Dodgers signed C Josh Bard to a minor league contract.
The two sides were reportedly close to a deal earlier this month. Bard, who turns 34 in March, batted just .210/.256/.333 over 81 at-bats for the Mariners this past season. Things could change during spring training, but A.J. Ellis and Matt Treanor are the favorites to share catching duties going into 2012.

Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers are close to a minor league deal with Josh Bard.
Now that makes more sense. Jon Heyman of SI.com reported the Dodgers signed Bard to a one-year, $750,000 contract, but it doesn't appear as though the deal is guaranteed. A.J. Ellis and Matt Treanor remain the favorites to make the Opening Day roster.

Mariners purchased the contract of C Josh Bard from Triple-A Tacoma.
Bard hasn't played recently due to a toe injury, but has convinced M's skipper Eric Wedge that he's ready to go. He'll provide some insurance behind the plate while Chris Gimenez is on the disabled list with an oblique injury and Miguel Olivo is sidelined with cramps in his right hamstring.

Mariners re-signed C Josh Bard to a minor league contract.
The contract includes an invite to major league spring training. Bard, who turns 33 in March, batted .214/.276/.357 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 126 plate appearances with the Mariners last season. He also threw out six of 18 would-be basestealers. With Miguel Olivo and Adam Moore already in place, he's unlikely to crack the Opening Day roster.
Sat Oct 9 201017:15Mariners' Bard suffers injuries in accident
Josh Bard suffered minor injuries in a fatal one-car accident Thursday in Colorado, KDVR.com reports.
Bard was the front-seat passenger in the crash, which killed family friend Pat McKendry. McKendry's son, who was driving the vehicle, and Bard were wearing their seat belts and suffered minor injuries in the rollover crash. Pat McKendry was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle in the accident. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor.

Josh Bard finished 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in the Mariners' 9-3 defeat of the Indians on Saturday in Cleveland.
An old fashioned battle of who could care less. Bard led his 46-71 Mariners over the 48-69 Tribe with a double, two singles and a monstrous grand slam. He's batting .256/.330/.449 as Seattle's second catcher and may have earned himself a few more looks. For now, Adam Moore remains the No. 1.

Josh Bard (neck) was available to play Saturday and could start Sunday.
He's been dealing with a minor neck problem. Adam Moore has started the last four games. "We'll probably look to give Adam a day off either (today) or the next day," manager Don Wakamatsu said.

Bard has been out of commission since May 28 due to a calf strain. He returns to a .273/.370/.545 batting line to go along with one home run and four RBI in 22 at-bats this season.

Josh Bard (calf) has begun a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma.
Bard was placed on the disabled list back on May 28 with a calf strain and may need a week of at-bats at Tacoma to get his timing right. Once he is ready, the M's will option Eliezer Alfonzo back to the minor leagues.

Mariners purchased the contract of C Josh Bard from Triple-A Tacoma.
The Raniers were close by when Mariners' catcher Adam Moore went down in Tampa Bay, so it was a quick flight for Bard, who was hitting .237/.294/.407 with two home runs and 14 RBI for Tacoma. He'll split time with Rob Johnson behind the plate until Moore's return.
