According to Michael Scotto of USA Today, the Utah Jazz are waiving Vernon Carey Jr. on Friday. Across his three seasons in the NBA so far, Carey has only appeared in 37 games and played a total of 187 minutes. He was a second-round draft pick by the Hornets and was part of the trade that sent Montrezl Harrell from Washington to Charlotte. A rebuilding team might take a flyer on Carey but he wouldn't be anywhere close to the fantasy radar.

Washington Wizards center Vernon Carey Jr. entered the NBA's concussion protocol on Thursday morning. The team said that the symptoms stem from a minor traffic accident. As of right now, it doesn't sound like anything too serious. Carey was traded to the Wizards last season in the deal that sent Montrezl Harrell to the Hornets. He's only played three games with the team since then, in which he put up 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game on 57.1% shooting from the floor. While there's been plenty of talk of the 21-year-old's potential since he was drafted, he doesn't carry much importance when it comes to fantasy. Until he starts getting real minutes, fantasy managers don't need to keep tabs on the big man.
