Josh Geer is hoping to resume his career in July after having surgery in April to remove a cancerous lymph node from the right side of his neck.

Geer, 27, was pitching for Triple-A Tucson when he learned of the cancer in April. "They removed a total 10 lymph nodes but found cancer in only one," said Geer. The Padres third-round pick in 2005 was 1-7 with a 5.96 ERA in 19 appearances -- 17 starts -- for San Diego in 2009.
