Sat Jun 24 202321:25Pistons Waive R.J. Hampton
The Pistons waived guard R.J. Hampton on Saturday. Assuming he clears waivers, he'll become an unrestricted free agent, allowing him to sign with any team. The 22-year-old was taken with the No. 24 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and has already played for three teams (Denver, Orlando, Detroit). Unfortunately, he's averaged only 7.1 points during his career, so it's safe to say he's fallen below expectations. Hampton will likely earn a spot somewhere heading into the 2023-24 campaign. However, he has a long way to go before becoming a viable fantasy asset.

Tue Feb 21 202318:14R.J. Hampton Waived By Magic
Orlando Magic guard R.J. Hampton has been waived by the organization on Tuesday. The 22-year-old averaged 22.9 minutes during his first season. However, Hampton saw his minutes drop to 13.9 during his second season in the league. In a somewhat surprising move, the Magic have decided to move on from the young guard. Although, the Magic do have plenty of depth at guard, so they don't exactly need Hampton on their roster. He should be able to find another team due to his potential alone. Although, his fantasy value is going to be dependent on his new team and how big of a role he gets in the rotation.

Fri Feb 25 202215:20R.J. Hampton Suffers Injury During Shootaround
Orlando Magic guard R.J. Hampton (ankle) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Houston Rockets. The young guard was set to return here after sitting out due to a sprained MCL. However, Hampton suffered a left ankle injury during Friday's morning shootaround. Fantasy managers might have to wait a little longer before getting to see Hampton on the court again. Once healthy, Hampton should get plenty of minutes for the rebuilding Magic roster. In the meantime, Terrence Ross and Gary Harris will benefit with Hampton off the court. Both players are mainly deep league assets and shouldn't have value for much longer.

Sat Dec 25 202120:52R.J. Hampton Available For Sunday
Orlando Magic guard R.J. Hampton will be available for Sunday's game against the Miami Heat. He has been sidelined due to safety protocols and was held out of Thursday's game due to conditioning reasons. The Magic are still without multiple players due to protocols. That being said, Hampton should have a significant role in the rotation going forward. He could hold some deep league value, but is probably too inconsistent for most formats.

Fri Dec 17 202118:55Terrence Ross, R.J. Hampton Land In Safety Protocols, Out Friday
Orlando Magic small forward Terrence Ross and point/shooting guard R.J. Hampton have been placed in the league's health and safety protocols and will miss at least Friday night's game. Their absence has left the Magic backcourt extremely thin with Cole Anthony (ankle) and Jalen Suggs (thumb) sidelined; Gary Harris and Mychal Mulder are the only usual backcourt members active against the Heat. Ross had begun to find his offensive rhythm over his past four contests, in which he averaged 18 points per game off the bench; Hampton made his first start of the season Wednesday and logged 15 points. The next chance that either of the duo has to suit up comes Saturday vs. Brooklyn, although that seems highly unlikely due to the nature of the protocols.

Sun Nov 21 202108:40R.J. Hampton Has A Productive Outing Against Bucks
Orlando Magic point guard R.J. Hampton had his best game of the season on Saturday, getting to a team-high 19 points, five rebounds and nine assists in a 117-108 loss against Milwaukee. He added one steal to his line with two turnovers in 28 minutes off the bench, shooting 6-for-12 from the field and 5-for-9 from downtown. Hampton took advantage of extra minutes that were available because of Cole Anthony's (ankle) absence. Anthony sprained his right ankle in Friday's 115-113 loss to Brooklyn and these injuries could take some serious time to hear. Hampton's fantasy stock will shoot up if Anthony is forced to spend some time on the sidelines.
