LHP Scott Diamond was designated for assignment after the 11-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. His contract was selected from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday and he appeared in one inning that night in the 7-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, allowing two hits, two walks and three runs. A corresponding move will be made Wednesday.

He's a long-term back-of-the-rotation starter. The Twins have moved to a six-man rotation to accommodate him and Diamond will start on Thursday against the A's.
