The 40-year-old hasn't played since June 15 in what is expected to be his final big-league season in a storied career. Mon Jul 4 202218:26Yadier Molina Yet To Be Cleared For Baseball Activities
St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (knee) has yet to be cleared for baseball activities, according to Cardinals beat writer John Denton. Molina, who has been on the injured list due to right knee inflammation since June 16, is currently rehabbing the injury back in Puerto Rico. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol stated that Molina is both "working hard" and "feeling better," but that he remains without a timetable. The 39-year-old announced that 2022 would be his last season in the majors. He's been held to just 38 games so far this year and he's slashed .213/.225/.294 with two home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs. Fri Jun 17 202214:06Yadier Molina To Miss A Few Weeks
The St. Louis Cardinals are preparing to be without 10-time All-Star catcher Yadier Molina (knee) for at least a few weeks as the 39-year-old tries to recover from knee soreness that has plagued him for most of the season. Top catching prospect Ivan Herrera has been called up from Triple-A Memphis, but Andrew Knizner will receive the bulk of the starts behind the plate. Molina received multiple cortisone shots last weekend, and there is no definitive timetable for his return. He has been trying to get in shape during the season after reporting late to spring training due to a personal matter, and he has fought consistent pain since March, which would explain why he's hitting just .213 with two homers and a .519 OPS in 2022. Knizner is batting just .198/.283/.257 in 36 games, so the Cardinals have gotten very little from the catching position offensively.

Thu May 26 202218:26Yadier Molina Back From Bereavement List
St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was activated from the bereavement list and is catching and batting sixth on Thursday night against Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Eric Lauer. Molina spent the three-day minimum on the bereavement list and will return to a .239/.239/.337 slash line with two home runs, eight RBI, nine runs scored and one stolen base in 26 games played in 2022. The 10-time All-Star backstop just doesn't have a ton of offensive upside at this point in his career, and he'll have a tough matchup in his return to action against the lefty Lauer.

Mon May 23 202216:33Yadier Molina Goes On Bereavement List
The St. Louis Cardinals placed catcher Yadier Molina on the bereavement list on Monday and recalled catcher Ivan Herrera from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. Molina is slashing .239/.239/.337 with only two home runs, eight RBI, nine runs scored and one stolen base in 26 games so far in 2022. The 10-time All-Star isn't nearly the force offensively that he was in the prime of his career. St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (illness) is back behind the dish and is hitting eighth on Wednesday against Kansas City Royals left-hander Kris Bubic. Also, outfielder Juan Yepez is making his major league debut in right field, and he will hit fifth in the batting order. Molina missed Tuesday's game with sinus issues, but the 39-year-old is back in there. He hasn't been much of a fantasy asset with a .208 average, one extra-base hit and no RBI in the early going. Yepez, the team's No. 6 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was hitting .279 with nine home runs and 26 RBI in 22 games for Triple-A Memphis before his call-up. The 24-year-old can also play first and third base, but he could see regular playing time in St. Louis if Dylan Carlson continues to struggle.

Tue Apr 26 202215:01Yadier Molina Not In Tuesday's Lineup
St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina isn't starting on Tuesday for a matchup with the New York Mets and right-hander Chris Bassitt. Molina had previously started four of St. Louis' last six games. Instead, it'll be Andrew Knizner getting the start behind the plate and batting eighth. Molina is batting .156 with no walks in 32 plate appearances this season. Knizner is hitting .318 with a .400 on-base percentage and a home run in 25 plate appearances so far for St. Louis. It's not an easy matchup against Bassitt, but the 27-year-old could be worth a look as a streaming option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues.

Sun Apr 17 202213:51Yadier Molina To Sit Out Sunday
St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (rest) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. The veteran catcher appears to be getting a routine day off here. Molina is off to a slow start at the plate this season, but everyone knows what he is capable of doing with the bat. Andrew Knizner will bat ninth and draw the start at catcher against left-hander Aaron Ashby. This isn't exactly a favorable spot for Knizner, so fantasy managers can continue to ignore him.
