Wed Dec 22 202119:08Tacko Fall Makes His First Career Start On Wednesday
Cleveland Cavaliers center Tacko Fall will have a night to remember on Wednesday, as he'll record his first career start against Boston. This will also be the first appearance since Dec. 10 for the former Celtic. Cleveland is forced to go with Fall because all the regular bigs are in the league's health and safety protocols. It would be great to see Fall go off for a big performance, but fantasy managers shouldn't bet on it. The likes of Lauri Markkanen and Dean Wade will carry the frontcourt, with a dose of Kevin Love (foot) as well if he's deemed healthy enough to play.

DENVER (AP) — The Denver Nuggets made another aggressive move at the trade deadline by acquiring forward Aaron Gordon from the Orlando Magic. The Nuggets officially announced the deal for Gordon late Thursday night. In exchange, the Magic receive veteran shooting guard Gary Harris, rookie R.J. Hampton and a future first-round draft pick. Denver also is receiving forward Gary Clark as part of the trade package. The 25-year-old Gordon averaged 14.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Magic this season. He was the fourth overall pick by Orlando in the 2014 draft. Gordon could find himself in the running to be in Denver's starting rotation — possibly in place of veteran Paul Millsap. He would join a lineup that includes Michael Porter Jr., Jamal Murray, Will Barton and All-Star big man Nikola Jokic as the Nuggets chase after their first... [More]

Wed Sep 2 202003:08Players try to stay busy, ready sitting on the bubble bench
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — Tyson Chandler figured sitting on the bench was better than sitting on the couch. He waited almost until the last minute before deciding he would join his Houston Rockets teammates for the restart. He was bored at home and wasn't going to feel any better if his team won a championship and he was watching it on TV.Then he came to Disney and got so sick he thought he had contracted the coronavirus he had spent all spring at home to avoid.“The first 48 hours, I was going like, ‘What the ... did you do?’” Chandler said. “I was like, ‘Come on, man.’”His health got better and eventually so did the experience. He's glad he came. But for players like Chandler, guys at the end of the bench, being inside the bubble is challenging on several levels. While stars like James Harden and LeBron James deal with the same mental fatigue being at Disney presents, they know when the game starts and the lights come on what time it is. Chandler has no idea if his number will even be... [More]

Wed Feb 12 202014:14At All-Star Game, Africa's potential will be showcased
The moment was not lost on Giannis Antetokounmpo. The NBA's reigning MVP, a Greek of Nigerian descent who is now starring in Milwaukee, was about to make his first two selections of this year's All-Star Game draft and understood how significant his words would be when they resonated across the world's second-largest continent. His first pick: Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid."My African brother," Antetokounmpo said. His second pick: Toronto’s Pascal Siakam."My second African brother," Antetokounmpo said.Just like that, a son of Nigerian migrants and two kids who were playing soccer in Cameroon before turning their attention to basketball less than a decade ago became set to take the NBA All-Star stage together. And when they're all on the floor to start the game in Chicago on Sunday night, it'll be hard to envision a more significant basketball moment for Africa — a place that the NBA has long believed is a developing hotbed for the next wave of elite talent. But with Antetokounmpo, Embiid and Siakam... Fri Jan 24 202002:56Analysis: Too many players making mockery of All-Star voting
Once again, LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo are All-Star captains.Once again, the fans — mostly, anyway — got who they wanted as the game’s starters. And once again, too many NBA players made a mockery of their vote to decide which colleagues should start the league’s showcase exhibition. It’s time for the NBA to take the vote away from the players. It's clear too many don’t want the job. While fan voting pretty much set the tone for who will start Feb. 16 in Chicago, an AP analysis of the numbers shows that 380 players took part in the voting. The players, like the media and fans, voted for three frontcourt players and two guards apiece from the Eastern and Western Conferences.A look inside those numbers reveals a growing concern. Antetokounmpo — the league’s reigning MVP — got the most player votes, with 258. That means 67.9% of players who voted thought he was worthy of an All-Star start. More importantly, that means 32.1% of players who voted thought he should either come off the... [More]
