Field cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Field was designated for assignment Saturday, after recording 16 strikeouts and just eight hits in 41 at-bats. The 28-year-old is useful as organizational infield depth, but he doesn't seem to have a future as a big-league starter.
Sat May 30 201515:47Field designated for assignment by Rangers on Saturday
Field was designated for assignment by the Rangers on Saturday.
Field was given a look at second base after Rougned Odor was demoted earlier this month, but the 28-year-old failed to impress, collecting eight hits and striking out 16 times in 41 at-bats. He was bumped from the 40-man roster in favor of Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez and will now be subjected to waivers.
Fri May 29 201515:57Field out of lineup Friday
Field is out of the lineup Friday.
He dipped below the Mendoza line with an 0-for-3 outing in his last start, and should see his playing time start to trail off as Adam Rosales (Friday's starter) and Rougned Odor (who is raking at Triple-A) appear to be better options at the keystone.

Field is not in the lineup
Field will get the day off against lefty Eduardo Rodriguez, as the Rangers go with Adam Rosales at second base. Rosales will bat eighth in the order.
Sun May 24 201516:45Field out of lineup Sunday against Yankees
Field is out of the lineup Sunday against the Yankees, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Field will sit for the second straight time and third in the last four days Sunday, with Adam Rosales once again starting at second base. It's unclear if a time-shift may be occurring at second base, but the .250/.314/.469 batting line he Field owns isn't terrible.
Thu May 21 201514:53Field not in lineup Thursday against Red Sox
Field is not in the lineup Thursday against the Red Sox, Rangers VP of Comm. John Blake reports.
Field has assumed the primary second base duties since the demotion of Rougned Odor, and although he's just 6-for-27 (.222), two of those hits have been home runs. Adam Rosales will draw the start at the keystone in his stead and bat seventh Thursday.
Sun May 17 201513:24Field out of lineup Sunday against Indians
Field is out of the lineup Sunday against the Indians, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Field has served as the Rangers' primary second baseman since the demotion of Rougned Odor, going 5-for-21 with a pair of solo homers and a stolen base across six games. Though Adam Rosales will get a look at the keystone Sunday, Field's early success should allow him to maintain a hold on the starting job until his bat begins to cool.
Mon May 11 201516:30Field
Field, whose contract was purchased Monday, is in the lineup at second base against the Royals, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Field has been hitting well at Triple-A Round Rock, posting a .298/.373/.538 slash line with 13 RBI and five home runs in 28 games. With Rougned Odor optioned to Round Rock on Monday, Field will come up and will get the start Monday, batting eighth against Kansas City's Danny Duffy.

Field signed a minor league contract with the Rangers on Tuesday that includes an invite to spring training, MLB.com reports.
Field spent most of the 2014 campaign with the Angels' Triple-A Salt Lake affiliate, slashing .285/.351/.440 with seven homers in 80 games, before a mid-August waiver claim brought him to the Pirates. The spring training invite from the Rangers is a nice gesture, but Field is just a .224/.272/.224 career hitter at the major league level and his chances of breaking camp with a utility infield role seem slim, at best.
Sun Aug 24 201415:31Field designated for assignment by Pirates on Sunday
Field was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Sunday.
Field's designation means he won't play in the majors this season unless another team claims him. He played 10 games with Triple-A Indianapolis after being claimed by the Pirates, and posted a .297 average with nine RBI and six runs scored over that period.

Field was claimed off waivers by the Pirates and optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday.
Field has spent 2014 at the Triple-A Salt Lake with the Angels but was recently released by the team and claimed by the Pirates. He hit .285/.351/.440 with the Triple-A club, and will now join the Pirates with a possibility of being a September callup for the club.

Sat Jul 20 201318:21Angels add infielder Field to bench
Angels recalled infielder Thomas Field from Triple-A Salt Lake.
The 25-year-old Field had been on quite a tear offensively the last month and a half, hitting nine homers since the beginning of June, and he will give the Angels a little more defense than Brendan Harris did in a utility role. Overall, he was batting .297/.390/.488 for Salt Lake, but his track record isn't nearly that good. He probably won't be of much help in AL-only leagues.
