Fri Dec 24 202108:54Sterling Brown Stays Productive Against Milwaukee
Dallas Mavericks guard/forward Sterling Brown posted a second consecutive double-double in Thursday's loss to the Bucks, finishing with 10 points and 13 rebounds. His line also included three assists and one steal as he shot 4-for-11 from the field and 2-for-6 at the foul line. Brown has earned back-to-back starts, with a number of his teammates out, and his play has been very solid. He'll likely disappear off the map when everybody gets healthy again, but that won't happen anytime soon by the looks of it. He should be set for another busy night on Christmas Day against Utah.

Thu Dec 23 202120:23Sterling Brown, Frank Ntilikina Stay In Starting Five Thursday
Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Sterling Brown and point guard Frank Ntilikina remain in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Bucks with the team massively short-handed. Brown logged a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) across 33 minutes Tuesday, while Ntilikina delivered limited production in his 32 minutes. Without Kristaps Porzingis (toe), Luka Doncicand Tim Hardaway Jr. available, Dallas will have an all-hands-on-deck approach, which bodes well for the DFS upside of both Brown and Ntilikina. Neither has earned season-long consideration due to their limited respective roles within the second unit, but they will be on the radar while the Mavs seek offensive contributions.

Wed Dec 22 202109:09Sterling Brown Bags A Double-Double In Tuesday's Start
Dallas Mavericks guard/forward Sterling Brown was elevated into the starting unit on Tuesday against Minnesota, and he had a good performance with 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 114-102 win. Brown also notched three assists while shooting 5-for-8 from the field and 2-for-4 from downtown. Dallas has lost a lot of players to various problems and it's given Brown a bigger role, which he filled very nicely on Tuesday. It remains to be seen how long he sticks in the starting unit, but Brown will be able to help a few fantasy managers out as long as he's served good minutes. The 26-year-old logged a season-high 33 minutes against the Timberwolves.

Sun Dec 19 202117:18Sterling Brown Probable For Sunday's Matchup
Dallas Mavericks guard/forward Sterling Brown (foot) is considered probable for Sunday's clash with the Timberwolves. He's been out for six games with left foot soreness but looks ready to return now. The 26-year-old hasn't done a lot this season, getting only three points and three rebounds per game, but the Mavericks are currently rolling with a depleted roster and Brown should have an opportunity to get some meaningful minutes. With that said, there are surely a lot better options out there for fantasy managers.

Wed Apr 28 202117:20Rockets' Kevin Porter Jr. fined $50,000 for strip club visit
NEW YORK (AP) — The NBA has fined Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. $50,000 for violating the league’s health and safety rules by visiting a strip club in Miami last week with teammate Sterling Brown, who was assaulted outside the establishment. The league bars players from attending indoor social gatherings of 15 or more people or entering bars, lounges and clubs. The Rockets were in Miami to play the Heat when the visit occurred April 19. According to an incident report, Miami-Dade police responding to an anonymous call about a fight in the parking lot of Booby Trap on the River around 7 a.m. found Brown with multiple lacerations. He was with another Black male and the report says both men “became belligerent and refused to cooperate.” Brown was identified by a fire department captain who took him to a hospital. The incident report says that there were no witnesses at the scene and club employees said they did not see what happened. The Rockets released a statement about the incident that said that Brown was the victim of an assault. “He had no prior knowledge of or interaction with the assailants,” the team said. “He suffered facial lacerations but will make a full recovery.” The Rockets host Brown's former team, the Milwaukee Bucks, on Thursday night. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Wed Apr 21 202119:38Rockets' Brown recovering in Houston after assault in Miami
HOUSTON (AP) — Rockets guard Sterling Brown is back in Houston recovering from injuries sustained when he was assaulted outside a strip club in Miami early Monday morning. “He’s recovering,” coach Stephen Silas said. “He was assaulted and he has bumps and bruises and stuff like that, so stuff like that usually gets a little bit worse ... before it gets better.” The Rockets were in Miami to play the Heat when the incident occurred. Silas said that he spoke to Brown on Tuesday and he reached out to him Wednesday but had not gotten in touch with him. He said Brown is seeing doctors and working with the team’s training staff as he recovers. “The main thing for me is that he knows that we are 100% behind him and have his back and want him to get healthy soon, get back and get back with his teammates and all of those things,” Silas said. According to an incident report from the Miami-Dade Police Department, they received an anonymous call about a fight in the parking lot of Booby Trap on the... [More]
Mon Apr 19 202121:27Rockets say Sterling Brown was attacked, injured in Miami
MIAMI (AP) — The Houston Rockets say that guard Sterling Brown was assaulted by unknown individuals after the team arrived in Miami late Sunday night, suffering cuts to his face. Brown was not playing Monday against the Heat, though the team said that was because of a recent knee injury that has kept him out for a total of five games and not the altercation. “Last night, Sterling Brown was the victim of an assault,” the Rockets announced in a statement issued Monday evening. “He had no prior knowledge of or interaction with the assailants. He suffered facial lacerations but will make a full recovery.” The team did not divulge any other details. It was not immediately known if any incident reports were filed with police. The NBA said it was gathering information on the incident and was hopeful that Brown makes a full recovery. Brown sued officials in Milwaukee after getting taken to the ground, shocked with a Taser and arrested during an encounter surrounding a parking violation with police... [More]
Sun Jan 17 202116:37Rockets look to future after trading Harden to Brooklyn
HOUSTON (AP) — James Harden forced his way out of Houston without bringing the Rockets an NBA title. Now that he’s in Brooklyn, the Rockets hope the huge haul of draft picks they received in the trade will allow them to chase championships in the future. “Our goal remains unchanged,” general manager Rafael Stone said Sunday, addressing the trade for the first time. “I think we’re well-positioned to develop something really special.” Houston dealt Harden to the Nets last week, a day after he said the Rockets weren't “good enough,” in a four-team trade that also involved Cleveland and Indiana. The Rockets didn’t receive a franchise cornerstone in the deal but got many draft picks that should position them to build a talented roster. The Rockets received Brooklyn’s unprotected first-round picks in 2022, 2024 and 2026 and the right to swap first-round selections with the Nets in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027. Houston also got Milwaukee’s 2022 first-round pick from Cleveland. Houston acquired three... [More]
Mon Nov 9 202014:32Bucks player agrees to $750K settlement over arrest
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Bucks guard Sterling Brown and the Milwaukee city attorney have agreed to a revised $750,000 settlement of a lawsuit Brown filed after getting taken to the ground, shocked with a Taser and arrested during an encounter with police in 2018. City Attorney Tearman Spencer is recommending the payment plus an admission that Brown's constitutional rights were violated during the arrest that began with a parking violation outside a Walgreen's store. Brown's attorney signed the agreement on his behalf Friday. Spencer's recommendation came in a letter he sent to Milwaukee Common Council members. The settlement is subject to approval by the city; it wasn't immediately clear when the council would take it up. The Bucks said in a statement Monday that “we are pleased that Sterling’s lawsuit has been mutually resolved and that there’s been an important commitment by the City of Milwaukee and its Police Department to make changes to the MPD’s standard operating procedures.”... Mon Nov 9 202012:42Revised settlement recommended over Bucks player's arrest
MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee city attorney is recommending a revised offer to settle a lawsuit brought by Milwaukee Bucks guard Sterling Brown, who was taken to the ground, shocked with a Taser and arrested during an encounter with police in 2018. City Attorney Tearman Spencer is recommending a $750,000 payment and an admission that Brown's constitutional rights were violated during the arrest that began with a parking violation outside a Walgreen's store. Brown rejected the Milwaukee City Council's original offer of $400,000 made in 2019. Brown's attorney, Mark Thomsen, said at the time that any settlement without an admission of a civil rights violation would go nowhere. Thomsen said the admission was necessary for the city to heal. Brown contends in his lawsuit that police used excessive force and targeted him because he is Black when they confronted him for parking illegally in a handicapped-accessible spot in January 2018. He was talking with officers while waiting for his citation... [More]

(AP) — All three NBA playoff games scheduled for Wednesday have been postponed, with players around the league choosing to boycott in their strongest statement yet against racial injustice.Called off: Games between Milwaukee and Orlando, Houston and Oklahoma City and the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland. The NBA said all three games would be rescheduled, yet did not say when. And the reverberations quickly moved into Major League Baseball and the WNBA. The Milwaukee Brewers' home game with the Cincinnati Reds was called off, by player decision, and other MLB teams were considering similar moves. Sun May 31 202015:23AP Interview: Floyd's death opens old wounds for Sefolosha
Thabo Sefolosha knows what it’s like to be a black man, on the ground, surrounded by police officers.Such was the scenario when George Floyd died in Minneapolis last week. And when Sefolosha watched that video, his memories came flooding back.“I was just horrified by what I saw," Sefolosha said. “That could have been me."Time has not healed all wounds for Sefolosha, the NBA veteran who said he was attacked by a group of New York Police Department officers in April 2015 while they were arresting him outside a nightclub in the city’s Chelsea neighborhood. The leg that was broken in the fracas is fine now. The emotional pain returned last week when he saw video of Floyd, a handcuffed black man who pleaded for air in the final moments of his life as a white police officer — subsequently charged with murder — pressed a knee on his neck.Sefolosha has not watched much news since. His experience with police in New York has left him with a deep distrust of law enforcement, the pangs of angst flooding... [More]

STURTEVANT, Wis. (AP) — Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks chose to recover from the end of their 18-game winning streak at a medium-security Wisconsin state prison. Two days before an anticipated showdown with the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, the team was scheduled for a “player individual day” on Tuesday — usually used for individuals to get extra training or medical treatment. Instead, the players opted to hear stories from inmates at the Racine Correctional Institution. “I wasn't seeing guys that made mistakes,” Antetokounmpo said. “I was just seeing humans, humans that were laughing, that were trying hard, humans that shared their stories. That really touched me and I realized sometimes we take things for granted. Sun Oct 13 201922:30Celtics, Zion remain sizzling to start preseason
Preseason numbers often mean almost nothing. Rotations are unusual, starters rarely play much, and few if any teams are putting a premium on winning games. As such, it's tough to glean much from exhibition stats. But what the Boston Celtics and New Orleans rookie Zion Williamson — the No. 1 pick in this year's draft — have been doing so far in the preseason certainly stands out.The Celtics are 3-0 after beating Cleveland on Sunday — and have put together a huge run in all three of those games. The latest was a 50-17 spurt against the Cavaliers, a game that was close for most of the first quarter before Boston built what eventually became a 54-point lead.Boston's other big runs of note in this preseason were a 41-17 stretch last Sunday against Charlotte, and opening the game with a 29-4 burst at Orlando on Friday. On top of the 50-17 run against the Cavs, they added a 26-8 run in the fourth quarter as well.No matter who the Celtics have on the court, defense has been the constant. Boston is... [More]
