Arizona went ahead on Cody Ross's solo homer in the top of the 13th, but the Mets out-cuted them in the bottom of the inning. After Josh Satin doubled off Josh Collmenter with one out, Kirk Gibson opted to intentionally walk John Buck as the winning run because the pitcher was on deck and the Mets were out of position players. Terry Collins had Matt Harvey pinch-hit and lay down a sac bunt. Gibson ordered another intentional walk, this one to Omar Quintanilla, to load the bases, bringing up Brown. After going down 0-2, Brown got ahold of a high fastball that wasn't as high as intended and deposited it into the gap to end it.
