Wed Mar 1316:38Alperen Sengun Could Miss Rest Of The Season
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (ankle) was diagnosed with a Grade 3 right ankle sprain. In addition, he also has a bone bruise in his right knee. Sengun's injury could have been much worse. However, the 21-year-old is expected to miss "several weeks" and is unlikely to return before the end of the regular season. Houston is grasping and clawing to make the Play-In, so fantasy managers might not see Sengun back on the floor unless the Rockets make a deep postseason run. The 2021 No. 16 overall pick has established himself as one of the NBA's best big men in his third year in the league. He's appeared in 63 games, amassing 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.2 steals, all significantly higher than last season. At any rate, while Sengun remains on the shelf, Houston could play small ball, meaning Jabari Smith Jr. would handle most of the work at the five. Jock Landale, coming off an 11-point, five-assist, two-steal showing on Tuesday versus the Spurs, should also maintain a firm grasp on a spot in the rotation.

Mon Mar 1120:39Alperen Sengun Avoids Serious Injury
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (knee, ankle) suffered a scary injury during Sunday's game against the Sacramento Kings. The big man injured his leg and needed a wheelchair to help transport him back to the locker room. At first glance, it appeared Sengun suffered a significant leg injury. He has been diagnosed with a right knee bone bruise and a severely sprained right ankle. It looks like the Rockets dodged a bullet, but his timetable is still unknown right now. Jock Landale figures to be the one replacing Sengun in the starting five. Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore should also see additional minutes coming their way. Fantasy managers might want to use a wait-and-see approach right away.

Sun Mar 1020:36Alperen Sengun Wheelchaired Off On Sunday
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (knee/ankle) had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair during the fourth quarter of their game against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. The up-and-coming big man seemingly suffered a bad knee injury and wasn't able to get up for a while. He ultimately couldn't put any weight on his leg which called for the wheelchair to come out. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the team will perform an MRI on both his right knee and ankle, so fantasy managers will have to stay tuned. If he has to miss extended time, the next center on the depth chart is Jock Landale. Jeff Green has also seen some minutes at center and Boban Marjanovic is their third option.

Sun Feb 1120:19Alperen Sengun Back On The Injury Report
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (back) is questionable for Monday's game versus the Knicks. The 21-year-old is widely considered one of the best big men in the National Basketball Association. He missed his first game of the year on Saturday against the Hawks because of low back pain, allowing Jeff Green to enter the starting lineup. Green played well, amassing 19 points, six boards, and a block in 31 minutes of work, so he's definitely worth streaming if Sengun misses another game.

Sat Feb 1013:45Alperen Sengun Won't Play On Saturday
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (back) will miss Saturday's game in Atlanta. The 21-year-old is burdened by a back issue, and he played just 21 minutes in Friday's three-point loss to the Toronto Raptors. Unfortunately, he struggled on the scoring end in that one, ending the night with just seven points. It will be Sengun's first absence of the 2023-24 campaign, and he'll now join Fred VanVleet (thigh) on the shelf. With the Rockets down, arguably their two top offensive options, Jabari Smith Jr., Jalen Green, and Amen Thompson should see more scoring chances. But it could open the door for Jeff Green and Cam Whitmore to earn a spot in fantasy lineups.

Thu Feb 122:42Alperen Sengun Uncertain For Friday's Game
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (illness) is listed as questionable ahead of Friday's game against the Toronto Raptors. Sengun has not missed a game this season, so it's unlikely that an illness is going to hold him out of this contest. The Rockets would likely be forced to be small-ball if Sengun is unable to go. That means Jabari Smith Jr. is someone who would probably benefit greatly with Segun sidelined. He'd be a fairly decent streaming choice with additional playing time. Fantasy managers will have to check back closer to tip-off for another update on his status.

Mon Nov 20 202321:39Alperen Sengun Available On Monday
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (back) is available for Monday's game against the Golden State Warriors. This is good news after Sengun was considered a game-time decision heading into this game. Luckily, he has been cleared to play and it doesn't sound like he's going to be limited at all during this contest. He should resume his role in the starting five, while Jock Landale is the primary backup off the bench. Fantasy managers should feel safe putting Sengun back in their lineups for this game.

Mon Nov 20 202321:19Alperen Sengun Remains A Game-Time Decision
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (back) is considered a game-time decision heading into Monday's game against the Golden State Warriors. It sounds like the big man is going to test out his back pregame and see if he's still dealing with discomfort. The Rockets have already ruled out Tari Eason (rest) so they could be shorthanded for this game. That being said, Jabari Smith Jr. could be an interesting streaming option if Sengun is forced to sit out. Also, Jalen Green and Jock Landale would be asked to do more on offense. Fantasy managers will have to check back before tip-off for another update.

Thu Nov 9 202321:01Alperen Sengun Uncertain For Friday
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (ankle) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Sengun finds himself on the injury report due to a left ankle sprain. This doesn't sound like a long term issue, but Sengun could end up missing a game or two. Jock Landale would likely slide into the starting five if Sengun is unable to play. He'd probably see heavy minutes due to the fact the Rockets are thin at center. That being said, Landale could be an interesting streaming option if Sengun sits out.

Wed Sep 13 202309:18Rockets Happy With Alperen Sengun's Development
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun is on the right "path" with his development, according to general manager Rafael Stone, who recently watched him play for Turkey in a pre-Olympic pre-qualifying tournament. "Alpi is on the path we want him to be on. I thought he was moving really, really well," Stone said. "I thought his decision-making was good. I liked his defensive effort, overall. Sengun looked brilliant at times for the Rockets last season, and Stone expects him to develop further in 2023-24. "With all our young guys, not just Alpi, we are expecting and demanding constant improvement. I thought he looked really good. I was really happy with it. And he's been in the gym. He's in really good shape. And he's really excited to get going, too." The talented big man averaged 14.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists during his second NBA season, so he's already become somebody fantasy managers must keep an eye on.

Tue Aug 15 202322:17Alperen Sengun Puts Fingerprints All Over Tuesday’s Win
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun compiled 30 points (11 of 19 field goals, seven of nine free-throws), five rebounds, five steals, three blocks, and one three-pointer in 34 minutes during Tuesday's 85-72 win over Ukraine. The 21-year-old showcased the counting-stat upside that makes him such an intriguing fantasy prospect. But with that excitement, also comes possible headaches for fantasy managers of Sengun, who frustrated with his 17.4% turnover rate (worst among centers) last season. The former first-round pick's ability to defend without fouling remains in question, but Sengun could be in the top-50 conversation in 2023-24 if he takes a third-year leap.

Tue Aug 1 202307:32Biggest Moves of the 2023 NBA Offseason - Fred VanVleet, Jordan Poole, Kristaps Porzingis, Bradley Beal
It's a crazy time of year around the National Basketball Association. Not long after the Denver Nuggets captured the franchise's first championship, French big manVictor Wembanyama was the top pick of the 2023 Draft. While new talent entering the league is all well and good, nothing turns the NBA upside down quite like the beginning of free agency. Since June 30, many notable players have signed with new teams. There were also more than a few significant trades. In either case, at least a handful of clubs will look very different (for the better?) come training camp. Let's take a look at some of the biggest names on the move and how they might affect the NBA landscape this season.

Fred VanVleet - Houston Rockets

The Rockets entered the 2022-23 campaign as the second-youngest team in the National Basketball Association, and it showed. The club finished with 22 wins and 60 losses, with the Pistons being the only team with a worse record. As a result, the front office made a point to shake things up after the exhaustingly long year came to a close. The overhaul began when Stephen Silas, winning just 59 of his 236 games in Houston, was relieved of his head coaching duties. In his place, Ime Udoka, who helped guide the Celtics to an NBA Finals appearance in his first season, took the reigns. While Udoka's tenure in Boston didn't end on a positive note, he's still regarded as one of the sharpest minds in the league, even by those who lost respect for him on a personal level.https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1650612243661242369?s=20While having a knowledgeable head coach will help accelerate the growth of an up-and-coming squad, the Rockets needed someone to facilitate things on the floor. With Houston having plenty of cap space entering the offseason, the team signed ... [More]
Sat Apr 8 202308:11Alperen Sengun Pulls Down 21 Rebounds
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun dominated the glass in Friday's matchup against Charlotte, finishing a 122-109 victory with a career-high 21 rebounds. He added 14 points on 4-for-9 shooting for his fifth consecutive double-double. Sengun nailed his lone three-pointer in the game and finished things off with three assists, two steals and one block. The 20-year-old has again gained momentum in recent games and will head out final time Sunday versus Washington. Sengun has all the potential in the world to be a top fantasy asset, having averaged 17.3 points, 15.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.7 blocks and 2.3 steals this month.

Wed Mar 15 202318:25Alperen Sengun Expected To Play Against Lakers
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (groin) is expected to play Wednesday versus the Los Angeles Lakers. Sengun missed Monday's game with some groin soreness, but is warming up with the intent to play on Wednesday. If Sengun is cleared, he should retake the starting spot from Tari Eason. Eason still has fantasy value in a limited role especially with the Lakers without Anthony Davis (foot).

Tue Mar 14 202321:39Alperen Sengun Listed As Questionable Wednesday
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (groin) is questionable to play versus the Los Angeles Lakers. Sengun missed Monday's game with a groin strain and may miss another game due to the injury. Tari Eason got the spot start on Monday and finished with nine rebounds, six points, two assists and a block in 35 minutes. Eason will presumably start again if Sengun is held out for the second straight game.

Wed Feb 1 202309:41Alperen Sengun Off The Injury Report For Wednesday
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun missed the team's last contest due to a non-COVID illness but was able to practice over the last couple of days. He's now off of the injury report and should be good to go in Wednesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. There shouldn't be any significant value decreases to others on the team because Jalen Green (calf) and Kevin Porter Jr. (foot) remain sidelined so there are plenty of minutes to be distributed.

Mon Jan 30 202315:23Alperen Sengun Able To Practice On Monday
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (illness) was able to participate in Monday's practice. That is good news after the young center was forced to miss Saturday's game due to a non-COVID related illness. It sounds like the 20-year-old is doing better and hopefully he'll be able to play in Wednesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Lately, Tari Eason has been starting, but Jabari Smith Jr. has been benefiting as well with Sengun sidelined. Both players would take hits if Sengun returns to action on Wednesday.

Sat Jan 28 202318:43Alperen Sengun Won't Suit Up On Saturday
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun (illness) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Detroit Pistons. The young big man will sit this game out due to a non-COVID related illness. Jabari Smith Jr. will slide into the starting five with the Rockets shorthanded here. Bruno Fernando and Usman Garuba should see increased minutes as well with Sengun on the sideline. However, Smith and Tari Eason are going to be the best fantasy options out of the bunch for Saturday's slate.

Thu Jan 26 202312:10Alperen Sengun Posts Another Triple-Double In Loss
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun posted his second triple-double of the season and his career on Wednesday night during the 103-108 loss to the Washington Wizards. The second-year big man finished the game with 21 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, three steals, and two blocks while shooting 10-for-16 from the floor. During the month of January, he's averaging 18.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game.

Sun Jan 22 202308:51Alperen Sengun Has Another Impressive Outing
Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun continued to gain momentum with Saturday's outing against Minnesota, tallying 19 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, one steal and three blocks. He struggled at the foul line with a 4-for-10 effort but shot a very good 7-for-9 overall from the field and hit his lone attempts from behind the arc. Sengun has been elevated to a bigger role this month and he has responded by getting 18.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals. The big guy from Turkey has even started to take threes and has gone 4-for-5 from downtown across the last five games.
