Thu Aug 17 202323:18Vlatko Cancar Undergoes ACL Surgery
According to Mike Singer of the Denver Post, Nuggets forward Vlatko Cancar (knee) had surgery to repair his torn left ACL. He is out indefinitely. The 26-year-old sustained the injury during an international exhibition against Greece while playing for Slovenia. Cancar, who finished last season by averaging 5.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists, was forecasted to receive more minutes this season. But now he probably won't play in 2023-24, considering he may need up to 12 months to recover.

Sat Aug 5 202323:42Vlatko Cancar Tears ACL
Denver Nuggets forward Vlatko Cancar (knee) suffered a torn ACL in his left knee. The 26-year-old, suiting up for Slovenia, sustained the injury during Friday's World Cup exhibition versus Greece. It's horrible news for Cancar, who ended the 2022-23 campaign by averaging 5.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. Although those numbers didn't make him a desirable fantasy asset, he was projected to see an enhanced role in 2023-24, primarily after the Nuggets lost Bruce Brown and Jeff Green in free agency. Unfortunately, Cancar will need surgery, meaning he may miss the entire season.

Wed Mar 8 202314:24Vlatko Cancar Questionable Once Again
Denver Nuggets forward/center Vlatko Cancar (wrist) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against Chicago. He was also questionable ahead of Monday's contest against Toronto but missed a second consecutive game. The Nuggets have gotten some really solid minutes out of Cancar over the second half of the season. He posted 8.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists with 50.6 percent shooting from the field last month. Jeff Green has soaked in Cancar's minutes while he's been nursing a right wrist sprain and should do so again Wednesday if Cancar can't play. However, the veteran has done very little during his time on the court and doesn't really offer anything to fantasy managers.

Sun Mar 5 202321:55Vlatko Cancar Tagged As Questionable On Monday
Denver Nuggets forward Vlatko Cancar (wrist) has been tagged as questionable for Monday's contest against the Toronto Raptors. He was unable to play on Friday and his status will likely clear up either way after shootaround. He's been getting some of the most minutes out of the forwards on the bench, so there will be plenty of minutes to go around for Bruce Brown and Jeff Green. Both of which are solid streaming options in most leagues.

Fri Jan 6 202308:23Vlatko Cancar Grabs First Career Double-Double
Denver Nuggets forward Vlatko Cancar rewarded all of those fantasy managers in super deep leagues or dynasty formats on Thursday night. The 25-year-old out of Slovenia posted his first career double-double as he ended with 15 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block across 27 minutes. He shot 6-for-12 from the floor and hit one out of his three three-point attempts. Cancar still isn't a relevant fantasy option for leagues with 14 teams or fewer, but he could still help in a deep dynasty format if needed.

Thu Jul 7 202217:23Vlatko Cancar Gets Three-Year Contract Extension From Denver
Denver Nuggets power forward Vlatko Cancar has agreed to a three-year extension to remain with the franchise, including a team option in the final season. Cancar was a second-round choice in the 2017 NBA Draft and he has since played sparingly off the bench. The native of Slovenia logged a career-high 11.7 minutes across 15 outings last year, having shot 56.1 percent overall. With Aaron Gordon holding down starting power forward duties, Cancar remains on the outside looking in of fantasy relevance for the time being, although he does provide Denver with frontcourt depth.

Thu Dec 23 202120:44Vlatko Cancar Draws First Start Of Season Thursday
Denver Nuggets small forward Vlatko Cancar has been elevated to the starting lineup for Thursday's contest against Charlotte, which will mark his first start of the season and second of his NBA career. Cancar is stepping in for Aaron Gordon (hamstring), looking to parlay his recent sizable minutes total off the bench into a DFS-relevant outing. In limited time this year, Cancar has shot exceptionally well from behind the arc (62.5%). Fellow starters Jeff Green and Will Barton can also be targeted as upside DFS selections without Gordon in the mix, but Cancar has solid punt play potential.

Thu Jan 23 202002:36Dragic says his retirement from international game is final
MIAMI (AP) — Goran Dragic is not going to play for Slovenia in this summer’s Olympic qualifying tournament, insisting Thursday that he will not change his stance on being retired from international basketball. The Miami Heat guard has a slew of reasons why he won’t change his mind, including his looming free agency this summer, a desire to spend as much quality time as possible with his family and that at his age — he’ll be 34 in May — another offseason of playing simply wouldn’t be the best thing for his body.Dragic said after leading Slovenia to its best sports moment, a gold medal at the 2017 European championships, that he was done with the international game.“When I was younger I showed my nation that I would always play for my national team, no matter who was there,” Dragic said. “If we had a good team or a bad team, I was there. I feel like I gave everything that I have and at this point in my career, my body isn’t the same and I have to be smart.”Slovenia has not qualified for the... [More]
