RHP Mike Broadway was designated for assignment on Monday so that the Giants could return RHP Sergio Romo to the 40-man roster following his activation from the 60-day disabled list. Broadway made 21 appearances for the Giants last season but just four this year before getting demoted to Triple-A Sacramento with an 11.81 ERA.

RHP Mike Broadway was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday prior to the Giants' 6-5 loss to the Mets. Broadway threw three innings of relief in the Giants' 13-1 loss to the Mets on Friday -- the start of 17 games in as many days for the Giants -- and was a victim of the team's need for a fresh bullpen arm. Broadway allowed six runs on Friday and posted an 11.81 ERA in four appearances since being recalled from Sacramento on Apr. 19.

RHP Mike Broadway was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday to replace RHP Chris Heston as the Giants' long reliever. He took over for RHP Matt Cain with two runners on base in the fifth inning and got out of further trouble after the Diamondbacks had already scored three runs. He wound up pitching one scoreless inning, allowing two hits. He recorded two strikeouts.

Broadway was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.

He was almost certainly in line for a September callup, having posting a minuscule 0.93 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 64:8 K:BB in 40 appearances with Sacramento, but the right-hander got the call a bit sooner than expected with Jeremy Affeldt (knee) landing on the DL. Broadway figures to start in the middle innings but could eventually work into some higher-leverage spots.

Broadway has been optioned to Triple-A, Andrew Baggarly reports.

The move was part of a string of roster adjustments made by the Giants prior to Friday's contest against Washington. Broadway has allowed three earned runs on seven hits over 7.1 innings for the Giants this season.

Broadway was recalled from Triple-A on Friday.

While Broadway is a righty, he was recalled to take the place of veteran lefty Jeremy Affeldt, who was placed on the DL Friday. Broadway has a 1.30 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 27.2 innings at Triple-A this season, so it is likely that he will be able to miss bats at a high level with the Giants.

Broadway was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Chris Haft of MLB.com reports.

Broadway was called up on June 12 and made four appearance for the Giants, allowing just one earned run on three hits across 4.2 innings. He'll return to Triple-A, where he holds a 1.35 ERA with five saves in 22 appearances.

Broadway will come up from Triple-A after posting a 1.35 ERA and allowing four earned runs across 26.2 innings. The 28-year-old will provide depth in the bullpen, and the Giants are yet to announce a corresponding move.
