New Orleans Pelicans center Willy Hernangomez will get the starting nod for Wednesday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The big man will get the start with Jonas Valanciunas (calf) on the sideline. Also, Larry Nance Jr. (ankle) is out, so Hernangomez and Jaxson Hayes should get plenty of minutes on Wednesday. Between the two, Hernangomez is the better streaming choice and is worth looking at for Wednesday's slate with the Pelicans shorthanded.

He also bagged four assists and blocked one shot while shooting 7-for-16 from the field and 8-for-8 at the line. The Spaniard has always been a good per-minute player and proved it again here. He could get another opportunity to shine Tuesday against Atlanta if Valanciunas remains out.

Hernangomez finished with 14 points and eight rebounds in the final contest, averaging 17.2 PPG throughout the tournament. The 28-year-old has traditionally been utilized as a reserve big man throughout his NBA career, although he set a career high with 9.1 PPG last season for New Orleans. With Jonas Valanciunas and Jaxson Hayes still in the mix for the Pelicans, Hernangomez faces a muddled path to fantasy-relevant playing time in 2022-23, even with his international trophy in tow.

Center Willy Hernangomez agreed to a three-year deal to remain with the Pelicans. The 2015 second-round draft pick has played in New York and Charlotte throughout his career before ending up in New Orleans. The 27-year-old wasn't a consistent fantasy option last season, but throughout his 12 games in the starting lineup, he averaged a double-double by way of 11.5 points and 10.8 rebounds. While Hernangomez remains behind Jonas Valanciunas and Jaxson Hayes on the depth chart, his ceiling will get much higher if he lands a consistent role at some point during the year.
