Mon Feb 11 201311:38Will Ohman catches on with Nationals
Nationals signed LHP Will Ohman to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Ohman, 35, posted an ugly 6.41 ERA over 32 appearances for the White Sox last season, but he's held left-handed batters to a .210/.294/.348 batting line during his career. The Nats have no left-handers that are a guarantee to make the Opening Day bullpen, so it's a good spot for the veteran southpaw.

Will Ohman has elected free agency.
On the surface, Ohman struggled through his 26 2/3 innings with the White Sox in 2012, posting a horrifying 6.41 ERA. He did post a solid WHIP of 1.05 though, and a 13/5 K/BB ratio, and most of the ERA damage was due to allowing six home runs. He'll attempt to latch on elsewhere as a left-handed relief specialist.

Ohman was designated for assignment by the Pale Hose at the end of June. The veteran southpaw still pretty effective against left-handed batters and should draw plenty of interest on the free agent market.

Mon Jan 10 201117:28White Sox finalize contract with Will Ohman
White Sox signed LHP Will Ohman to a two-year, $4 million contract.
Ohman, 33, is one of the most effective left-handed specialists in the game, holding left-handed batters to a .208/.298/.348 with a 646 OPS during his career. There's still a lot to be determined in Ozzie Guillen's bullpen, but the addition of Ohman could move fellow left-hander Matt Thornton into the closer role, clearing the way for Chris Sale to become a starter. Stay tuned.
Sat Jan 8 201113:10Report: Ohman signs 2-year deal with ChiSox
According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, Will Ohman and the White Sox have agreed to a two-year, $4 million contract, pending a physical.
This move could allow Matt Thornton to move to the closer role, with Ohman becoming the lefty specialist. Ohman posted a 3.21 ERA through a combined 68 appearances for Baltimore and Florida last year, with 43 strikeouts over 42 innings pitched. The back of the White Sox bullpen is still largely unsettled, with Chris Sale as another possibility for the ninth inning, so be sure to track this situation leading up to and through spring training.

Fri Jan 7 201118:32Report: White Sox favorite to land Will Ohman
Sources tell Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun that the White Sox are the favorites to sign Will Ohman.
A decision is reportedly close, and the Orioles are out of the running. An Ohman signing would give the Sox the flexibility to shift Chris Sale into the rotation and Matt Thornton into the closer role, leaving Ohman as a left-handed specialist. It's a situation worth monitoring.

Fri Jan 7 201116:39Ohman deciding between 3 A.L. teams
Will Ohman will sign with one of three American League teams according to Jon Heyman of SI.com.
The oft-injured 32-year-old spent the latter part of 2010 pitching for the Marlins following a trade deadline move from Baltimore, where he threw 30.0 innings. There's a good chance Ohman returns to the A.L. East, as the Rays, Blue Jays, Red Sox, and O's are all in the market for a left-handed specialist. Look for Ohman to sign a one-year contract on the smaller side of $1 million.

Wed Dec 29 201013:46O's could still sign Ohman, Hendrickson
Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com writes that "the door hasn't closed" on the Orioles re-signing Will Ohman or Mark Hendrickson.
Ohman has expressed an interest in returning, even though the Orioles traded him to the Marlins at the July 31 trade deadline. The 33-year-old left-hander posted a 3.21 ERA and 43/23 K/BB ratio over 42 innings last season, though he is more of a specialist at this point of his career. Hendrickson, 36, posted a 5.26 ERA and 55/20 K/BB ratio over 75 1/3 innings last season and is nothing more than a mop-up man. The O's declined his $1.2 million option for 2011 last month.

Sat Jul 31 201015:17Teams still talking to O's about Ohman, Wiggy
The Orioles are still working the phone lines with teams, discussing possible deals involving Will Ohman and Ty Wigginton, according to the Baltimore Sun's Dan Connolly.
Connolly says that Ohman seems to be more likely to be shipped out than Wigginton at this point. The Red Sox are looking for a left-handed reliever, but it's not clear whether Ohman has piqued their interest.

Fri Jul 30 201012:27Giants have asked O's about Ohman
A source tells Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com that the Giants have asked the Orioles about left-hander Will Ohman, however a deal doesn't seem likely.
Ohman gave up three runs over one-third of an inning on Wednesday, inflating his ERA to 3.41 for the year, but he has actually been pretty solid, especially against left-handers. Even if they don't find a deal with the Giants, the O's should be able to acquire a decent prospect or two.

Fri Jul 23 201017:36Giants looking at left Ohman
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Giants have interest in left-hander Will Ohman.
With few southpaws available in trade talks, the Orioles might be able to land a couple of quality prospect for Ohman. He had a 2.57 ERA in 28 innings, and left-handers are hitting just .196 against him.

Sun Jun 6 201018:41Ohman lets first save chance slip away
Will Ohman blew a save against the Red Sox on Sunday, failing to protect a one-run ninth inning lead although the Orioles eventually won.
It was Ohman's first save chance this year but he muffed it by allowing two singles and a game-tying sacrifice fly. Dave Trembley made it clear that Ohman was his preferred choice for save opportunities, but now that he's gone who knows what route the Orioles will take.
Sat Jun 5 201022:26Orioles' Ohman gives up four runs
Will Ohman gave up four runs without retiring a batter in the ninth inning Saturday against the Red Sox.
It wasn't a save situation, but Ohman made sure the Orioles wouldn't make a game of it after coming in with Boston ahead 2-0. He gave up a walk, an intentional walk and then back-to-back doubles before being pulled. Ohman remains first in line for saves in the Baltimore pen at the moment, but the team isn't providing him with any chances.
Fri May 28 201017:41Ohman will close for O's
Manager Dave Trembley said Friday that Will Ohman is his ninth-inning guy at the moment.
David Hernandez will work in middle and long relief for now. Ohman has yet to allow a run in 15 2/3 innings this season, but he could blow up at any time.

Tue May 25 201009:41Ohman likely to serve as O's interim closer
MLB.com's Britt Ghiroli believes that left-hander Will Ohman will get the majority of save chances in Baltimore with Alfredo Simon sidelined.
Triple-A Norfolk closer Frank Mata will be called up this week and is also a darkhorse for saves, but Ohman is certainly the best bet. That is, until Mike Gonzalez returns from the disabled list in a few weeks. Ohman, 32, has not allowed a run in 14 2/3 innings of relief this season.

Sun Apr 4 201012:55Orioles purchase Ohman's contract
Orioles purchased the contract of LHP Will Ohman from Triple-A Norfolk.
Ohman earned his spot with a strong spring, 2-0 with a 1.04 ERA and a .69 WHIP in 8 2/3 innings, and his experience as a mop-up man. The Orioles will be looking to protect their young starters by limiting their innings and having a guy like Ohman there to pitch the fifth and sixth innings of a lost cause is a good way to do it.
