Mon Sep 26 202221:10Marquese Chriss Not Ready For Training Camp
Houston Rockets forward Marquese Chriss (knee) is not expected to be ready to participate once training camp opens. The 25-year-old is still working his way back from knee surgery, which could sideline him heading into the regular season. He was traded to Houston earlier in the offseason, but isn't a great fit for this team. The Rockets have a logjam at forward, which is bad news for Chriss. It's possible he doesn't even have a role in the rotation once he's healthy. Chriss didn't bring much to the table last season, so he can be ignored heading into draft day.

Wed Jun 15 202222:32Marquese Chriss Heading Back To Houston
The Mavericks have traded forward Marquese Chriss to Houston in exchange for Christian Wood. The Rockets are also receiving Trey Burke, Sterling Brown, Boban Marjanovic, and the No. 26 overall selection in the NBA Draft. Chriss hasn't lived up to expectations since entering the league back in 2016 and finished last season by averaging only 4.5 points and 3.0 rebounds. It's unlikely the 24-year-old will receive much work during his second stint in Houston, so unless he gets more playing time, he won't have much value for managers in any fantasy format.

Sat Mar 5 202215:34Marquese Chriss Not Available Against Sacramento
Dallas Mavericks forward Marquese Chriss (knee) won't suit up against the Kings on Saturday. This is hardly a surprise, primarily since the 24-year-old has been out since mid-February because of right knee soreness. However, the Mavs will also be without Maxi Kleber (foot), who will miss his second consecutive game, so the team will unquestionably look to Dwight Powell and Davis Bertans to fill the void. Powell has a higher ceiling. Yet, Bertans can surprise managers if he can get minutes versus Sacramento, which is possible if Luka Doncic (toe), Trey Burke (shoulder), and Sterling Brown (illness) don't play.

Sat Feb 12 202220:08Marquese Chriss Won't Play Versus The Clippers
Dallas Mavericks forward Marquese Chriss (knee) won't be in the lineup on Saturday for the rematch with the Clippers. The 24-year-old is dealing with right knee soreness, an injury that forced him to leave Thursday's game early. Chriss has averaged five points and nearly four boards per outing since joining the team, and while he doesn't play a ton, his absence should open up more minutes for Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell, making them both a bit more relevant from a fantasy standpoint.

Thu Feb 10 202221:53Marquese Chriss Exits Early On Thursday
Dallas Mavericks forward Marquese Chriss (knee) was forced to exit early during Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. He finished with two rebounds and only lasted five minutes before exiting due to right knee soreness. The Mavericks have a rematch against the Clippers on Saturday. Fantasy managers should consider Chriss questionable for that game. Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell would see increased roles if Chriss is forced to sit out. Kleber has slightly more fantasy value, but fantasy managers will have to wait and see what happens with Chriss after the game.

Sun Jan 16 202216:42Marquese Chriss Inks Two-Year Deal With Mavs
Forward/center Marquese Chriss signed a two-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks. The veteran has appeared in 13 games for the team already this season, averaging 6.5 points and 3.7 rebounds throughout 11.3 minutes of work. However, unless Kristaps Porzingis or Maxi Kleber were to succumb to an injury at some point, Chriss doesn't possess much fantasy value. To make room, the Mavs waived center Willie Cauley-Stein, who had been out since late November because of personal issues.

Fri Mar 26 202113:22Analysis: How the trade deadline could pay some dividends
The NBA called this season’s trade deadline the busiest in the last 35 years, with 46 players from 23 teams involved in 16 different deals. What’s unclear is how many of those deals will have an impact on this season. Face it: Some will not register much of a blip. Brad Wanamaker getting moved to Charlotte by Golden State for a draft pick that will probably never change hands, that’s not exactly swinging a balance of power. Same goes for the Warriors sending Marquese Chriss to San Antonio, and Toronto trading Matt Thomas to Utah and Terence Davis to Sacramento — getting second-round picks back in both cases. Those Raptors moves were almost certainly made to clear roster spots for a Kyle Lowry trade that never happened. And it says something about the busiest trade deadline in 35 years when the biggest news of the day was a trade that didn’t happen, in Lowry’s case. That said, there were some moves that have potential to affect the postseason races. Here are some of the teams that benefited... [More]
Fri Feb 7 202020:26Warriors GM Myers makes tough call to trade away roster
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — In Brooklyn a couple of days back, Bob Myers realized something he has rarely seen as Golden State's general manager or even dating to his days as a busy sports agent: Nobody wanted to be traded from the NBA's worst team.“That's unprecedented,” Myers said Friday after dealing much of the Warriors roster this week.Golden State dealt D'Angelo Russell, Jacob Evans III and Omari Spellman to the Minnesota Timberwolves ahead of Thursday's trade deadline for Andrew Wiggins and draft picks — Minneosta's first-rounder and second-rounder in 2021, unless the first-rounder is in the top three and then it would roll over to 2022.It was “somber” as Myers put it after Golden State opted to send so many players packing for new opportunities. He felt it. Coaches felt it. The young Warriors said heartfelt farewells, having built tight bonds by being thrown into the fire because of injuries to stars such as Splash Brothers Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson and following Kevin Durant's offseason... Fri Jan 24 202022:57AP sources: Mavs set to acquire Cauley-Stein from Warriors
DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas Mavericks didn’t take long to settle on a plan to fill a big void created by a season-ending injury to center Dwight Powell. The Mavericks are set to acquire Willie Cauley-Stein from the Golden State Warriors for a second-round pick in this year’s draft, three people with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press. Two of the people said Dallas intends to make room for Cauley-Stein on the roster by waiving Justin Patton, acquired in a separate trade with Oklahoma City. The people spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the Cauley-Stein deal can’t be finalized until Patton is waived. The Mavericks made the moves three days after Powell, their starting center, tore his right Achilles tendon against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Thunder sent cash along with Patton to Dallas for rookie Isaiah Roby. The 7-foot Cauley-Stein, who missed all of training camp and the exhibition games because of a left foot injury, is averaging 7.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists... [More]
Wed Jan 15 202017:03Warriors sign Lee to multiyear contract, bring back Chriss
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Guard Damion Lee signed a multiyear contract with the Warriors on Wednesday as expected given his time as a two-way player had expired and Golden State wanted to keep him for the remainder of the season. The team also brought back forward Marquese Chriss as a two-way player after he had been waived to clear room for Lee's promotion. With Lee coming up, that left an open two-way spot and Chriss came through waivers and was available. The 22-year-old Chriss will split time with the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G League. He has provided a boost for the injury-plagued Warriors after signing as a free agent in late September, averaging 7.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 17.7 minutes over 37 games with three starts. Coach Steve Kerr was asked before Tuesday's 124-97 home defeat to the Dallas Mavericks whether it surprised him Chriss remained available.“It did. I guess the one thing that maybe hurt him in terms of not being picked up was the trade deadline coming up... [More]
Tue Jan 7 202016:20Warriors waive forward Marquese Chriss
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Forward Marquese Chriss was waived by the Warriors on Tuesday, providing room for Golden State to sign Damion Lee for the remainder of the season.Lee was in his final days of a two-way contract that allowed him to split time with the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G League. Chriss provided a boost for the injury-plagued Warriors after signing as a free agent in late September, but the team faced tough decisions given the constraints of trying to keep two-way players Lee and Ky Bowman. The 22-year-old Chriss, who said his goodbyes following a 111-98 loss at Sacramento on Monday, averaged 7.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 17.7 minutes over 37 games with three starts.___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/tag/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

NEW YORK (AP) — Golden State Warriors forward Marquese Chriss has been fined $35,000 for shoving Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic to the floor, the NBA announced Monday.Chriss shoved Doncic in the third quarter of Dallas' 141-121 victory at Golden State on Saturday night. The amount of the fine was based in part on Chriss' history of physical altercations on the court, NBA executive vice president Kiki VanDeWeghe said in a statement.Doncic fell backward into the first row of fans after Chriss shoved him. Doncic jumped right to his feet and charged at Chriss until the referees separated them. Chriss was assessed a technical foul.___More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

Chriss' suspension was for throwing a punch at Ibaka. The suspensions are without pay. Ibaka will lose about $448,000 and Chriss about $22,000.___More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Fri Aug 31 201820:17Suns get Anderson, send Knight, Chriss to Rockets
PHOENIX (AP) — The Phoenix Suns have completed a four-player trade that sends guard Brandon Knight and forward Marquese Chriss to the Houston Rockets for forward Ryan Anderson and guard De'Anthony Melton.Knight had been considered in line to start at point guard for the Suns after missing last season while recovering from knee surgery but now will see time as a backup to Chris Paul for what is expected to be an NBA contender in Houston. The 6-foot-10 Anderson, who two years ago signed a four-year, $80 million free agent deal with Houston, figures to start at power forward alongside this year's No. 1 overall draft pick, center Deandre Ayton.Chriss was the eighth overall pick out of Washington two years ago who has not progressed the way the Suns had hoped. Still, he's just 21.Melton, 19, is a second-round draft pick out of USC who showed dynamic, if raw, talent in the Las Vegas Summer League. To make the trade work financially, Anderson agreed to reduce the guaranteed portion of his contract... Fri Aug 31 201803:27AP Source: Deal close on 4-player trade with Suns, Rockets
PHOENIX (AP) — A person with knowledge of the situation says Phoenix and Houston are close to finalizing a trade that would send forward Ryan Anderson to the Suns and point guard Brandon Knight to the Rockets.Phoenix also would send former first-round pick forward Marquese Chriss to Houston and the Suns would get guard De'Anthony Melton from the Rockets. The person asked for anonymity Thursday night because the deal had not been completed. If the trade goes through as expected, Anderson could be the starting power forward for Phoenix. He averaged 9.3 points last season and has two years left on a four-year, $80 million contract he signed with the Rockets in 2016.Knight, who appeared to be in line to start at point guard for the Suns after missing last season with a knee injury, figures to see time as a backup to Chris Paul in Houston. The trade would leave Phoenix searching for a starter at the point guard position with no one on the roster ready to assume that responsibility. The 6-foot-10 Chriss, the eighth overall pick out of Washington in 2016, had not shown the improvement the Suns had hoped to see. His averaged dropped from 9.2 points as a rookie to 7.7 points last season. But he is just 21 years old.Melton was a second-round pick out of USC this year who had some good moments in Summer League play. The deal was first reported by ESPN.
Sun Jul 1 201816:23AP source: Suns, Ariza agree to 1-year, $15 million contract
PHOENIX (AP) — Trevor Ariza has agreed to a one-year, $15 million contract with the Phoenix Suns, a person with knowledge of the situation said Sunday. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the agreement cannot be officially announced during the free agent moratorium. The 33-year-old Ariza brings a reputation for winning and veteran leadership that general manager Ryan McDonough said the team needed around its young core that features Devin Booker, Josh Jackson and No. 1 overall draft pick Deandre Ayton. It's a nice raise for the 14-year NBA veteran, who earned $7.4 million last season, his fourth with Houston.Ariza averaged 11.7 points last season for a Rockets team that compiled the best record in the NBA at 65-17 before losing to Golden State in a seven-game Western Conference finals. Phoenix had the league's worst record at 21-61 and has missed the playoffs eight years in a row.Ariza has averaged 10.5 points per game, shooting 42 percent from the field... [More]

PHOENIX (AP) — Maybe, just maybe, the worst is behind the Phoenix Suns.Their 50th anniversary season was awful, even worse than the two that came before. For the eighth season in a row, the Suns won't make the playoffs. The win totals the past three seasons: 23, 24 and — this year 21. That 21-61 mark is the worst since Phoenix went 16-66 in its inaugural 1968-69 season. The season devolved in the final months, with injuries depleting the already exceedingly young roster, leaving a contingent of G League transfers to fill out the lineup in the final days. The Suns lost a franchise-record 15 straight in one stretch. Now, everyone involved is insisting, enough is enough."I'm done with not making the playoffs," rising star Devin Booker said as the players cleaned out their lockers and conducted exit interviews Wednesday.
