WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Wizards have signed free-agent guard Ron Baker.The Wizards also announced Friday they waived forward Okaro White.Baker averaged 3.3 points and 1.8 assists in 92 games, all with New York. The Knicks released him Dec. 13.Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld calls Baker a "tough and physical defender who can give us added depth in the backcourt."Baker was an undrafted rookie in 2016 out of Wichita State, where he averaged 13.2 points. NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Knicks have signed guard Allonzo Trier to a guaranteed deal after the undrafted rookie's strong start to the season.The Knicks say Thursday that Trier became the first two-way player to sign a guaranteed NBA contract within the first two months of the season. The team acted quickly to make sure Trier wouldn't have to spend time in the NBA G League after he was one of the top contributors to the Knicks.Trier is averaging 11.3 points in 27 games and is shooting 39.1 percent from 3-point range, which ranks third among first-year players.He was signed to a two-way contract on July 3 after the former Arizona guard wasn't taken in the draft despite averaging 18.1 points as a junior.To make room on the roster for Trier's contract, the Knicks waived guard Ron Baker.___More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

NEW YORK (AP) — Knicks guard Ron Baker will have right shoulder surgery and miss the rest of the season.The Knicks say Monday that Baker will have an arthroscopic shoulder stabilization. It will be performed Wednesday by Dr. Answorth Allen.The team says the expected recovery time is four to six months.Baker dislocated the shoulder and tore his labrum Jan. 30 in a victory over Brooklyn. The backup guard finishes with 2.4 points per game in 29 games.

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Knicks reserve guard Ron Baker will be out indefinitely with a right shoulder injury.The Knicks say an MRI exam on Wednesday revealed a shoulder dislocation and a torn labrum. Baker was hurt in the first quarter of a victory over Brooklyn on Tuesday when he appeared to be kicked by DeMarre Carroll, who was jumping to take a shot.Baker is averaging 2.4 points in 29 games this season after re-signing with the Knicks for two years last summer.

The New York Knicks on Tuesday agreed to a two-year deal to keep shooting guard Ron Baker.The deal is worth a reported $8.9 million for Baker, according to ESPN and later confirmed by the New York Post. He was a restricted free agent.Undrafted out of Wichita State, the 6-foot-4 Baker averaged 4.1 points in 52 games in 2016-17 -- his first year in the NBA.Baker started 13 games, primarily in the latter stages of the season. He averaged 2.1 assists while shooting 37.8 percent overall from the field and 26.7 percent from 3-point range.In four seasons at Wichita State, Baker averaged 13.2 points, including a career-best 14.7 as a junior in 2014-15.
