Cincinnati Reds infielder Matt Reynolds cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday. Reynolds has the option to decline the outright assignment and become a free agent after he was designated for assignment last Friday to make room on the 40-man roster for right-hander Luke Weaver. The 32-year-old will simply serve as organizational infield depth for the Reds if he remains in the organization. Reynolds spent 2022 with the Reds and New York Mets, hitting .246/.320/.332 with a .652 OPS, three home runs, 23 RBI, 31 runs scored and five stolen bases in 272 plate appearances and 93 games (only one with the Mets).

Reynolds was recalled from Triple-A Reno prior to Sunday's game against the Reds.

Reynolds will replace Keith Hessler as a lefty option out of the D-Backs' bullpen, after the latter was demoted to Reno following Saturday's game. In 45 appearances for the Triple-A club this season, Reynolds posted a 5.58 ERA and 1.44 WHIP across 50 innings.
