Leyson Septimo (shoulder) has been assigned to Triple-A Charlotte to begin his rehab assignment.
Septimo hasn't pitched since March 7 due to a strained left shoulder. The 27-year-old lefty is out of minor league options, so the White Sox will have to find room for him on the major league roster once his rehab assignment is up, or risk exposing him to waivers. He posted a 5.02 ERA and 14/6 K/BB ratio over 14 1/3 innings with the White Sox in 2012.

Leyson Septimo was knocked around yet again, this time for five runs in only one inning of work on Monday.
The perennial minor leaguer has looked pretty bad this spring, particularly over his last five appearances (13 earned runs in 3 2/3 innings). His overall ERA is 15.95 through 7 1/3 frames. It is safe to say that the Leyson Septimo experiment is over.

Septimo, 26, became a free agent after being outrighted off Chicago's 40-man roster last month. The hard-throwing left-hander posted an underwhelming 5.30 ERA and 60/41 K/BB ratio over 56 innings at the Double-A level this season between the White Sox and Diamondbacks organizations.
