PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers placed left-handed reliever Tony Cingrani on the disabled list Thursday with discomfort in his throwing shoulder.Cingrani left Wednesday night's 11-9 loss to Pittsburgh after making just six pitches in the eighth inning and complained to manager Dave Roberts afterward about pain in the shoulder. Cingrani is 1-2 with a 4.84 ERA in 27 appearances for the defending National League champions.The Dodgers called up reliever Pedro Baez to fill Cingrani's spot. Indians signed LHP Edward Paredes to a minor league contract.

He'll also get a spring training invite. Paredes didn't pitch professionally last season, but he's coming off a strong showing in the Dominican Winter League. The 26-year-old southpaw has a 4.66 ERA over six seasons in the minors and will serve as roster depth.

Mariners designated LHP Edward Paredes for assignment.

He was cleared in order to make room for Josh Bard on the 40-man roster. Paredes, 24, has an ugly 7.71 ERA and 25/20 K/BB ratio over 28 innings between Double-A Jackson and Triple-A Tacoma this season. The southpaw should pass through waivers with relative ease.
