NEW YORK -- Yu Darvish threw seven scoreless innings in his first start for Los Angeles and Chase Utley continued to torment the New York Mets by hitting a two-run homer in the seventh inning of the Dodgers' 6-0 win on Friday at Citi Field.The scorching Dodgers won for the 42nd time in their last 49 games dating back to June 7. The Mets lost for the fifth time in six games.Darvish, who was acquired from the Texas Rangers in exchange for three prospects seconds before the trade deadline Monday, allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out 10. The win was the first since June 12 for Darvish, who was 0-5 with a 5.81 ERA in his final eight starts for the Rangers.Darvish received the only support he'd need when Chris Taylor homered leading off the first against Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom (12-5). Yasiel Puig homered in the second and Justin Turner hit into a run-scoring play in the fifth.Tigers 5, Orioles 2BALTIMORE -- Justin Upton hit a grand slam off Mychal Givens in the top of the eighth inning, and starter Justin Verlander gave Detroit seven solid innings against Baltimore.The Tigers, who have won four in a row, were trailing 2-1 when Givens came on in the eighth. He gave up two singles and then walked Jim Adduci -- who homered in the first -- to load the bases.Upton then belted a grand slam to left on the first pitch from Givens (7-1). That put the Tigers on top, 5-2. This was Upton's third grand slam of the season, the last coming on July 30 versus Houston. Dyson laced a single to right, scoring Heredia. Dyson stole second and scored on Leonys Martin's two-out single.Paxton (12-3) has not lost since June 27 to Philadelphia. With two outs, Garcia intentionally walked left-handed hitting Charlie Blackmon to get to LeMahieu, a right-handed hitter.LeMahieu singled on an 0-1 fastball, sending the Phillies to their major league-leading 28th one-run loss. It was also their fourth straight setback on their current eight-game road trip.Angels 8, Athletics 6ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Cliff Pennington and Luis Valbuena had clutch two-run singles and Los Angeles rallied from a 6-2 deficit to beat Oakland and move within two games of the second wild card in the American League.Pennington drove in two runs in the sixth inning to cut the margin to 6-4 and Valbuena's two-run single tied the score in the seventh. Yunel Escobar and Mike Trout followed Valbuena's hit with run-scoring singles to make it 8-6.The A's bullpen collapsed in the late innings. Reliever Liam Hendriks allowed two inherited runners to score in the sixth, Daniel Coulombe walked three straight hitters to start the seventh, and Blake Treinen allowed all three Angels hits in the seventh.Twins 8, Rangers 4MINNEAPOLIS -- Brian Dozier homered twice, Robbie Grossman added a three-run blast and Bartolo Colon had his first complete game since Sept. 5, 2015, as Minnesota beat Texas.Dozier hit his fifth leadoff homer of the season and 24th career to extend his club record. Grossman's seventh homer of the season came in a four-run first inning.Colon (3-9) earned his first win in four starts with Minnesota. The 44-year-old right-hander allowed four runs on nine hits and struck out five batters. He set down 13 of the final 15 batters he faced.
