deep league fantasy managers heading into the year.

Tue Jun 14 202220:56Montrezl Harrell Facing Lengthy Prison Sentence
Upcoming free-agent center Montrezl Harrell is facing up to five years in prison after being arrested on a felony drug charge. In May, the 28-year-old was pulled over by Kentucky State police for following a vehicle too closely. During the stop, officers allegedly smelled marijuana, prompting a search of his car and revealing three pounds of marijuana stuffed inside a backpack. Harrell began the 2021-22 campaign with the Wizards before he was moved to the Hornets ahead of the deadline, where he averaged 11.4 points, 4.9 boards, and 2.0 assists throughout 25 games in Charlotte. However, with time behind bars and a league suspension potentially on the horizon, it's unlikely any team will sign him this summer, which obviously wouldn't work out in his favor from a fantasy standpoint.

Thu Feb 10 202214:34Montrezl Harrell Lands With Charlotte At Trade Deadline
Center Montrezl Harrell has reportedly been dealt to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for center Vernon Carey Jr. and point guard Ish Smith. Harrell averaged 14.1 points and 6.7 rebounds across just 24.3 minutes in 46 games for the Wizards during his first season with the franchise. But with the return of Thomas Bryant, Washington's frontcourt had begun to get crowded, paving the way for Harrell to join a Hornets group that could use his activity among the second unit. It remains to be seen how Harrell's arrival impacts the season-long viability of Mason Plumlee and P.J. Washington, but with the team currently down Gordon Hayward (ankle) and Jalen McDaniels (ankle), there should be ample minutes to go around.

Sun Jan 9 202218:01Montrezl Harrell Not Available On Sunday
Washington Wizards center Montrezl Harrell has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Orlando Magic. He has cleared the league's health and safety protocols. Although, he wasn't able to get to Orlando in time for the contest. The expectation is that Harrell will be available for the Wizards next game on Tuesday. In the meantime, Rui Hachimura and Davis Bertans (foot) will see additional playing time. Neither have much fantasy value and can likely be ignored here.

Tue Dec 28 202118:00Montrezl Harrell, Rui Hachimura Land In COVID-19 Protocols
Washington Wizards center Montrezl Harrell and power forward Rui Hachimura have been placed in the league's health and safety protocols, ruling them out indefinitely. The absence for Harrell on Tuesday against the Heat will be his first of the season, while Hachimura remains in search of his first game action in 2021-22. Harrell has scored in double figures in each of his last five outings, while also being on pace to set a new career high with 7.3 boards per game. Down two key contributors in the frontcourt, Washington is likely to rely heavily upon Daniel Gafford at the five, which elevates his DFS value for the time being.

Thu Dec 2 202109:34Montrezl Harrell Has Team-High 27 Points In Wednesday's Win
Washington Wizards forward/center Montrezl Harrell scored at will against the Timberwolves on Wednesday, shooting 11-for-12 from the field en route to a team-high 27 points in a 115-107 win. He finished 5-for-8 at the line and bagged five rebounds and three assists with two turnovers in 21 minutes. Harrell had scored just 17 total points in his previous two appearances. He went on to have a scoring slump the last time he notched 20-plus points, so hopefully, that won't happen again. Washington meets Cleveland next and also has a game versus Toronto this week. The first matchup looks pretty rough on paper, but the Raptors are struggling badly and Harrell has already had fun against them this season, averaging 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds with amazing 80 percent shooting in two games.

Tue Nov 23 202108:19Montrezl Harrell Notches A Big Double-Double Monday Night
Washington Wizards forward/center Montrezl Harrell played with real fire on Monday against Charlotte, leading the team with 24 points and 18 rebounds in a 109-103 loss. He missed just three of his 13 shots from the floor and went 4-for-5 at the charity stripe in 27 minutes off the bench. Harrell now has six double-doubles for the campaign. The 27-year-old should have fun again on the glass against Dallas on Saturday, but the next two matchups don't look too promising for him. New Orleans and Oklahoma City both have their flaws, but they're good rebounding teams, especially the Pelicans, who boast the seventh-highest rebounding rate in the league.

Fri Nov 12 202120:47Washington Removes Montrezl Harrell From Injury Report
Washington Wizards center Montrezl Harrell is no longer listed on the team's injury report ahead of Saturday's contest against Orlando. Harrell missed practice Friday due to a headache, previously throwing his status into question. But there should be no hesitation firing Harrell up in all formats, as he enters an extremely favorable matchup against a porous Magic frontcourt averaging 18.1 points and a career-high 9.3 rebounds per contest. Shooting 64 percent from the field overall, Harrell should be rostered in all season-long leagues, having emerged as an early favorite for the league's Sixth Man of the Year Award.

Fri Nov 12 202114:16Montrezl Harrell Doesn't Practice Friday
Washington Wizards center Montrezl Harrell (headache) did not suit up for Friday's practice. He is reportedly dealing with a migraine headache, but is not listed on the current injury report. The organization is hopeful that Harrell will be able to play on Saturday versus the Orlando Magic. He has been fantastic this season, averaging 18.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.9 dimes over his first 11 games. Fantasy managers should expect Harrell to play, but check back for more information on Saturday.

Thu Nov 11 202107:50Montrezl Harrell Racks Up The Stats Off The Bench
Washington Wizards forward/center Montrezl Harrell put in a lot of work in Wednesday's 97-94 win over Cleveland, posting a game-high 24 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals in just 26 minutes of action off the bench. He didn't commit a single turnover and shot 8-for-12 from the field with a perfect 8-for-8 effort at the line. Having Harrell as a starter would be great, and he crushed in the starting unit last month, but the 27-year-old has a great motor and delivers the goods off the bench on most nights as well. He has a very nice stretch of games coming up now against Orlando, New Orleans and Charlotte. All three teams tend to give up a lot of bench points and the Magic even sit third on the line.

Thu Nov 4 202110:17Montrezl Harrell Goes For 15 And 10 Against Raptors
Washington Wizards power forward/center Montrezl Harrell had another strong all-around game in the team's 109-100 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. He shot 3-for-4 from the field and 9-for-10 from the line while tallying 15 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and three assists. The 27-year-old veteran has now posted double-doubles in four of his last five games. He's been regularly coming off the bench, but he's been seeing more playing time (31 minutes per game) than the team's starting center Daniel Gafford (18 minutes per game). Fantasy managers can keep riding Harrell, who is now averaging 18.0 points and 9.9 rebounds per game while shooting 60.5% from the field.

Fri Oct 29 202107:56Montrezl Harrell Has Another Busy Night
Washington Wizards forward/center Montrezl Harrell collected his second consecutive double-double and added five assists, two steals and one block in Thursday's win over Atlanta. He went 10-for-16 from the field and 5-for-5 at the line en route to 23 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Harrell already had a double-double by halftime. The 27-year-old is off to a nice start at his new club and has a great opportunity to keep on performing with Daniel Gafford (quadriceps) and Thomas Bryant (knee) out. He'll be up against Boston next in a matchup where he posted 25 points and 11 rebounds earlier in the week.

Thu Oct 28 202107:52Montrezl Harrell Goes For 25 And 11 In Win Over Celtics
Washington Wizards power forward/center Montrezl Harrell helped lead the team to a 116-107 victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday. He played a season-high 38 minutes and went on to score 25 points while grabbing 11 boards. He also added two blocks and an assist. He was extremely efficient in the game, shooting 10-for-13 from the field. Harrell saw increased playing time after starting center Daniel Gafford (quad) left the game with a quad injury. It's unclear whether Gafford will miss time at this point, but if he does, Harrell will continue to have a heavy workload on his shoulders.
