Orioles signed RHP Fabio Castillo to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Castillo, 24, posted a 5.34 ERA and 95/43 K/BB ratio in 89 1/3 innings as a starter and reliever between the Giants' Double- and Triple-A affiliates this past season. He'll serve as organizational depth in 2014.

Giants signed RHP Fabio Castillo to a minor league contract.
Castillo registered a 3.54 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 41/26 K/BB ratio across 56 innings of relief this past season between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock -- minor league affiliates of the Rangers. The 23-year-old Dominican right-hander projects as a middle reliever.

Castillo was non-tendered earlier this week, but is back in the organization to continue functioning as depth. He had a 6.36 ERA this year in 52 1/3 Double-A innings.

Castillo wasn't even arbitration-eligible this offseason, but the move makes him a free agent. The 22-year-old right-hander posted an awful 6.36 ERA and 37/23 K/BB ratio over 52 1/3 innings this past season with Double-A Frisco.

Rangers prospect Fabio Castillo has begun trying to walk without the protective boot on his left foot.
Castillo is still recovering from a broken bone and probably won't step atop a mound for another several weeks. The 22-year-old righty finished with strong numbers between stays at Single-A and Double-A last season. He has some promise and may climb to Triple-A by the end of 2011 if all goes well this year.

Rangers prospect right-hander Fabio Castillo is currently slowed due to a broken bone in his left foot.
Castillo is currently getting around camp in a walking boot. The Rangers added the young right-hander to their 40-man roster after he posted a 2.11 ERA and 67/30 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 innings between High-A Bakersfield and Double-A Frisco last season. He was recently ranked as the organization's No. 23 prospect by Baseball America.
