Sun May 22 201102:27Joe Mather knocks in four in Braves' win
Joe Mather went 4-for-6 with a three-run homer and a go-ahead double in the top of the 12th to lead the Braves to a 5-4 win over the Angels on Saturday.
Mather probably wouldn't have been in the lineup if not for Jason Heyward's injury, but he really took advantage with his best day as a major leaguer. The four RBI tonight matched his total from his previous 64 at-bats combined. Mather probably won't be worth adding in NL-only leagues unless Heyward goes on the DL tomorrow.

Wed Nov 3 201016:18Braves' Mather to get shot at backup 1B job
Braves GM Frank Wren said Wednesday that Joe Mather will have an opportunity to claim a backup first base job next spring.
Mather was claimed off waivers from the Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon. He's capable of playing outfield and even third base, and it sounds like he might land a super-utility job on Atlanta's big-league roster next season. He always showed a decent bat at the Triple-A level and would allow youngster Freddie Freeman some extra rest in his rookie season.
