Fri Mar 2216:51Moses Moody Deemed Questionable On Friday
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody (knee) has been tagged as questionable for their Friday matchup against the Indiana Pacers. Unfortunately, for his fantasy value, the rest of the team is healthy, so if he does end up playing he's not the best option in the fantasy playoffs. If he has to watch from the sidelines, however, Brandin Podziemski, Chris Paul, and Klay Thompson will likely split up the vacant minutes. There could be one path to playing time if Moody gets to play and that would have to be a blowout in favor of either team.

Mon Mar 1119:03Moses Moody To Play On Monday
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody (knee) has been cleared to play ahead of Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. Moody will make his way back to the court after being listed as probable on the injury report. Despite being active, Moody isn't worth streaming in most fantasy formats. Gary Payton II (illness) should be active, which takes away most of the potential from Moody.

Sun Mar 1019:16Moses Moody Probable To Face Spurs
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody (knee) is considered probable to play on Monday against the San Antonio Spurs. The third-year combo guard has stepped into a bigger role lately, especially while Stephen Curry (ankle) is sidelined for a couple of games. Moody has been receiving 24.1 minutes per contest over the last seven games and started in four of those. During that span, he's averaged 10.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 1.0 turnovers, and 1.1 made threes per game. Moody makes a good streaming option in deeper leagues for fantasy managers who need a handful of points, threes, and rebounds.

Tue Feb 2717:51Moses Moody Starting On Tuesday
Golden State Warriors guard/forward Moses Moody will take Andrew Wiggins' (personal) position in the starting lineup on Tuesday against Washington. The 21-year-old gets a big opportunity to impress after logging just 10 total minutes across the previous two games. Moody has had four previous starts this season, averaging 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in the role. The Warriors will have Chris Paul back in action on Tuesday, while Gary Payton II and Lester Quinones could also get some extra burn with Wiggins out, especially with the game expected to turn into a blowout.

Tue Jan 3022:09Moses Moody Cleared For Practice
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody (calf) has been cleared to return to team practices on Tuesday. Moody is getting closer to a return after being sidelined since January 10 due to a left calf strain. He won't play on Tuesday versus the Philadelphia 76ers. Although, Moody could be back within the next few games. Moody had inconsistent minutes before the injury, so his fantasy value is shaky. It's worth noting that Chris Paul (hand) is still sidelined, so that could lead to an increased role for Moody. Fantasy managers can use a wait-and-see approach here.

Thu Nov 30 202320:36Moses Moody Shifts Into Starting Five
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody will move into the starting five ahead of Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Warriors will be without Andrew Wiggins (finger) for this game, so Moody will get the start on Thursday. It's worth noting that Golden State is also without Chris Paul (leg) and Gary Payton II (calf) for this game. That means, Moody could see fairly decent minutes, which gives him some streaming appeal.

Sat Oct 21 202307:00NBA Draft 2023: Second-Round Rookies to Watch Early
It's funny that every year at the NBA Draft, once the end of the guaranteed money and live appearances arrives at the end of the first round, everybody tunes out and refers to the 60th pick as "Mr. Irrelevant." That's not very accurate though, is it?Speaking historically, the title of "Mr. Irrelevant" could just as easily be applied to each pick in the draft, as organizations differ greatly in their evaluation of talent and their own needs, particularly in a year without the NCAA tournament. The nickname just doesn't reflect how basketball works anymore. Executives strategically stockpile second-round draft picks for the less burdensome financial obligations, and organizations in rebuilding mode get super creative to field a respectable team on a budget.Particularly in the NBA where worldwide talent is plentiful and positional lines continue to fade, the opportunity is everything: in the right situation, the right under-the-radar player can make an immediate, poignant statement. With professional development leagues for 16-18-year-olds, an ever-expanding set of domestic/international opportunities due to the sheer growth of basketball, and widespread NIL rights for college athletes, players of all levels and localities are starting to get their due exposure and now have enough freedom to hone their skills in a place, and at a pace, that fits best with their path to the NBA.

Introduction

I am inherently skeptical and distrusting of scouting from the high school level to pre-Draft. That's why in this annual article, I tend to favor overlooked college players (love the mid-majors/non-power conferences) with either well-rounded, polished games or specific statistical specialties. We are going to discuss a handful of 2023 second-round picks and undrafted free agent signees who, given their individual skillsets and circumstances, warrant the attention of Fantasy Basketball Managers as potential high-impact rookies for the 2023-24 campaign who can quietly be acquired on clearance once they start showing signs of emergence. As I will frequently emphasize and reiterate: in 2023, there is very little difference between the vast majority of second-round draft picks and undrafted free agents--it always all comes down to the skillsets they possess, their capacity for growth, and the situations they've landed in.Seasons will be made and broken with early identification of the diamond-in-the-rough rookies. I used to list out the many examples from the past season in this introduction portion, but we are now in a beautiful era where there are just too many to count. There is also very little separating the featured players below and those dubbed "Honorable Mentions"--so put in the work and keep an eye out throughout the regular season for who is receiving and seizing their opportunities.

Wed Oct 26 202211:13Moses Moody Scores 13 Points In Extended Time
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody was the main beneficiary of Klay Thompson's ejection and the lopsided score on Tuesday night. After only getting 18 minutes, at most, during the first three games, Moody was on the floor for 25 minutes against the Phoenix Suns. He registered 13 points, three rebounds, one steal and three blocks while shooting 2-for-4 from deep and 4-for-9 overall. In dynasty formats, Moody is a surefire add for all fantasy managers. Other than that, there are better options in other formats at this time. Managers should keep tabs on how much playing time Moody continues to get.

Tue Jul 12 202223:25Moses Moody Struggles Shooting Against Boston
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody finished with 21 points during the loss to Boston in Las Vegas on Tuesday evening. He also had four assists, three rebounds, and three steals. However, the 20-year-old had trouble getting his shots to fall by going 6-for-19 from the field and 2-for-9 from deep. The 2021 first-round pick has played well throughout Summer League, but he probably won't see the court often during the regular season. Yet, dynasty managers should keep Moody on the roster, as he could be a few years away from tapping into his full potential.

Sat Jul 9 202216:13Moses Moody Drops 34 Points In Summer League
Golden State Warriors shooting guard/small forward Moses Moody had his entire offensive arsenal working during Friday's Summer League defeat to the Knicks. Moody dropped a game-best 34 points on 8-for-13 shooting, confounding New York's defense while going 15-for-17 from the free-throw stripe. In addition to his enormous scoring output, the 20-year-old added five rebounds and two blocks across his 27 minutes. While Golden State shapes up to once again be deep on the wing in 2022-23, Moody's game packs a significant scoring punch; he could see significant DFS appeal during the regular season on nights where the Warriors are shorthanded.

Wed Jul 6 202200:38Moses Moody Scores 13 Points On Tuesday
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody played well during the Summer League loss to Miami on Tuesday. The 20-year-old came out firing in this one, scoring eight of his 13 points within the first six minutes of the contest. He also provided in other areas, adding three assists, three steals, and a block. Moody averaged 4.4 points and 1.5 rebounds while shooting 36.4% during his rookie campaign, although he didn't see much action throughout his 52 contests. However, since the Dubs might have some openings in the rotation in 2022-23, he may receive more work. He certainly won't be a day-to-day fantasy option. But considering head coach Steve Kerr is known to rest his superstars, especially around back-to-back sets, Moody could make a few appearances in the starting lineup this season.

Sun Apr 10 202221:20Moses Moody To Start On Sunday
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody will move into the starting five for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. He'll be joined by Jordan Poole, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Kevon Looney in the regular season finale. Andrew Wiggins (rest) will sit this one out, so Moody will get a chance with the starters. There's plenty of upside here in DFS contests considering Moody will be ridiculously cheap.

Mon Mar 21 202222:27Moses Moody Questionable For Tuesday Evening
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody (shoulder) has a shot at playing against the Magic on Tuesday night. The 19-year-old remains questionable because of right shoulder soreness, which caused him to miss the Warriors' previous matchup on Sunday versus the San Antonio Spurs. Nonetheless, with the team playing its first of back-to-back contests, he may sit out one more before returning on Wednesday in Miami. Without him, Chris Chiozza may continue to get some extra work. However, he's not worth much of anything from a fantasy perspective. However, Chiozza's ceiling could increase a bit more if Klay Thompson, who may get the night off to rest, and Moody aren't available.

Tue Mar 8 202221:20Moses Moody Remains In Starting Five
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody will remain in the starting five for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. On Monday, Moody started while a majority of the regular starters sat out for rest purposes. He dropped a career-high 30 points, which could be part of the reason he is in there again for this one. Also, Gary Payton II (knee) has been ruled out, so the Warriors are likely starting Moody because of that as well. His fantasy value will take a significant hit with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins back for this game. Moody could have some deep league value, but shouldn't be counted on to drop 30 points again.

Thu Mar 3 202209:29Moses Moody Probable For Thursday
Golden State Warriors shooting guard/small forward Moses Moody (eye) is listed as probable for Thursday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. The rookie was forced to leave the team's last game on Tuesday due to a left eye contusion. He only logged seven minutes before the injury and he didn't return. Moody started each of the team's last two games with Klay Thompson (illness) sidelined due to an illness. It seems likely that Thompson will return for Thursday's game, so Moody will see his minutes take a hit. He'll be coming off the bench alongside fellow wingmen Jordan Poole and Damion Lee. Moody doesn't need to be rostered in any fantasy formats as he's failed to put up sufficient stats even when the minutes have been there.

Tue Mar 1 202221:55Moses Moody Not Returning On Tuesday
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody (eye) was forced to exit early during Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He took a shot to the face and headed to the locker room in the first quarter. The team is calling the injury a left eye contusion and Moody won't return to Tuesday's contest. Both Jordan Poole and Damion Lee will see increased playing time with Moody sidelined. Poole is the better option between the two and could have some streaming appeal, assuming Moody misses more than just Tuesday's game.

Thu Feb 3 202221:22Moses Moody To Start On Thursday
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody will remain in the starting five for Thursday's game against the Sacramento Kings. He dropped a career-high 20 points during his last contest. However, that was a game where the Warriors decided to rest a majority of their starting unit. Moody will be joined by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Kevon Looney on Thursday. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect Moody to have another 20-point performance here. He'll be a possible deep league option, but doesn't have much upside.

Sun Dec 19 202113:53Warriors Believe In Moses Moody
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody has been given praise by head coach Steve Kerr following Saturday's contest. "Moses is going to be a really good player in this league," coach Steve Kerr said. "He's got a good feel." On Saturday, Moody finished with 11 points and eight rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench. The Warriors were resting their key players, so that's why Mood received more playing time. Although, the return of Klay Thompson is likely going to slow down his development. It sounds like the Warriors want to continue getting Moody involved, but it's unlikely he carries consistent fantasy value anytime soon.

Fri Dec 17 202118:41Moses Moody Joins Starting Five On Friday
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody will move into the starting five for Friday's game against the Boston Celtics. He'll be taking the place of Jordan Poole who is sidelined due to protocols. Moody hasn't done much for the Warriors this season, so it's a bit odd to see him making the start here. He is averaging 5.3 minutes per game in his 18 games. That is obviously going to increase here, but run him as a streaming option at your own risk. He hasn't played much this season, so him having success is not guaranteed.
