Tue Sep 5 202300:23Giants To Release AJ Pollock
The San Francisco Giants decided Monday to release outfielder AJ Pollock (oblique), per MLB Network's Jon Morosi. Pollock, who has been on the injured list since the beginning of August with a Grade 1 left oblique strain, played for Triple-A Sacramento over the weekend on an injury rehab assignment. The 35-year-old veteran has managed a .165/.215/.308 slash line in 144 plate appearances this season with the Mariners and Giants. Regardless of where he may end up, his fantasy value is very limited at this point in his career.

Fri Sep 1 202308:52AJ Pollock Beginning Rehab Assignment Friday
San Francisco Giants outfielder AJ Pollock (oblique) will begin his rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Sacramento. The 35-year-old has been on the shelf since early August after suffering a Grade 1 left oblique strain. Pollock's amid arguably the worst offensive campaign of his career, slashing .165/.215/.308 with five home runs, 15 runs, 15 RBI, and no steals over 54 games split between the Seattle Mariners and the Giants. Fantasy managers should leave him on the waiver wire even after he returns.

Wed Aug 9 202320:02Giants Move AJ Pollock To 10-Day Injured List
Updating a previous report, the San Francisco Giants placed outfielder AJ Pollock (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a left-oblique strain and recalled outfielder Heliot Ramos from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. Pollock injured his left oblique on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels and will now probably miss more than the 10 required days on the IL. The 35-year-old veteran has been pretty useless in fantasy leagues in 2023, hitting .165/.215/.308 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored in 133 at-bats. Pollock has gone hitless in six at-bats over five games since being acquired in a trade from the Seattle Mariners at the deadline. Pollock should be on the waiver wire in mixed fantasy leagues.

Wed Aug 9 202319:00AJ Pollock To Sit Out On Wednesday
San Francisco Giants outfielder AJ Pollock (side) is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The 35-year-old was forced to exit early on Tuesday due to left side discomfort. He won't be in the lineup on Wednesday, but might be available off the bench. Joc Pederson, Luis Matos, and Michael Conforto will cover the outfield against right-hander Shohei Ohtani. Pollock has struggled this season, so he isn't much of a fantasy option anyway.

Wed Aug 9 202300:07AJ Pollock Exits Early Tuesday With Side Discomfort
San Francisco Giants outfielder AJ Pollock (side) exited Tuesday's game against the Angels in the third inning with left side discomfort, per MLB.com's Maria Guardado. Pollock was pinch-hit for before getting an at-bat. The 35-year-old has dealt with injuries throughout his career and has slashed just .165/.215/.308 in 144 plate appearances this season with the Mariners and the Giants. Fantasy managers should wait to hear more after the game, but they should steer away from Pollock at this time regardless.

Mon Jul 31 202318:42AJ Pollock Moves From Mariners To Giants
The Seattle Mariners have traded outfielder AJ Pollock, along with utility player Mark Mathias, to the San Francisco Giants ahead of Tuesday's MLB trade deadline. In fact, Tuesday was the target day for Pollock to be activated from the 10-day injured list after dealing with a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action since July 21. It's been tough sledding at the plate for the 35-year-old this season as Pollock is hitting just .173 with five homers and a .548 OPS across 49 games, good for a 51 wRC+ that is 49% below the league average. For his part, Mathias was recently claimed off waivers by the Mariners from the Pittsburgh Pirates where he hit .231 with three stolen bases across 62 trips to the plate.

Sat Jul 22 202314:15AJ Pollock Lands On The Injured List
Seattle Mariners outfielder AJ Pollock (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain on Saturday. The veteran outfielder sustained the injury during Friday's win over the Blue Jays and currently has no timetable for his return. It's been a brutal 2023 season for Pollock, who's slashing a meager .173/.225/.323 with five home runs and 15 RBI over 127 at-bats on the year. He likely would have been optioned earlier this season but Mariners lack outfield options in the minor league system. Outfielder Taylor Trammell, who owns a career .168/.269/.370 batting line across 303 major league at-bats, has been recalled from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move.

Thu May 25 202309:31AJ Pollock Dealing With A Leg Injury
Seattle Mariners outfielder AJ Pollock had to leave Wednesday's contest against the Oakland Athletics after tweaking his leg while attempting to steal a bag, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports. Fantasy managers should assume he's day-to-day right now, but if he does need time on the injured list, they won't be missing much production. Pollock is not the same player he used to be and is hitting .167 with four home runs, 11 runs, and 13 RBI over 30 games. Taylor Trammel will likely see more action if the 35-year-old goes on the shelf, but managers might want to look elsewhere for outfield help, as he's sporting a .143 batting average and .686 OPS with no steals across 15 games.

Sun Apr 2 202313:25AJ Pollock Starting In Left Field On Sunday
Seattle Mariners outfielder AJ Pollock is starting in left field and batting seventh against the Cleveland Guardians in Sunday's series finale. The 35-year-old was brought in as a platoon option, primarily to face left-handed pitching, but he'll be getting the start on Sunday against right-hander Cal Quantrill. Teoscar Hernandez is shifting over to designated hitter to make room for Pollock in the outfield. Due to his limited playing time, Pollock isn't much of a fantasy option outside of the deepest leagues.

Mon Feb 13 202316:40AJ Pollock To Platoon In Left Field
Seattle Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto and manager Scott Servais announced that they will use a platoon in left field in 2023 with veteran AJ Pollock, who signed a one-year deal in free agency. Pollock will start against left-handed pitchers. The 35-year-old has a .304/.350/.593 slash line with 24 doubles, 31 homers, 75 RBI, 26 walks and 80 strikeouts against lefties in the last four years. Jarred Kelenic and Taylor Trammell are expected to start in left on days when the Mariners face right-handed pitching. Kelenic seems like the early favorite heading into spring training, with the edge in fielding, baserunning and power potential. In 133 plate appearances against lefties in 2022 with the Chicago White Sox, Pollock hit .286/.316/.619.

Tue Nov 8 202217:28AJ Pollock Becomes A Free Agent
Chicago White Sox outfielder AJ Pollock has declined his $13 million option for the 2023 season and has become a free agent. Pollock will receive a $5 million buyout and will now be free to sign with any team this offseason. The 34-year-old will latch on with another organization, but he could struggle to make more than $13 million on a one-year deal elsewhere after hitting a very mediocre .245/.292/.389 with a .681 OPS, 14 home runs, 56 RBI, 61 runs scored and three stolen bases in 527 plate appearances and 138 games in his only season in Chicago. Pollock remains attractive mostly in a platoon outfield role, as he had a strong .935 OPS with 11 of his 14 long balls against left-handed pitching.

He's been better of late, however, slashing .277/.364/.511 with two home runs in his last 15 games. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on if he can keep this up.

Thu Aug 11 202212:47AJ Pollock Out For Second Straight Day
Chicago White Sox outfielder AJ Pollock (foot) had a large multi-colored bruise on his foot on Wednesday after fouling a pitch off his foot on Tuesday, and he remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday for the second straight game against the Kansas City Royals. Fantasy managers should consider the 34-year-old to be day-to-day for now. In his first year with the Pale Hose, he's slashing .235/.284/.348 with only five home runs, 36 RBI, 35 runs scored and one stolen base in 334 plate appearances over 91 games. Eloy Jimenez is starting in left field and hitting third on Thursday against Royals right-hander Zack Greinke. Jimenez is a must-start in single-year formats with his .292/.329/.454 slash line and six homers and 22 RBI in 130 at-bats this year.

Sun Jun 26 202213:24AJ Pollock Getting A Breather On Sunday
Chicago White Sox outfielder AJ Pollock is getting the day off on Sunday as the team takes on right-hander Jordan Lyles and the Baltimore Orioles. Josh Harrison will be covering Pollock's usual left field post for the game. Pollock has been pretty productive at the plate in June. He's slashing .284/.330/.432 across the month with two home runs, five doubles, 13 RBI and 14 runs. The 34-year-old veteran owns a .246/.283/.377 slash line on the year, but his .272 xBA and .480 xSLG suggest that he's been a bit unlucky.

Sat Jun 4 202212:39AJ Pollock Not Playing Saturday
Chicago White Sox outfielder AJ Pollock is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Still, the 34-year-old veteran is still hitting just .225/.252/.358 on the year with three home runs, 11 RBI, 14 runs scored and one stolen base in 34 games in his first season in Chicago. Andrew Vaughn is in left field and is batting second, while Gavin Sheets gets the start in right field and will hit sixth against Rays right-hander Drew Rasmussen. Wed Jun 1 202215:35AJ Pollock Returns From Illness
Chicago White Sox outfielder AJ Pollock (illness) is back in left field and is leading off on Wednesday against Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Hyun Jin Ryu. Pollock sat out the last two games with a non-COVID-related illness, but he's back in there on Wednesday. The 34-year-old hasn't helped fantasy managers much in 2022, as he's hitting just .216/.246/.333 with two home runs, 10 RBI, 13 runs scored and one stolen base in 32 games. In the last 14 days, Pollock has gone 7-for-33 (.212) with one solo home run. The good news is he's been better against lefties, going 6-for-26 (.231) with both of his home runs against them this year.

Mon May 23 202222:22AJ Pollock Is Heating Up
Chicago White Sox outfielder AJ Pollock reached base twice on Monday, going 1-for-4 with a walk and a run in the 7-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals. It kept his hot streak alive, as he's slashing .288/.333/.500 over his last 15 games with a pair of homers. On the year, Pollock's batting .245 with two home runs, 10 RBI, 10 runs, and one stolen base over 27 games. The 34-year-old has had trouble staying on the field throughout his career, and he isn't a must roster in shallower leagues. However, in a healthy season with everyday playing time, Pollock can provide fantasy managers with 20 or more home runs without killing the batting average.

Chicago White Sox outfielder AJ Pollock isn't in the lineup on Wednesday for a matchup with the Kansas City Royals and right-handed starter Zack Greinke. Sheets is hitting .270 with a .308 on-base percentage and a home run in 39 plate appearances during the 2022 season. He could be a useful streaming option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues on Wednesday.

Fri Apr 22 202216:15AJ Pollock Reinstated From Injured List
The Chicago White Sox have reinstated outfielder AJ Pollock (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list ahead of Friday's game against the Minnesota Twins. In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Matt Foster was placed on the Family Medical Leave List. Pollock suffered a hamstring strain in the second game of the season and was placed on the injured list shortly after. He hit leadoff in each of the team's first two games of the year. There's a chance he could resume leadoff duties, or we could see him bat second behind Tim Anderson, who has been the team's primary leadoff hitter lately.
