The Washington Wizards have signed guard Jared Butler to a two-way contract on Monday. The 22-year-old has spent time with both the Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder. In two seasons, Butler has averaged 4.1 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 9.1 minutes per game. He looked solid in the Summer League as he averaged 20.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in four appearances. He should get a chance to compete for a roster spot on the rebuilding Wizards.

Utah Jazz guard Jared Butler played a team-high 27 minutes in Wednesday's Summer League game against the Toronto Raptors. He racked up 12 points, six assists, three steals and two rebounds in the game while shooting 5-for-16 from the field and 2-for-8 from three-point range. Butler had a trainwreck of a performance in his previous outing against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. He shot just 3-for-22 in the game while going 0-for-10 from downtown. If the Jazz wind up trading both Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley this summer, Butler could become a trendy fantasy sleeper. The 21-year-old played sparingly as a rookie last year, but has the tools to be a solid source of assists and three-pointers if the minutes are there.

Utah Jazz shooting guard Jared Butler had the green light from the tip in Thursday's Summer League defeat to Memphis, as he finished with a game-best 22 points on 8-for-21 shooting overall. Butler hoisted a whopping 15 triples, four of which found the bottom of the net. While he played a team-high 29 minutes, he also chipped in seven boards and a team-leading seven dimes. The path to regular-season playing time for the 21-year-old got massively complicated by the Rudy Gobert trade, which brought Patrick Beverley, Malik Beasley and Leandro Bolmaro to the backcourt mix. For now, Butler will look to continue honing his game in the Summer League, where he appears to have offensive carte blanche.
