Thu Mar 3 202215:18Willie Cauley-Stein Likely To Be Waived
Philadelphia 76ers center Willie Cauley-Stein is expected to be waived by the organization. His 10-day contract with the team expires soon, and he hasn't brought much to the table since joining Philly. Also, the team plans to sign DeAndre Jordan once he clears waivers. Sadly, Cauley-Stein is the odd man out as the Sixers don't need two backup centers. It's unlikely that Jordan brings much in terms of fantasy impact to the Sixers roster. He'll serve in a similar role as Cauley-Stein did in Philly. He'll probably play a handful of minutes off the bench when Joel Embiid needs to rest.

Sun Dec 12 202116:25Willie Cauley-Stein Out Again On Sunday Night
Dallas Mavericks center Willie Cauley-Stein (personal) won't play on Sunday versus Oklahoma City. The 28-year-old will now miss his eighth straight outing as he continues to deal with a personal matter. As a result, Maxi Kleber should get some more work from off the bench, although he isn't a reliable fantasy option by any means.

Dallas Mavericks center Willie Cauley-Stein (illness) won't play on Saturday against Memphis. The 28-year-old will miss his fourth straight contest, and he joins Luka Doncic (ankle) and Kristaps Porzingis (knee) on the shelf. As a result, Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell should get most of the minutes underneath the basket. However, Boban Marjanovic could also get some meaningful work versus the Grizzlies and commands at least a mention as a DFS value consideration.

Thu Feb 11 202119:15Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young fined $20,000 by NBA
NEW YORK (AP) — Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young was fined $20,000 by the NBA on Thursday for directing inappropriate language toward a game official. The incident occurred Wednesday night after Young was knocked down setting a screen on the final play in the Hawks’ 118-117 loss at Dallas. “The play that Young disputed was correctly ruled a no-call,” the NBA said. “Under the playing rules, Dallas’ Willie Cauley-Stein was entitled to a normal step on a screen from behind, which he took, and which led to incidental and legal contact between Cauley-Stein and Young.”
Tue Dec 1 202019:35Mavs talk tough by adding protectors for young star Doncic
Luka Doncic's first experience with the playoffs ended with questions about whether Marcus Morris of the Los Angeles Clippers was intentionally trying to hurt the young Dallas sensation in a first-round series won by LA. The Mavericks might have hinted at what they thought through trades and draft picks during this abbreviated offseason. Dallas acquired James Johnson and his black belt in karate from Oklahoma City in a three-team trade after using the club's first-round draft choice at No. 18 overall on Josh Green, who was a strong defender in his only season at Arizona. The Mavericks also sent their best 3-pointer shooter in Seth Curry to Philadelphia for Josh Richardson, described by coach Rick Carlisle as an “edgy guy who is a terrific defender.” “I don’t really take well to my brothers being messed with, but I’m not an instigator in situations so I’m not going to be out there just trying to get in people’s faces and do a lot of extra stuff,” Richardson said on the opening day of training... DALLAS (AP) — Guard Tim Hardaway Jr. is opting in at $19 million for the final year of his contract with the Dallas Mavericks, while center Willie Cauley-Stein is moving on after declining his $2.3 million option. A person with knowledge of the decisions confirmed both moves to The Associated Press on Thursday on the condition of anonymity because no announcements were planned. Cauley-Stein becomes an unrestricted free agent. Hardaway shot a career-best 40% from 3-point range playing alongside 21-year-old sensation Luka Doncic as the Mavericks reached the playoffs for the first time in four years, losing to the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round. After coming over from New York in a trade along with headliner Kristaps Porzingis in February 2019, Hardaway averaged 19.3 points per game while becoming a full-time starter 14 games into his first full season with Dallas. The 28-year-old Hardaway figures to keep that starting role with rookie first-round pick Josh Green of Arizona probably... [More]
Tue Sep 1 202016:38Mavs set title sights with Euro stars after playoff return
Luka Doncic was impressive in his playoff debut on an injured ankle. Kristaps Porzingis left the NBA bubble amid unsettling questions over whether his knees will allow him to be the trusty sidekick in Dallas. While the Mavericks appear on track to become championship contenders led by the young European stars, there are issues while they await the unknown start of next season — the 10th since their only title, and their last playoff series victory.“We’re on the climb,” coach Rick Carlisle said after the Mavericks were eliminated in Game 6 of a first-round series against the Los Angeles Clippers. “You never know the exact timing of things like that. That’s our passion. That’s our obsession.”Doncic averaged 31 points, 9.8 rebounds and 8.7 assists in the playoffs with the bubble's most spectacular moment so far: a step-back 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat the Clippers in overtime in Game 4 on a left ankle he sprained in Game 3.After making his first All-Star game and being named a finalist... Tue Feb 4 202002:35Eyes on Russell, Iguodala, more as NBA trade deadline nears
It is the time of year when every injury report causes eyebrows to raise.D'Angelo Russell, not in Golden State’s lineup at Washington on Monday?Hmmm.Tristan Thompson, scratched by the Cleveland Cavaliers for their game against New York the same night?Interesting. That’s because it’s the week of the NBA trade deadline, when teams need to be careful with the health of players they might be trying to deal. The deadline is Thursday at 3 p.m. EST. It arrives quickly now, once the NBA moved it from its longtime spot on the calendar after the All-Star break to its current one the week before. It allows traded players to use the break to acclimate themselves to a new situation, rather than returning to a team that might deal them a couple days later.Russell could be making that adjustment. He’s been considered a trade possibility since virtually the moment the Warriors acquired him from Brooklyn in July in the sign-and-trade transaction that sent Kevin Durant across the country. He’s a point guard... [More]

Mon Dec 23 201902:17NBA coaches look for balance between winning, development
Billy Donovan challenges Oklahoma City’s young players to slow down and consider their strengths, focus first on defense and always think about whether the best decision is to shoot or pass. Then, just be patient and teach the rest of the game’s nuances over time.It can be a painful process for NBA coaches — and a costly one. Many coaches are striking the delicate balance between pushing inexperienced players enough for the players and team to succeed while realizing that the learning curve in the league can be a long one.The pace of the NBA can be daunting for newcomers. There is typically little time for extensive practices, so players must make strides on the fly and are thrown into the fire to learn as they go.“The more you play, the more the game slows down and you understand situations. Like I know what I’m capable of but I also know paying attention to their coverage, what they’re going to do,” Thunder guard Chris Paul said. “I always say this, ‘At the end of the day, it’s a game.’...
