Tue Mar 2610:44Marcell Ozuna Goes Deep Monday, Collects Three RBI
Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna hit his second home run of the spring on Monday in a 4-0 Grapefruit League win over the Twins. Ozuna had started off the spring hot but his bat had gone cold as of late, going 2-for-17 over his last six games. The 33-year-old is still hitting .306 in the spring, going 15-for-49 with two doubles, two home runs, four RBI (three of which came on Monday's HR), and four runs scored. He's got just two walks compared to 16 strikeouts which is a bit concerning, but as long as he keeps hitting home runs that can be tolerated. The Braves have their Grapefruit finale on Tuesday before opening the season Thursday against the Phillies in Philadelphia.

Sun Mar 323:38Marcell Ozuna Off To Blistering Start This Spring
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna is slashing .538/.600/..846 with a home run and three runs scored over six spring games. He bounced back in 2023 after a lackluster 2022. The 33-year-old blasted a career-high 40 home runs and collected 100 RBI over 592 plate appearances in 2023. Ozuna's production was backed up by career-highs in barrel rate (16.6%) and hard-hit rate (49%). He is projected to hit in the heart of the order in a loaded Braves lineup that includes Ronald Acuna Jr., Matt Olson, Ozzie Albies, and Austin Riley. Ozuna has always been a boom-or-bust player and only qualifies at utility in NFBC leagues. Despite the lack of position eligibility, Ozuna should pop 30-plus homers (ATC projects 30) and is a solid pick at his current NFBC ADP of 151.

Wed Aug 30 202300:14Marcell Ozuna Hits 30th Homer Of Season Tuesday
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna continued his power surge in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Rockies. Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a single, a solo home run, two RBI, a walk, and a strikeout. Despite a very rough start to the season, the 32-year-old has returned to being a fantasy asset and now owns a .267/.340/.529 slash line with 30 HR and 73 RBI. He should remain in fantasy managers' lineups at all times as long as he continues to hit for power.

Thu Jul 6 202309:12Marcell Ozuna Notches A Pair Of Hits Wednesday
Atlanta Braves outfielder/designated hitter Marcell Ozuna continued to stay hot at the plate during Wednesday's 8-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians, going 2-for-5 with two singles. The slugger has been on a tear since May, batting .309 with 15 bombs. Across 70 games overall this season, Ozuna owns a .257/.332/.494 slash line with 17 homers, 36 runs, and 40 RBI. It's safe to say the 32-year-old has bounced back after two lousy campaigns with the bat in 2021 and 2022. If not already, Ozuna needs to be rostered in every format.

Fri Jun 23 202312:26Marcell Ozuna Goes Deep In Extra-Inning Win
Atlanta Braves outfielder/designated hitter Marcell Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, a run scored and a walk in Thursday's 5-1, extra-inning win over the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies. The two-run long ball was Ozuna's 14th home run of the season, and he's now hitting .241 (49-for-203) with seven doubles, 32 RBI and 31 runs scored in 230 trips to the plate and 58 games. The streaky 32-year-old Dominican has come on strong in the month of June with a .321/.413/.547 slash line with three home runs, three doubles, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored for the Braves in 16 games played. Keep Ozuna in starting fantasy lineups while he's seeing the ball well.

Wed Jun 14 202317:02Marcell Ozuna Back In Lineup For Game 2 Of Doubleheader
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna (wrist) is returning to the lineup for the second game of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday. Ozuna is serving as the designated hitter and is batting fifth against Tigers right-hander Michael Lorenzen in the nightcap of the twin bill. The 32-year-old Ozuna miss the team's last two games with a bruised right wrist, but he's back in there in the second game on Wednesday. Fantasy managers will want to get him back into their lineups, as he has been scorching-hot so far in the month of June with a .414 average (12-for-29) with three doubles, two home runs, seven RBI and five runs scored in nine games.

Tue Jun 13 202316:00Marcell Ozuna Not In Tuesday's Lineup
Atlanta Braves outfielder/designated hitter Marcell Ozuna (wrist) is not in the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers. Ozuna won't play the day after leaving early on Monday when he was hit in the right wrist by a pitch. Thankfully, X-rays came back negative, so Ozuna is listed as day-to-day and could return as early as Wednesday. It remains to be seen if he'll be available off the bench on Tuesday, but the Braves probably want to give him at least one day off. Eddie Rosario is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth, while Kevin Pillar is in left field and hitting in the eight-hole against Tigers right-hander Reese Olson. Ozuna is in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak to begin the month of June, going 12-for-29 (.414) with three doubles, two homers and seven RBI, so hopefully he returns soon.

Mon Jun 12 202321:22Marcell Ozuna Has Right Wrist Contusion After Hit By Pitch
Updating a previous report, Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna (wrist) was hit by a pitch on Monday night and was removed from the game. The Braves later announced on Twitter that Ozuna has a right-wrist contusion and the move to pull him from the game was precautionary, as they are calling the outfielder day-to-day after his X-rays came back negative. Ozuna is likely to be back in the fray in the next day or two.

Mon Jun 12 202320:19Marcell Ozuna Leaves After Hit By Pitch Monday
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna (hand) was removed from Monday's game early against the Detroit Tigers after getting hit by a pitch on the hand/wrist. It didn't look great when Atlanta's medical staff was evaluating him, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day until we know more about his condition. Catcher Travis d'Arnaud replaced Ozuna as a pinch-hitter. The 32-year-old Dominican slugger came into Monday's series opener against Detroit hitting .242 (43-for-178) with 13 homers, 29 RBI and 25 runs scored in 50 games, and he went 1-for-1 with a double and a run scored in the contest before departing to boost his average to .246. The Braves could send Ozuna for tests on his injured hand/wrist, so we may not have a clearer picture on his injury until Tuesday.

Fri Jun 9 202312:41Marcell Ozuna Hits 12th Homer In Wild Win
Atlanta Braves outfielder/designated hitter Marcell Ozuna went 1-for-5 with his 12th home run of the season, an RBI, run scored and three strikeouts in the team's wild 13-10 walk-off victory over the division-rival New York Mets on Thursday night. Ozuna's long ball was one of five for the Braves in the extra-inning affair. The 32-year-old Dominican slugger got off to a pretty poor start in the first month-plus of the season, but he's seeing the ball better now and is hitting .310 (13-for-42) with three doubles, three home runs and seven RBI in his last 12 games. Overall, Ozuna is now slashing .234 with a .797 OPS, 12 home runs and 26 RBI in 47 games played. He's not going to help much with batting average, but Ozuna still deserves to be rostered for his pop.

Wed May 10 202318:44Marcell Ozuna Out Wednesday Despite Hot Streak
Atlanta Braves outfielder/designated hitter Marcell Ozuna is riding the pine for Wednesday's matchup with the Red Sox. The 32-year-old is also riding a noteworthy 8-for-27 stretch since May 2 with four homers and eight RBI, so it's not exactly an opportune time for fantasy managers who roster Ozuna to see him hit the bench. Travis d'Arnaud, who is back Wednesday after a multi-week absence with a concussion, replaces Ozuna in the lineup. d'Arnaud is likely to eat into Ozuna's playing time going forward with catcher Sean Murphy playing at such a high level right now.

Sat Apr 22 202315:51Marcell Ozuna Remains In The Lineup
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna has been off to a cold start to begin the season. Through 13 games, Ozuna is hitting .083 with two home runs and two RBI. The 32-year-old remains under contract through the 2024 season. That being said, the Braves will continue to run him out there and hope he turns things around at the plate. He'll serve as the designated hitter and bat eighth versus left-hander Framber Valdez on Saturday. Fantasy managers can look elsewhere for help on Saturday as Ozuna is likely to continue struggling against a tough pitcher here.

Tue Apr 11 202314:25Marcell Ozuna Back Down To Eighth In Batting Order
Atlanta Braves outfielder/designated hitter Marcell Ozuna is back down to the eighth spot in the club's batting order Tuesday as he takes on the Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Luis Cessa. This marks Ozuna's third start of the season hitting out of the eight-hole while he hasn't hit above sixth to this point in what marks his ninth start of the campaign Tuesday. It's not a total surprise as Ozuna has struggled out of the gate, going just 2-for-28 (.071), albeit with both hits coming as home runs. Despite a strong 15.2% BB% he's also struck out in 30.3% of his plate appearances and is without a multi-hit effort in nine appearances on the season.

Thu Apr 6 202318:14Marcell Ozuna Out Of Lineup Again
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna will sit against the San Diego Padres and Blake Snell on Thursday. Ozuna is sitting for the second time in three days. He is 1-for-17 to start the season, the one hit being a home run. He has also struck out six times. Ozuna has plenty of power but his role on the team doesn't seem to be set in stone right now and his average will be a drag to fantasy teams. Kevin Pillar is in left field and Travis d'Arnaud is the DH, the two positions Ozuna has been playing for the Braves.

Tue Mar 7 202313:33Marcell Ozuna The Favorite For DH Job
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna remains the favorite for primary designated hitter duties for the team in 2023. Ozuna is playing often in the Grapefruit League in spring training and is strictly being used as a DH, despite saying before arriving to camp that his throwing arm was stronger after rehab work in the winter. The Braves prefer not to use him in left field, and they are hoping he can bounce back offensively after leading the National League in home runs and RBI in the shortened 2020 campaign. In the last two seasons, though, he has hit a combined .222 with 30 home runs and a .675 OPS in 172 games. The 32-year-old still has decent power, but everything else could be volatile for fantasy managers.

Sun Aug 21 202211:30Marcell Ozuna Returns To The Lineup
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna is back in left field and is hitting eighth on Sunday against right-hander Jose Urquidy and the Houston Astros. Ozuna was recently arrested for driving under the influence on Friday morning and was held out of the team's lineup the last two games, but he'll return for the series finale against Houston. The 31-year-old Dominican is hitting just .214 in 415 at-bats for Atlanta this year with a .263 on-base percentage, but he does have 20 home runs, 46 RBI, 50 runs scored and two stolen bases in 107 games played. DFS managers should consider Ozuna an all-or-nothing commodity at the bottom of Atlanta's lineup.

Fri Aug 19 202211:21Marcell Ozuna Arrested On Friday
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna was arrested early Friday morning for driving under the influence. The police arrested Ozuna for DUI and failure to maintain lane before booking him into the Gwinnett County Jail. The 31-year-old was also arrested last year for domestic violence and served a suspension. When active on the field, Ozuna has struggled with the bat for a majority of this season. He's slashing .214/.263/.393 with 20 home runs and 46 RBI in 106 games. There's not much reason to roster Ozuna outside of his power, but he's certainly a risky option now. Fantasy managers should get more details on this situation soon.

Thu Jul 7 202212:53Marcell Ozuna Homers, Continues Heating Up
Atlanta Braves outfielder/designated hitter Marcell Ozuna added another home run Wednesday night, his 17th of the season. Ozuna has now homered three times in his last four games and has a modest five-game hitting streak going. Ozuna's disappointing .708 OPS surely has fantasy managers in fits, but he does have a chance to eclipse his career-high of 37 home runs, which he hit back in 2017 with the Marlins. He represents a power-only producer on a strong offense, with 41 runs scored, 35 RBI, and two steals in 306 at-bats.

Fri May 27 202218:16Marcell Ozuna Returns To Lineup Friday
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna (abdomen) is batting third and playing left field against Marlins lefty Trevor Rogers on Friday night. Ozuna missed Thursday's game against the Phillies with lower abdominal tightness, but he is ready to go Friday. He hasn't lived up to expectations so far this season, with just a .669 OPS. That being said, he has been hot at the dish recently, posting a .300 AVG with four home runs over a 12-game hit streak. Get him back in your lineups in daily leagues.

Thu May 26 202219:04Marcell Ozuna Scratched As A Precaution
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna (abdomen) was scratched from the lineup on Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies with lower abdominal tightness. He will be available off the bench. Fantasy managers should consider Ozuna day-to-day for now, with a good chance of him returning to the lineup on Friday. The 31-year-old slugger is hitting .231/.270/.399 on the season with eight home runs, 20 RBI, 17 runs scored and two stolen bases in 185 plate appearances over 44 games played. In Ozuna's absence on Thursday, Orlando Arcia will start in left field and bat eighth in the batting order against Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola. Arcia has very little fantasy upside, but he does have 14 hits in 41 at-bats (.341 average) in 14 games this season.
