Thu Dec 2 201011:55D-Backs non-tender Ryan Church
Diamondbacks non-tendered OF Ryan Church.
This was inevitable, even back when the team acquired him from the Pirates in July. Church, 32, turned in a meager .201/.265/.352 batting line this past season, mostly due to a collapse against right-handed pitching. He is still a solid defender, so he'll likely find a job as an extra outfielder somewhere.
Sun Aug 1 201013:29Church won't report to D-backs until Tuesday
The Diamondbacks aren't expecting the newly acquired Ryan Church to report to the team until Tuesday.
No word on why this is the case. As a consolation for Arizona, Church isn't likely to help them, anyway, as he had a wretched .182 batting mark in 170 at-bats this season with the Pirates.

Sat Jul 31 201013:40Church heads to Arizona in trade
Diamondbacks acquired outfielder Ryan Church from the Pirates.
Arizona also got D.J. Carrasco and Bobby Crosby from the Bucs for Chris Snyder and prospect Pedro Ciriaco. Church was a free-agent bust after signing on from Atlanta. He hit just .182 with 18 RBI in 69 games and failed to seize regular playing time in a wide-open outfield. He has no fantasy value right now in Arizona.
Sat May 15 201015:59Church doubles in return to starting lineup
Ryan Church was 1-for-4 with a two-run double in a win over the Cubs on Saturday afternoon.
It was Church's first time in the starting lineup since being hit in the right wrist against the Cardinals on May 7.
Sat May 15 201011:30Church gets first start since May 7
Ryan Church is back in the Pirates' starting lineup a week after being hit in the wrist by a pitch against the Cardinals.
Church pinch hit for the Pirates on Friday, so he was clearly well enough to swing a bat. He gets the start in left field with Lastings Milledge spending the day on the bench.

Mon May 10 201020:07Church limited with bruised right wrist
Ryan Church took some swings in the batting cage on Monday, but remains limited due to a bruised right wrist.
"It's really sore," said Church, who was plunked in the wrist during Friday's game against the Cardinals. Church said he doesn't feel he has the proper strength to be an effective pinch hitter at the moment, but added that the wrist feels much better than Sunday. He'll likely need a few more days.

Tue May 4 201021:46Church's 6th-inning HR leads Bucs to 3-2 win
Ryan Church went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer off Ryan Dempster as the Pirates topped the Cubs 3-2.
Pittsburgh trailed 2-1 in the sixth when Church went deep and the Bucs' bullpen held on to improve the team's record to 11-15. Church's playing time has been inconsistent, but his bat could force its way into the lineup for good at some point. He played center field on Tuesday. Church is now batting .292/.320/.479 in 48 at-bats.
Wed Apr 28 201015:55Pirates' Church ejected for arguing
Ryan Church was ejected from Wednesday's game in the ninth inning for arguing a called third strike.
Church was only in the game as a pinch-hitter. He objected to a low strike three call from umpire D.J. Reyburn, and while Reyburn let him get away with a first volley, the second got him tossed.
