The 34-year-old veteran has made the All-Star team twice in the last three years and went 12-5 with a 3.63 ERA (3.88 FIP) and 1.14 WHIP while walking 47 and striking out 132 hitters in 144 innings over his 25 starts in 2023 during the regular season. During the team's run to the World Series in the playoffs, he went 5-0 with a 2.95 ERA and 41 K's in 36 2/3 frames. Eovaldi can be a solid fantasy asset when healthy, but he's gone over 150 innings just once since the 2016 campaign.

The 33-year-old veteran hurler was strong all regular season in his first year in Texas and has been even better in the playoffs, allowing only seven earned runs on 21 hits (two home runs) while walking only four and striking out 28 in 26 innings over his four starts. He'll be hoping the Rangers can win their fourth road game of the ALCS on Monday night in Game 7 to advance to the World Series.

Mon Oct 16 202315:05Nathan Eovaldi Starting Game 2 Against Astros
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi is starting Game 2 of the American League Championship Series on Monday in Houston against the Astros as the Rangers look to take a 2-0 series lead against their division rivals. The hard-throwing righty tossed seven shutout innings for a win over Houston On July 1 in Texas, but he gave up four earned runs in just 1 1/3 innings in his most recent start against them on Sept. 5 in Texas in his first start back from the injured list.

Sun Oct 8 202314:20Nathan Eovaldi Slated To Start Game 3 Of The ALDS

Eovaldi looked sharp in his first playoff start against the Rays on Wednesday, holding Tampa to just one run over 6 2/3 innings while striking out eight. The 33-year-old was mostly solid this season--although, he did struggle some down the stretch (5.82 ERA/6.10 FIP over his final nine starts--as he finished with a 3.63 ERA, 1.139 WHIP, and 132:47 K/BB ratio over 144 innings (25 starts). Sat Sep 30 202301:50Nathan Eovaldi Tagged With Seven Earned Runs In Loss To The M's
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi took the loss on Friday when he allowed seven earned runs on five hits to go along with five strikeouts and two walks over 3 1/3 innings in an 8-0 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Mariners. Eovaldi worked through the first two innings with ease before surrendering solo home runs to both Ty France and Josh Rojas in the third inning. He then coughed up an RBI double to Eugenio Suarez in that same frame before loading the bases and allowing another RBI single in the fourth inning. He was pulled at 3 1/3 innings and replaced by reliever Brock Burke, who allowed a grand slam to J.P. Crawford to break the game open. When it was all said and done, Eovaldi was tagged with seven earned runs. The veteran right-hander has been a disaster in September, sporting a 9.30 ERA and 1.92 WHIP while allowing 21 earned runs in 20 1/3 innings. The 33-year-old hasn't made it past the fifth inning in any of his six starts this month, either. He will finish the 2023 regular season with a 12-5 record, 3.63 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 132:47 K/BB ratio over 144 innings (25 starts).

Thu Sep 14 202318:01Nathan Eovaldi Searches For Length On Thursday
The Texas Rangers and starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi look to finish off a series sweep against the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. The veteran right-hander hasn't looked overly sharp since coming off the injured list on Sep. 5, giving up four runs in 3 2/3 innings over two short starts. Eovaldi toes the slab in a tough spot to get back on track against right-hander Kevin Gausman and a Toronto team that he shows a 6.59 ERA in 41 innings (eight starts) against since 2019. Season-long fantasy managers in playoff matchups might want to consider benching Eovaldi on Thursday, but the 33-year-old could be a leverageable DFS tournament option in the late window.

Wed Sep 6 202300:28Nathan Eovaldi Hit Hard In Tuesday Return
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi did not have a pleasant return from the injured list in Tuesday's 14-1 loss to the Astros. Eovaldi, who was activated from the 15-day IL after recovering from a right forearm strain, pitched just 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on five hits (including two home runs) and a walk with one strikeout. While he hadn't pitched since the end of July and did return to a tough matchup, this was certainly not what fantasy managers were hoping for. The 33-year-old has pitched well this season, going 11-4 with a 2.95 ERA in 20 starts. However, his next start will also be a tough matchup at the Blue Jays. Fantasy managers may be put in a tough start/sit situation depending on where they stand in the fantasy playoffs.

Tue Sep 5 202301:30Nathan Eovaldi To Be Activated And Start On Tuesday
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) will be activated from the 15-day injured list and start against the division-rival Houston Astros on Tuesday. Eovaldi didn't go on a minor-league rehab assignment and hasn't pitched in a game since July 30 due to a right-forearm strain, though, so he'll be a pretty risky fantasy option in a tough matchup in his return to Texas' starting rotation. But the 33-year-old veteran deserves to be rostered in all fantasy leagues down the stretch, as he'll be returning to a strong 11-3 record, 2.69 ERA (3.23 FIP), 1.01 WHIP, 34 walks and 111 strikeouts in 123 2/3 innings pitched in his 19 starts in his first year with the Rangers. In his three July starts, Eovaldi allowed four earned runs on nine hits (no homers) while walking 11 and fanning 10 in 18 1/3 frames against the Astros, Red Sox and Rays.

Sun Sep 3 202318:51Nathan Eovaldi Could Return On Tuesday
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) could rejoin the starting rotation as early as Tuesday. The right-hander was able to throw a bullpen session on Sunday, which is a step in the right direction. It sounds like Eovaldi will take the mound on Tuesday as long as he doesn't have any issues following this bullpen session. The 33-year-old has been out since early July due to a right forearm strain. Eovaldi has pitched extremely well this season, so fantasy managers will be glad to have him back soon.

Fri Sep 1 202312:19Nathan Eovaldi To Throw Another Bullpen Friday
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) threw a "light bullpen" on Wednesday in New York, which manager Bruce Bochy said went well. Eovaldi will throw a "much heavier 'pen" on Friday when the team returns to Texas. "We'll wait and see how it goes, and we expect it to go fine," Bochy said. "We expect him to come out of it fine and we'll make a decision." Eovaldi had a setback on Aug. 27 when Bochy said he was feeling tightness in his side after a bullpen session. The Rangers are just being cautious with the All-Star, who has gone 11-3 with a 2.69 ERA in 2023. He's been out since July 27 with a right-forearm strain. The 33-year-old deserves to be stashed in all fantasy formats, but he's running out of time to make an impact before the end of the season.

Mon Aug 28 202312:06Nathan Eovaldi Feels Tightness In His Side
Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (forearm, side) felt tightness in his side after his latest bullpen session. There is nothing wrong with Eovaldi's arm, but the team is being cautious with the All-Star. Eovaldi was slated to play catch before the team's game on Sunday, had a "great" bullpen session on Aug. 24 but reported some tightness in his side. The Rangers have decided he'll throw another bullpen on Tuesday in New York. The 33-year-old has been out since July 27 with a right-forearm strain. The Rangers are still unsure if he'll return straight to the starting rotation or if he'll go on a minor-league rehab assignment. Regardless, he should remain stashed in all fantasy formats, as he's gone 11-3 this year with a 2.69 ERA.

Sun Aug 27 202310:19Nathan Eovaldi Slated For Another Bullpen Session
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) will toss another bullpen session during the upcoming three-game series against the New York Mets. The 33-year-old has progressed well and had a few days off in between, but Texas will assign him one more 'pen session and determine the next steps in his recovery from a right forearm strain. Having already thrown live batting practice for two innings last week, it's unclear at this time if Eovaldi will require a rehab assignment. The All-Star right-hander hasn't pitched since July 18 versus the Tampa Bay Rays, but could be looking at an early-September return even if he needs a brief rehab assignment.

Tue Aug 22 202312:17Nathan Eovaldi Throws To Live Hitters
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) threw a live batting practice session of two innings, including warming up for a third inning, at Chase Field in Arizona on Monday. He also threw a bullpen session of around 40 pitches on Aug. 13 and another one on Aug. 16. Eovaldi reported no issues after Monday's session and thinks he could presently get big-league hitters out. The Rangers haven't confirmed the next step for Eovaldi or whether he'll need a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining the rotation. Either way, the 33-year-old appears close to rejoining the Rangers as they push to win the American League West. Eovaldi has been great this year, going 11-3 with a 2.69 ERA (3.24 FIP), 1.01 WHIP and 111 strikeouts in 123 2/3 innings over 19 starts in his first year in Texas.

Sun Aug 20 202310:30Nathan Eovaldi Set To Face Live Hitters Next
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) is scheduled to throw to live hitters during this week's upcoming series in Arizona against the Diamondbacks. It's the next step in the 33-year-old's recovery program after throwing three bullpen sessions without a problem. The Rangers placed Eovaldi on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm strain on July 30, and he appears likely to have missed around a month of play by the time he returns. The 2023 All-Star right-hander still has a chance to be activated in late August if all continues to go well. Eovaldi, a top-five roto-league fantasy pitcher this year, has registered a 2.69 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 111 strikeouts, and 11 wins in 123.2 innings.

Thu Aug 17 202312:16Nathan Eovaldi To Throw Another Bullpen This Weekend
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) threw a bullpen session of around 40 pitches on Aug. 13 and then another one on Wednesday that consisted of two "up-downs" to simulate around three innings of work. He said he felt fine physically and is scheduled to throw another bullpen this weekend. Eovaldi has made just one start since the All-Star break, when he went six scoreless innings on July 18 to lower his season ERA to a league-best 2.69. He went on the injured list on July 30 with a right-forearm strain. It remains to be seen if the 33-year-old will go on a minor-league rehab assignment, but even if he does, he could be back before the end of August. Eovaldi should obviously remain stashed in all fantasy formats based on how well he's pitched in 2023.

Tue Aug 15 202322:39Nathan Eovaldi Throws Bullpen On Tuesday
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) threw another encouraging bullpen session on Tuesday and pitched the equivalent of two innings. Eovaldi continues to ramp up his throwing program and will next need to face live hitters before eventually going on a minor-league rehab start. If he doesn't require a rehab assignment, there's a chance that he could be back in Texas' starting rotation before the end of August. The 33-year-old veteran should be stashed in all fantasy leagues after the way he's pitched to this point in the year. Eovaldi currently has an 11-3 record, a league-best 2.69 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 111 strikeouts in 123 2/3 innings over 19 starts. Fantasy managers can only hope he'll be half as good down the stretch when he returns from his forearm injury.

Wed Aug 9 202314:42Nathan Eovaldi Throws Short Bullpen Wednesday
Texas Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) threw a short 15-20-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday. The right-hander last appeared on July 18, when he threw six scoreless innings in a start against the Rays and recently reported he was pain-free after throwing from 75 feet over the weekend. A lengthier bullpen session could come Saturday if all is well following his bullpen on Wednesday. Signed to a two-year deal prior to the season, the 33-year-old owns a tidy 2.69 ERA across 19 starts for the Rangers despite seeing his K-BB% dip to 16.1%, his lowest mark since 2019. Nonetheless, Eovaldi's eventual return would give the Rangers a potentially lethal rotation alongside trade-deadline acquisitions Max Scherzer and Jordan Montgomery.

Sat Aug 5 202318:39Nathan Eovaldi Is Pain-Free
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) is reportedly pain-free after throwing on Saturday. The right-hander was able to make 40 throws from 75 feet, while he works his way back up from a forearm strain. It was recently mentioned that Eovaldi is two or three weeks away from pitching in a game. That is tough for fantasy managers who have been stashing the right-hander. Hopefully, Eovaldi is able to get back on the mound by the end of August. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Eovaldi as it sounds like he is making progress.

Fri Aug 4 202319:33Nathan Eovaldi 2-3 Weeks From Pitching In A Game
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) is now two to three weeks from pitching in a game, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Eovaldi was scheduled to play catch on Friday. The 33-year-old won't be coming off the 15-day injured list now when he's eligible to return next weekend. It's a bummer for fantasy managers that have been riding Eovaldi all year before he suffered a right-forearm strain. Still, he's worth stashing in all fantasy formats, as he should be able to help you down the stretch in September. In his first year in Texas, he has been dynamic, going 11-3 with an impressive 2.69 ERA (3.24 FIP), 1.01 WHIP, 34 walks and 111 strikeouts in 123 2/3 frames over his 19 starts.
