You get here, but then you got to work twice as hard to stay here and put together a career. It's very difficult to do. Benny will land on his feet, because he's good at persevering. He's already shown that. So he'll get an opportunity to do that again."

1B Ben Paulsen went 0-for-4 with one run and two strikeouts Sunday. Since returning from Triple-A Albuquerque on Aug. 12, Paulsen is 2-for-22 (.091) in seven games with eight strikeouts, no walks, no extra-base hits and no RBI. In 36 games this season overall with the Rockies, Paulsen is hitting .216 (19-for-88) with five doubles, one homer, 11 RBIs, four walks and 26 strikeouts.

1B Ben Paulsen was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday and went 0-for-3 against Philadelphia. Paulsen, who began the season on the major league roster, hit .276 with six homers and 38 RBIs in 72 games at Triple A.

1B/OF Ben Paulsen was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque to make room on the active roster for INF Daniel Descalso, who was reinstated from the disabled list. The Rockies demoted Paulsen rather than INF Cristhian Adames, because the latter was out of minor league options and likely would not have cleared waivers. Adames is a utility infielder like Descalso, but the Rockies did not want to risk losing him had they designated him for assignment to take him off the active roster. Paulsen, 28, made his first Opening Day roster this year. In 29 games for the Rockies, Paulsen has hit .258 (17-for-66) with five doubles, one homer, 10 RBIs, six runs scored and 18 strikeouts.

PH Ben Paulsen singled in the ninth, grounding a ball through the vacated third base area as the Diamondbacks had shifted on Paulsen to pull. That hit broke a 0-for-15 hitless streak for Paulsen. He is 2-for-7 this season as a pinch-hitter.

Paulsen went 1-for-2 with an RBI and his first stolen base of the season in Thursday's loss to the Pirates.

For the seventh straight game, Paulsen was relegated to a bench role, as the recent activations of Justin Morneau (concussion/neck) and Corey Dickerson (ribs) have pushed him out of the regular lineup at first base and left field, respectively. Paulsen remains one of the Rockies' top bench options, but the lack of consistent playing time probably makes it worthwhile for fantasy owners to drop him or at least bench him heading into the final week of the regular season.

Paulsen is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.

Dramatic platoon splits will keep Paulsen on the bench Saturday against left-hander Roenis Elias. Paulsen is batting .214/.258/.250 against southpaws this season, compared to .281/.329/.482 against right-handed pitching. His playing time may be sporadic over the final weeks with Justin Morneau back on the active roster.

Paulsen's at-bats could be on the decline in the final few weeks of the season with Justin Morneau (neck/concussion) and Corey Dickerson (ribs) recently activated from the DL.

Since Morneau's activation from the DL last Friday, Paulsen hasn't seen a start at first base in any of the Rockies' five games during that span, instead picking up three starts in left field. However, with Dickerson activated Tuesday and now poised to reclaim the everyday role in left field as soon as Wednesday, Paulsen seems to have fallen into a reserve role. He should see liberal usage off the bench given his solid .279/.327/.470 line at the plate this season, but with the promise of at-bats no longer guaranteed on a daily basis, his fantasy appeal takes a significant hit.

Paulsen is out of the lineup again Monday against the Padres, Jenny Cavnar of Root Sports reports.

Following the return of Justin Morneau, it's quite possible he won't be a member of the everyday lineup moving forward. He'll likely still see some starts, but Morneau should see some as well. That's the case Monday, as Morneau will start at first base, bating fourth for the Rockies.

Paulsen isn't in the starting lineup Sunday against the Giants.

Paulsen will take a seat Sunday as the Rockies face a tough lefty in Madison Bumgarner. As a result, the club will start Wilin Rosario at first base in his place, batting fifth.

Paulsen is out of the lineup Monday against the Rockies, Dargan Southard of MLB.com reports.

Paulsen sits against most southpaws, and that's the case again Monday with the left-handed Robbie Ray on the mound for the Diamondbacks. Matt McBride will replace him at first base, batting seventh for the Rockies.

Paulsen hit a single and triple and drove in two runs in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Pirates.

Justin Morneau (neck/concussion) recently began a rehab assignment at Double-A New Britain and is scheduled to return from the 60-day DL in the near future, but Paulsen has made a compelling case for continued regular at-bats, whether those come at first base or in left field. He's sitting on a .331 on-base percentage and has collected 31 extra-base hits on the season, all while not displaying the overly dramatic home/road splits typical of most Rockies hitters.

Paulsen is not in Friday's lineup against the Pirates, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Paulsen won't play Friday due to the left-handed Francisco Liriano toeing the rubber for the Pirates. He'll cede the start to Matt McBride, but should continue to see most of the time at first base.

Paulsen is out of the lineup Saturday.

His batting average has dropped from .294 to .279 over the past nine games, and despite hitting a homer (his ninth of the season) in Friday's game, he will sit in favor of Matt McBride.

Paulsen is out of the lineup Thursday against the Mets.

Paulsen hasn't sat against a right-hander since July 3, but will do so Thursday against Noah Syndergaard and the Mets. It likely isn't performance-related, as his .914 OPS in August is the highest of any month since May. Nonetheless, Matt McBride will take over at first base for the afternoon contest.
