Tue Jul 7 201523:54Teaford designated for assignment Tuesday
Teaford was designated for assignment Tuesday, the Tampa Tribune's Roger Mooney reports.
He pitched in both games of Tuesday's doubleheader, so the Rays obviously wanted to get as many pitches out of Teaford as they could before potentially losing him. The 31-year-old lefty has a career 4.16 ERA and is unlikely to be used in high leverage situations, no matter which team he pitches for next.

Allan Dykstra was designated for assignment to create room for Teaford on the 40-man roster. Teaford allowed seven earned runs on 18 hits, with 12 strikeouts and four walks, in three starts (15 innings) with Durham to begin the year. He is not currently scheduled for a start with the big club, so it seems likely the lefty will be available in long relief.

Teaford is being considered for a temporary spot in the Rays' rotation, the Tampa Tribune reports.
He may be the greatest long shot for the opportunity, as the alternatives all possess 40-man roster spots, while Teaford is in camp with the Rays on a minor league deal. Most likely, Burch Smith, Matt Andriese, and Enny Romero will cover two of the vacant spots created by the ailments to Drew Smyly, Alex Cobb, and Alex Colome to open the year.

Wed Jun 27 201217:49Everett Teaford solid in return to majors
Everett Teaford delivered a solid start Wednesday, allowing two runs in five innings against the Rays.
Teaford, who had a 5.73 ERA in one start and two relief appearances back in April, was called up from Triple-A before the game. His next two starts figure to come in Toronto and Detroit, so he's an especially poor bet in AL-only leagues right now.
