Fri Mar 2210:05Charlie Blackmon Having A Nice Spring
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer against the Chicago Cubs in Thursday's Cactus League matchup. The veteran is entering his 14th season, all with Colorado and has looked good this spring with a .333 batting, two homers and six RBI in 39 at-bats. At age 37, Blackmon may have to succumb some playing time to younger players on a rebuilding Rockies team, but he can still be useful during long stretches at Coors Field. Even with a nice spring, there should be players with bigger upsides towards the end of deep league drafts.

Sat Sep 30 202301:27Charlie Blackmon Signs One-Year Contract Extension With Rockies
Colorado Rockies outfielder/designated hitter Charlie Blackmon has signed a one-year, $13 million contract extension with the team. The 37-year-old, who has spent his entire 13-year career with Colorado, was going to hit free agency this offseason but he'll stay on for another year with the Rockies. The veteran outfielder has put together an excellent season in Colorado, albeit one that has been limited by injuries. He's slashing .285/.370/.450 with eight home runs, 40 RBI, and four stolen bases over 351 at-bats in 92 games.

Tue Sep 26 202312:37Charlie Blackmon Out For Game 1 Of Doubleheader
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon is on the bench for Game 1 of a doubleheader on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers with left-handed opener Caleb Ferguson on the mound. With Blackmon out, Kris Bryant is serving as the designated hitter and batting third, while Sean Bouchard is in right field and in the seven-hole against Ferguson. The veteran Blackmon has hit a strong .276 (92-for-333) on the year for the Rockies, but with just seven home runs, 38 RBI, two stolen bases and 53 runs scored. The 37-year-old left-handed hitter also has no home runs against southpaws in 2023 while hitting .277 (23-for-83) against them. The four-time All-Star's bat has cooled off considerably in the final month of the regular season as well.

Sat Sep 16 202313:18Charlie Blackmon Taking A Seat In Game 1 Of Doubleheader Vs. The Giants
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants. The 37-year-old will take a seat in the opening game while Elehuris Montero serves as the Rockies' DH against San Francisco opener Keaton Winn. Blackmon has quietly been highly productive this season for both the Rockies and fantasy managers, slashing .279/.369/.433 with seven home runs, 36 RBI, and one stolen base over 355 plate appearances. He's only played in 82 games, however, as injuries have taken their toll on the veteran. Blackmon should return as the DH in Game 2 of Saturday's twin bill.

Wed Sep 6 202314:23Charlie Blackmon Taking A Seat Wednesday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon is not in the club's starting lineup Wednesday afternoon against the Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Zach Davies. The longtime Rockie hit leadoff on Tuesday night while going 0-for-3 with a walk, a run, and an RBI on the evening, the latter of which provided the eventual game-winning run in a tight 3-2 victory. While Blackmon doesn't possess the same elite power/speed combination that he used to, he's had a nice season that's seen him hit .284 with seven homers, one steal, a 10.3% BB%, and an .819 OPS across 330 trips to the plate. Furthermore, he sports a tiny 12.4% K% which is easily a career-high and well below his 16.7% career figure.

Sat Aug 26 202310:38Charlie Blackmon Could Return To The Rockies Next Season
Colorado Rockies outfielder/designated hitter Charlie Blackmon could potentially return to the team next season, according to beat writer Patrick Saunders. Saunders wrote in an article that the team is "very interested" in a new deal for the 37-year-old veteran. Blackmon has put together a decent season when he's been on the field this year. He's slashing .285/.372/.463 with seven home runs and 31 RBI over 246 at-bats but missed two months of action with a right-hand fracture. He's spent his entire 13-year career with the Rockies so the organization likely appreciates his veteran presence and leadership if they are interested in bringing him back.

Wed Aug 16 202312:37Charlie Blackmon Retreats To The Bench
Colorado Rockies outfielders Charlie Blackmon and Michael Toglia are not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. Blackmon recently returned from a fractured hand and served as the designated hitter in his first two games back before getting a rest in the matinee contest on Wednesday. Ryan McMahon is serving as the designated hitter and is batting third, while Alan Trejo draws into the lineup at third base while hitting seventh against Diamondbacks right-hander Slade Cecconi. The 37-year-old Blackmon went 3-for-7 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored in his first two games back from the injured list this week. Blackmon has a decent .271 average (59-for-218) in 2023, but he's done very little else for fantasy managers.

Mon Aug 14 202319:53Charlie Blackmon Activated And Starting Monday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hand) was activated from the 10-day injured list on Monday and he's immediately in the starting lineup, serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff against Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly. Blackmon is returning after a two-month stint on the injured list due to a fractured right hand, but he'll return and play regularly for the Rockies, at least when the team is facing a right-handed arm. The 37-year-old veteran is no longer at his peak and has offered fantasy managers very little in the counting-stat department. His .347 on-base percentage is nice, but he's hitting .265 (56-for-211) with only five home runs, no steals, 26 RBI and 34 runs scored in 56 games in his 13th year in Colorado.

Fri Aug 11 202301:09Charlie Blackmon Set To Begin Rehab Assignment
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hand) is ready to begin a rehab assignment as early as Friday, according to manager Bud Black. Blackmon has been out with a right-hand fracture since June 11, and after a slight setback last week he has been cleared to head to the minors. He will fly to Triple-A Albuquerque Friday and will play a couple of games before the team reassess' his status. The veteran lefty has been decent this year, posting a .265/.347/.422 slash line, but offers little power or speed with just five homers and no steals in 211 at-bats. He shouldn't be rostered outside of very deep leagues.

Wed Aug 9 202322:28Charlie Blackmon Resumes Full Baseball Activities
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hand) resumed full baseball activities on Monday and did so again on Tuesday after suffering a slight setback last week with his fractured right hand. Manager Bud Black said that he, Blackmon and the athletic training staff will meet to discuss the next step. Blackmon was close to starting a minor-league rehab assignment last week, so hopefully he'll finally be cleared for that as he attempts to return to the major-league roster. The 37-year-old veteran has been on the injured list since June 11, so he could have a fairly lengthy rehab assignment. Blackmon hadn't done much for fantasy managers before his injury, as he was hitting .265/.347/.422 with only five home runs, 26 RBI and 34 runs scored for the Rockies in 211 at-bats.

Tue Aug 1 202320:31Charlie Blackmon Not Ready To Go On Rehab Assignment
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hand) took part in pre-game activities on Monday and didn't feel that his right hand, which he fractured in June, was ready for game action in the minor leagues just yet on a rehab assignment. Blackmon was originally scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque this week, but those plans have temporarily been pushed back. It means that the 37-year-old veteran outfielder will have his return to the big leagues pushed back also, and there's no specific timetable for his return. When he does make it back to the Rockies lineup, he'll return to a .265/.347/.422 slash line with only five home runs, 26 RBI and 34 runs scored in 211 at-bats. Blackmon has been reaching base often, but outside of that he hasn't provided much for fantasy managers.

Mon Jul 31 202312:37Charlie Blackmon To Start Rehab Assignment Tuesday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hand) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. Blackmon will play on Tuesday and Wednesday as he attempts to rejoin the major-league roster after landing on the injured list on July 11 with a fractured right hand. The 37-year-old is no longer in his prime, but he still plays at Coors Field and hits near the top of the batting order, which makes him worth rostering in deep-mixed leagues when he's healthy. The four-time All-Star will be returning to a .265/.347/.422 slash line, and he's also produced five home runs, 14 doubles, two triples, 26 RBI and 34 runs scored in 242 trips to the plate over 56 games played.

Sat Jul 29 202318:42Charlie Blackmon Takes Batting Practice On Saturday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hand) was able to take batting practice prior to Saturday's contest. It's the first time that Blackmon has swung a bat since fracturing his right hand in early June. He'll still need to build up his activities some more before he's ready for a minor league rehab assignment. It sounds like he's still a few weeks away, but he should be able to return at some point in August.

Mon Jun 19 202312:18Charlie Blackmon Thinks He Can Return Sooner Than Expected
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hand) landed on the 10-day injured list on June 11 after playing a week with a right-hand fracture, but he has felt better after treatment while using a bone stimulator. Blackmon has told manager Bud Black that he thinks he can return quicker than expected. Barring any setbacks once Blackmon resumes baseball activities, he could return to the team by the middle of July. The 36-year-old left-handed hitter has hit .265 (56-for-211) so far this year with 14 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 26 RBI and 34 runs scored in 242 plate appearances and 56 games. Blackmon doesn't really run anymore, but he'll return to a regular role for the Rockies at some point next month.

Sun Jun 11 202313:14Charlie Blackmon Lands On The 10-Day Injured List
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hand) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right-hand fracture. It's unclear how long the veteran outfielder will be out at this time but the team should provide an update at the end of their game against the Padres on Sunday. The Rockies made a flurry of moves on Sunday but Blackmon hitting the injured list was the headliner. Additionally, they selected the contract of infielder Coco Montes, optioned infielder Alan Trejo to Triple-A Albuquerque, recalled catcher Brian Serven from Triple-A, and transferred starting pitcher Antonio Senzatela to the 60-day injured list. From a fantasy perspective, Montes has an intriguing blend of power and speed but he can be left on the waiver wire outside the very deepest of NL-only leagues.

Thu Jun 1 202313:26Kris Bryant Goes On Injured List, Charlie Blackmon Returns
The Colorado Rockies announced on Thursday that they placed outfielder Kris Bryant (heel) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to May 31) with a left-heel bruise and reinstated outfielder Charlie Blackmon from the bereavement list in a corresponding move. This is bad news for Bryant's fantasy managers, as the 31-year-old veteran played in only 42 games in 2022 due mostly to a battle with plantar fasciitis. Before landing on the IL this year, Bryant has been pretty mediocre with a .263 average (50-for-190) with five home runs and 17 RBI, but he does have a solid .346 on-base percentage in 50 games played. With Blackmon back, Jurickson Profar, Nolan Jones and Randal Grichuk will battle for playing time in the third outfield spot and at designated hitter with Bryant on the shelf.

Mon May 29 202314:04Charlie Blackmon Placed On Bereavement List
The Colorado Rockies placed outfielder Charlie Blackmon on the bereavement list on Monday and recalled first baseman/designated hitter Elehuris Montero from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Blackmon could miss anywhere from three to seven days while on the bereavement list, so fantasy managers will had to adjust for this week. The 36-year-old veteran left-handed hitter has been very solid for his fantasy managers so far in 2023, as he's hitting .287 (51-for-178) with 13 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 23 RBI and 30 runs scored in 48 games played. Kris Bryant is serving as the designated hitter on Monday and is batting second, while outfielder Jurickson Profar serves in the leadoff spot against D-Backs right-hander Ryne Nelson.

Sun May 28 202323:30Charlie Blackmon Extends Hit Streak To Nine Games
Colorado Rockies outfielder/designated hitter Charlie Blackmon went 2-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBI in a high-scoring 11-10 victory over the New York Mets on Sunday. The 36-year-old is putting together a resurgent campaign from 2022, now slashing .287/.369/.466 with 30 runs scored, five long balls, and 23 RBI in 2023. Not only has the hitting machine hit safely in all but three of his 21 games in May, but Blackmon's hot bat has also connected for a .339 average, nine extra-base hits, and 11 RBI over his last 16 games. The two-time Silver Slugger is a superior fantasy play when at home than on the road, but the Rocks will only play six of their next 23 games at Coors Field.

Thu Apr 6 202314:14Charlie Blackmon Returns To Lineup Thursday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon is set to return to the lineup after sitting out of Tuesday's contest versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Blackmon made a pinch-hitting appearance Tuesday but also got Wednesday off as the Rockies were idle. It's been a hot start to the season for the veteran as Blackmon is 7-for-21 (.333) with a homer and a pair of hit-by-pitches across 23 trips to the plate. The 36-year-old has largely managed to stay healthy in recent seasons but is coming off a down season in which he hit .264 with 16 home runs, four steals, and a .733 OPS across 135 games in 2022. He and the Rockies take on the Washington Nationals and young right-hander Josiah Gray in their first home game of the season Thursday afternoon.

Tue Apr 4 202321:50Charlie Blackmon Absent From Tuesday's Batting Order
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, as per MLB.com. The veteran has been on a tear to begin 2023, hitting .350 with a homer, four runs, and three RBI across five contests. Alan Trejo will take his spot in the lineup, playing third and batting eighth. The 26-year-old has appeared in three games so far and has recorded a double and a single in three plate appearances. Trejo is nothing more than a backup infielder with the Rockies but fantasy managers can use him as a sneaky streaming option for his decent batting average and power potential.
