De Jesus Jr. was hitting well for Louisville (.303/.378/.384) before the move, though the low slugging percentage demonstrates that he's not much of a threat at the plate beyond a few singles. He has just 12 extra-base hits and two stolen bases, with no homers. He has spent the last five-plus seasons in Triple-A.

De Jesus has bounced around between four organizations over the past three seasons (Dodgers, Red Sox, Pirates and Orioles), and will now join the Reds for the 2015 campaign. The former second-round pick has shown an ability to hit for average (.300) and get on a base at a good clip (.360) at Triple-A, making him a serviceable organizational depth option, but he's unlikely to see significant run with the major league club next season.

De Jesus doesn't have much of a bat, but he is a fine defender, especially at second base. Odds are he'll get a start and Adam Kennedy will sit against the left-hander in the series finale.
