Sun Oct 29 202321:50James Wiseman Probable On Monday
Detroit Pistons center James Wiseman (finger) is expected to suit up on Monday in Oklahoma City. The 2020 No. 2 overall pick hasn't done anything for fantasy managers this season, considering he's been held off the floor by head coach Monty Williams. As a result, Wiseman isn't someone to consider using in any fantasy setup, and that shouldn't change until he receives a routine role in the rotation. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon.

Fri Oct 13 202310:24James Wiseman Posts Double-Double Off Of The Bench
Detroit Pistons center James Wiseman came off of the bench on Thursday and played 23 minutes in the team's preseason win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 22-year-old ended with 20 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block while hitting all eight of his shots. Even with Jalen Duren (ankle) missing this contest, Wiseman played the backup role to Marvin Bagley III. He made the most of his opportunity with an excellent game, but when it comes to the regular season, he should still be relegated to a backup role behind Duren. Wiseman will likely be a streamer at best unless injuries shift the rotation.

Wed Oct 4 202321:45James Wiseman, Marvin Bagley III Fighting For Bench Role
Detroit Pistons head coach Monty Williams says forwards/centers James Wiseman and Marvin Bagley III are competing for "the backup big spot." Williams tends to prefer smaller lineups, so that seems to leave a very low fantasy floor for one or the other with 2022 first-round pick Jalen Duren locked in as the starting center. It helps their respective causes that Isaiah Livers (ankle) is down for six-to-eight weeks with an ankle injury, but it sounds like Wiseman and Bagley are more or less fighting for scraps.Fantasy managers in shallow leagues might want to steer clear from the two big men with no clear pathway to minutes having presented itself at this point. Isaiah Stewart, who appears to be solidified as Detroit's backup power forward, is probably the Pistons big worth a flier pick this draft season.

Sun Jul 9 202310:14James Wiseman Bags A Nice Double-Double
Detroit Pistons center James Wiseman ruled the paint versus Orlando on Saturday, notching 16 points and 12 rebounds in an 89-78 victory. He also swatted away two shots while shooting 6-for-10 from the field with a 1-for-3 effort from outside. Wiseman is looking to rebuild his reputation as a second-overall pick and he had a good spell with the Pistons last season, logging 12.7 points and 8.1 rebounds after arriving from Golden State. The Summer League offers him an opportunity to rebuild further confidence.

Tue Jul 4 202313:11James Wiseman A Candidate To Be Traded This Summer
According to James Edwards III of The Athletic, center James Wiseman is a candidate to get moved this summer. The 22-year-old, taken No. 2 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Warriors, spent most of his time in Golden State on the shelf because of a knee injury. He was traded to Detroit ahead of last season's deadline and was relatively productive, averaging career-highs in points (12.7) and rebounds (8.1). However, Wiseman is currently buried on the team's depth chart, with Jalen Duren and Marvin Bagley III ahead. But the former Memphis Tiger may benefit from a change of scenery, especially if it opens the door for more playing time. Dynasty managers should hold on to him for now, considering his value can't go anywhere but up moving forward.

Sun Mar 5 202319:51James Wiseman Questionable Against Portland
Detroit Pistons center James Wiseman (knee) is questionable for Monday's meeting with the visiting Portland Trail Blazers. The former Warrior is in danger of joining Isaiah Stewart (hip), Bojan Bogdanovic (Achilles), and Jalen Duren (ankle) on the shelf for this one, so Detroit could be even more shorthanded. As a result, Marvin Bagley III, who had 20 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks in Saturday's loss to Cleveland, is expected to remain in the starting lineup. Without question, Bagley will be a popular fantasy option, with Isaiah Livers in line to see extra work. Livers had seven points, four boards, and a steal on Saturday, so he'll at least offer something for fantasy managers in deeper setups.

Tue Feb 28 202307:50James Wiseman Notches 23 Points With Only Two Misses
Detroit Pistons center James Wiseman nearly had a perfect performance from the field while racking up 23 points in Monday's 117-106 loss to the Hornets. He made his lone attempt from deep and shot 9-for-11 overall with a 4-for-6 effort at the foul line. Across 27 minutes of action, Wiseman was also able to grab seven rebounds. The former Warrior has averaged 13.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in his first four games with Detroit. It's been a good start for Wiseman at his new club, and injuries to Isaiah Stewart (hip) and Jalen Duren (ankle) should help him to maintain the momentum.

Sat Feb 11 202323:23James Wiseman Questionable On Sunday
Detroit Pistons center James Wiseman is questionable ahead of Sunday's meeting with Toronto. Wiseman's career has been a disappointment, as injuries and unproductive play have plagued the 2020 No. 2 overall pick over the years. That said, he'll get a fresh start in Detroit, although a few things need to be worked out before he suits up. However, even if Wiseman receives the green light, he's not expected to be a reliable fantasy contributor versus the Raptors, especially with Jalen Duren, who had 30 points and 17 rebounds in the double-overtime win over the Spurs on Friday, manning the middle.

Fri Feb 10 202313:152023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.

Moves That Matter

These are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career.Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [More]
Wed Jan 25 202321:34James Wiseman To Be Available On Wednesday
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman (ankle) is available for Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The young center has been sidelined since December 25th due to a left ankle sprain. The expectation is that the Warriors are going to ease him back into action. He'll be forced to compete with Draymond Green and Kevon Looney for playing time in the rotation. It seems unlikely that Wiseman has a significant role in the rotation anytime soon. That being said, fantasy managers can take the wait-and-see approach with Wiseman.

Fri Dec 30 202220:57James Wiseman Misses Friday's Action
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman (ankle) hasn't been able to shake off a questionable tag and will miss Friday's meeting with Portland. The talented big man is nursing a left ankle sprain. Wiseman had a big 30-point outing against Brooklyn last week, but it's not been a fun campaign overall for him, and being sidelined by injury will likely frustrate him even more. This could've been a great matchup for him, as Portland has struggled to contain opposing centers all year. Kevon Looney will now get to thoroughly enjoy the game with Draymond Green, while there should be a few more minutes available for Jonathan Kuminga as well.

Fri Dec 30 202216:50James Wiseman Picks Up Questionable Tag For Friday
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman (ankle) has been deemed questionable to participate in Friday's contest vs. Portland due to a sprained left ankle. Wiseman has played sparingly over the prior three outings, but he erupted for a career-high 30 points Dec. 21 while coming off the bench. Wiseman has spent time in the G League this season, with Kevon Looney and JaMychal Green (leg) supplanting him on the depth chart. While the 21-year-old is still packed with potential, the Warriors have yet to hand him a minutes share consistent enough to merit season-long fantasy consideration. Another absence Friday would open up added minutes for Looney and Jonathan Kuminga in the frontcourt.

Thu Dec 22 202212:37James Wiseman Has Career Night Against Nets
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman received close to 30 minutes of playing time for the first time since April of the 2020-21 season and he didn't disappoint. The third-year big man posted his new career-high in points with 30 on 12-for-14 shooting from the floor and 5-for-8 from the free-throw line. He also added a three on top of six rebounds, two assists, and one block. This was his best game, by far, in a long time. Fantasy managers may want to hold off from chasing that type of output just yet though. As of right now, this game is one big outlier.

Wed Dec 21 202216:42James Wiseman Picks Up Questionable Tag For Wednesday
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman (thumb) has been deemed questionable to suit up for Wednesday's contest vs. the Nets due to a sprained left thumb. Wiseman logged a season-best 22 minutes Tuesday but was held to just four points and three rebounds, while accruing five fouls. Injuries have given a stop/start nature to Wiseman's career since he was chosen with the second overall pick in 2020, while Kevon Looney has firmly secured the starting five spot. An absence from Wiseman could open up additional minutes for Draymond Green or Jonathan Kuminga as small ball centers against Brooklyn.

Thu Sep 22 202215:23Golden State Expresses Confidence In James Wiseman
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman (knee) has been consistently participating in pickup games at the team's facility over the past month, head coach Steve Kerr revealed, citing that the team is looking to find ways to integrate the 21-year-old into the rotation. The second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft did not suit up last season due to knee issues, which allowed Kevon Looney to emerge as the team's starting center and defensive stalwart, culminating in the veteran inking a three-year, $25.5 million extension. Wiseman has appeared in just 39 regular-season games (27 starts) but he has averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in that time. The big man's fantasy viability is unclear as Golden State determines his role in the rotation at the start of the '22-23 year.

Mon Jul 18 202211:41James Wiseman Solid In Summer League Finale
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman put together a solid performance during the Summer League finale on Sunday. The young center finished with 11 points, six rebounds, and two assists in 19 minutes. This game marked the fourth straight contest that Wiseman has been able to suit up. That is the most contests Wiseman has played in a row since early in his rookie campaign. The Warriors are likely going to be cautious with the young center early in the season. However, Wiseman could turn into a reliable fantasy option, assuming he can actually stay healthy.

Sat Jul 16 202213:27James Wiseman Looks Good On Friday Night
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman finished with 14 points in the loss to OKC in Las Vegas on Friday night. As expected, the big man logged just over 20 minutes. He went 4-for-6 from the field, draining his lone attempt from deep while adding seven boards, two assists, and a block. Throughout Summer Leauge, the 2020 No. 2 overall pick has proven he's healthy and ready to go in 2022-23 after missing over a year due to a knee injury. Although Kevon Looney is still in the picture, Wiseman should offer plenty of upside for fantasy managers during the regular season.

Tue Jul 12 202223:35James Wiseman Compiles Three Blocks On Tuesday
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman finished with six points on 3-for-9 shooting during the loss to Boston in Las Vegas on Tuesday. While his scoring output was discouraging, he made up for it by adding seven rebounds and three blocks. Wiseman continues to find his rhythm after missing so much time because of a meniscus tear. He needs to calm down a bit to avoid getting into foul trouble, and it would be reassuring for fantasy managers if he receives more minutes in each of the remaining Summer League games. However, the 21-year-old appears to be trending in the right direction.

Sun Jul 10 202222:10James Wiseman Logs 20 Minutes In Return
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman (knee) had 11 points on an efficient 5-for-7 from the field during the Summer League win over San Antonio. He added two rebounds and two blocks, although he also had three turnovers and found himself in foul trouble. Nonetheless, considering the 21-year-old hasn't played in well over a year due to a meniscus tear, it was a solid showing across his 20 minutes of work. It's unknown if Wiseman will return to the floor in Las Vegas. However, he probably won't receive much work if he does, as the Dubs may remain cautious with the 2020 No. 2 overall pick.

Sat Jul 9 202220:54James Wiseman To Make Summer League Debut
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman (knee) will make his summer league debut on Saturday. The former No. 2 pick has not played since his rookie season in 2020. Wiseman has worked hard to get back on the court following knee surgery. The expectation is that the Warriors are going to be extremely cautious with Wiseman. They will likely ease him back into action this summer. Hopefully, Wiseman will be able to make an impact on the Warriors this season. He'll likely have to split minutes at the center spot with Kevon Looney. That being said, it could be tough for either player to have consistent fantasy value next season.
