Athletics sent RHP Justin Souza outright to Triple-A Sacramento.

Souza, 25, turned in a 3.38 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 40 innings this past season at the Double-A level. He will have the option of testing the free agent waters but might be better off sticking with the A's. With a strong showing at spring training, he could be elevated to Triple-A at the start of 2011.
