LHP Scott Diamond had his contract selected from Buffalo Monday and LHP/RHP Pat Venditte was returned to the Triple-A club on option. LHP Franklin Morales (shoulder) was moved to the 60-day disabled list to create a spot on the 40-man roster for Diamond, who was 4-6 with a 3.16 in 12 starts at Buffalo. Manager John Gibbons said that Diamond will be used in long and middle relief in Toronto and he pitched the top of the ninth Monday in the 7-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, allowing two hits, two walks and three runs. He is the 25th Canadian-born player to play for the Blue Jays.

Diamond signed a minor league contract with the Rays on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Diamond spent all of 2014 in Triple-A, but didn't have promising results. He finished his stints with over a 6.50 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in each. He'll likely serve a depth role with the Rays in 2015.

Wed Mar 26 201415:06Report: Twins place Diamond on waivers
Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the Twins have placed left-hander Scott Diamond on waivers.
Diamond, who is out of options, lost out to Kyle Gibson for the final spot in Minnesota's rotation. The 27-year-old has enjoyed some success in the past, but he's coming off an awful 5.43 ERA and 52/36 K/BB ratio over 131 innings last season.

Tue Mar 11 201416:10Scott Diamond surrenders two runs to Rays
Scott Diamond yielded two runs and four hits in two innings of relief Tuesday against the Rays.
Diamond is one of the Twins pitchers out of options and battling for a roster spot, whether it's the lone rotation opening or a place in middle relief. He seems like a long shot to make the club, but as much as he struggled last season, he might clear waivers anyway.

Tue Sep 24 201323:58Diamond serves up three home runs vs. Tigers
Scott Diamond allowed four runs on nine hits, including three home runs, over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers on Tuesday.
Diamond was victimized by Tigers hitters for three home runs and all four runs in the fourth inning, as Victor Martinez, Omar Infante and Austin Jackson took him deep. The lefty walked just one while striking out three. The loss dropped him to 6-12 with a 5.54 ERA this season, and he's in line for another rough afternoon in the Twins' season finale against the Indians on Sunday.

Wed Sep 18 201317:19Scott Diamond earns win over White Sox
Despite not recording a strikeout, Scott Diamond picked up a win Wednesday after allowing three runs in 6 1/3 innings versus the White Sox.
Diamond, who spent most of August in the minors, has struck out a total of five batters in his last six major league starts dating back to July 7. He did OK today, but there's a reason he's 6-11 with a 5.54 ERA on the season. He doesn't necessarily need a big strikeout rate to survive, but he has to do better than this.

Thu Sep 12 201316:14Diamond struggles in loss to Athletics
Scott Diamond was chased after giving up five runs (four earned) over 4 2/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Athletics.
Diamond gave up six hits and two walks while striking out just one batter. The Twins were optimistic that Diamond regained his confidence while he was down in the minors, but it wasn't apparent Thursday. He's expected to finish the season in the rotation, but shouldn't be an option in most fantasy leagues.

Wed Sep 11 201309:19Twins believe Diamond has regained confidence
The Twins believe Scott Diamond regained his confidence during his time with Triple-A roster.
"Confidence was the big thing when we sent him down, and he's definitely confident right now," Twins manager Gardenhire said. This is a convenient narrative, but anybody who watched Diamond earlier this season could see he'd tense up and get frustrated if an inning started to go south. Crooked numbers littered scoreboards and Diamond was demoted with a 5-10 record and a 5.52 ERA in 20 starts. "I had started overcomplicating things, putting a lot of pressure on myself," Diamond said. "Just trying to make that perfect pitch every time." Diamond, who went on to post a 2.40 ERA at Triple-A Rochester, is a classic Twins finesse lefty who excelled as a rookie in 2011 using a smoke-and-mirrors approach. He's a long-term back-of-the-rotation starter. The Twins have moved to a six-man rotation to accommodate him and Diamond will start on Thursday against the A's.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire announced that the team will finish the season with a six-man rotation.
Scott Diamond is scheduled to rejoin the rotation, while Cole De Vries is bullpen bound. Diamond, recalled from the minors on Sunday night, was dreadful earlier this season in Minnesota's rotation. He went 5-10 with a 5.52 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 45/31 K/BB ratio over 107 2/3 innings.

The 27-year-old southpaw struggled through 20 starts with the Twins before his demotion in August, posting a 5-10 record, 5.52 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 45/31 K/BB ratio over 107 2/3 innings. It's unclear if he'll be utilized as a starter or a long man in the bullpen the remainder of the season.

Thu Aug 1 201316:44Twins option LHP Diamond to Triple-A
Twins optioned LHP Scott Diamond to Triple-A Rochester.
It's about time. Diamond was likely given some extra leash after what he did last season, but he has been a complete mess since offseason elbow surgery, posting a 5.52 ERA over 19 starts this year. The southpaw will attempt to get back on track in the minors.

Thu Aug 1 201316:14Diamond knocked around in loss to Royals
Scott Diamond was tagged for seven runs (six earned) over five innings in a loss to the Royals on Thursday.
Ugly. Diamond gave up nine hits and three walks (one intentional) while striking out only one batter. This is the fifth time he has allowed six earned runs in a start this season, increasing his ERA to an obscene 5.52. He shouldn't be anywhere near your fantasy roster.

Sun Jul 21 201317:47Diamond slapped around by Indians in loss
Scott Diamond allowed six runs -- five earned -- on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings Sunday as the Twins fell to the Indians.
He struck out none and walked three. Diamond may have frustrated Minnesota for the last time in awhile this afternoon, as former Twins manager Tom Kelly openly questioned Diamond's status in the starting rotation on the telecast. The minors or the bullpen may be next for the Canadian, who fell to 5-9 with a 5.53 ERA.

Sat Jul 13 201300:04Diamond leaves early after rain delay
Scott Diamond tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings Friday against the Yankees before leaving after a rain delay.
Diamond gave up just one hit, but walked three batters and threw just 37 out of 65 pitches for strikes. Ryan Pressly replaced him when play resumed, but he probably wasn't going to last much longer in this one even if there wasn't a rain delay. After posting a 3.54 ERA through 27 starts last season, Diamond will head into the All-Star break with a 5.32 ERA and 1.52 WHIP through 17 starts this year.
