Wed Dec 20 202314:21Jake Marisnick Inks Minors Deal With Angels
Free-agent outfielder Jake Marisnick has signed a minor-league deal with the Los Angeles Angels. The defensive specialist split the 2023 season between the White Sox, Tigers, and Dodgers but scuffled to a .237 average with two home runs and two stolen bases across 83 plate appearances. He does offer some pop and speed on the basepaths, but Marisnick's path to playing time lies in a glove that has long graded well above the league average and has been elite at times. In 877 big-league appearances, much of which came with the Astros from 2015-2019, Marisnick has hit .228 with 65 home runs and 81 stolen bases across 2,247 trips to the plate.

Sun Jul 23 202316:48Jake Marisnick Will Miss At Least Three Weeks
According to Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts, outfielder Jake Marisnick (hamstring) will miss "at least three weeks." The 32-year-old, who recently joined the Dodgers, exited Tuesday's meeting against the Orioles because of a hamstring injury. However, Marisnick likely isn't featured on many fantasy rosters, and that probably won't change once he returns unless he becomes a consistent producer.

Wed Jul 19 202300:25Jake Marisnick Exits Early Tuesday With Hamstring Injury
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Jake Marisnick (hamstring) exited Tuesday's 10-3 win over the Orioles early with an apparent hamstring injury, per Dodgers beat writer Bill Plunkett. The 32-year-old pinch-hit for Jason Heyward and went 1-for-1 with a single before being replaced by Chris Taylor after feeling something when running out to center field. Marisnick joined the Dodgers on July 15 and has slashed .237/.280/.408 in 83 plate appearances across three teams. While Plunkett mentioned that Marisnick may need to spend time on the injured list, fantasy managers should wait for further definitive news.

Thu Jul 13 202315:25Jake Marisnick Signs Minor-League Deal With Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent outfielder Jake Marisnick to a minor-league deal on Thursday, according to a source. Marisnick declined a minor-league assignment with the Detroit Tigers this week to become a free agent. It will be the veteran outfielder's third MLB team this year after he started the season with the Chicago White Sox. In 42 total games (77 plate appearances), the 32-year-old has hit .225/.263/.408 with two home runs, three doubles, two triples, 10 RBI, two stolen bases and 10 runs scored in a part-time role. At best, Marisnick will be a platoon option with James Outman in center field, so his fantasy ceiling is as outfield depth in NL-only leagues.

Tue May 30 202321:56Tigers Trade For Jake Marisnick Tuesday
The Detroit Tigers swung a deal with the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, acquiring outfielder Jake Marisnick in exchange for cash considerations, according to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. The 32-year-old will join the big league club, and there will be a corresponding move on Wednesday. The team's in need of some outfield depth after losing Matt Vierling (back) to the 10-day injured list and Riley Greene (leg) leaving Tuesday's contest prematurely with a leg injury. It isn't clear how much playing time Marisnick will get, but even if he plays every day, fantasy managers can stay away from the career .228 hitter.

Sat Jan 7 202313:16White Sox Sign Jake Marisnick To Minor-League Deal
The Chicago White Sox signed free-agent outfielder Jake Marisnick to a minor-league deal on Friday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, according to a source. Marisnick, a big-league veteran of 10 seasons, spent the 2022 campaign with the Pittsburgh Pirates and hit .234/.272/.390 with a .661 OPS, two home runs, six RBI, nine runs scored and two stolen bases in 82 plate appearances over just 31 games. The 31-year-old has always been a defense-first player with some decent speed on the base paths, but he doesn't bring much to the table offensively with a career slash line of .228/.281/.384 with 63 home runs in 831 games played. Marisnick has been much better against left-handed pitchers in his career and should battle for Chicago's fourth outfield spot in spring training.

Tue Jul 12 202222:59Jake Marisnick Homers In Back-To-Back Games
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jake Marisnick has been back from thumb surgery for two games, and he's gone deep in each. Marisnick went 1-for-3 Tuesday with a solo shot off of Miami Marlins starting pitcher Daniel Castano. While Marisnick would not be expected to garner much playing time for most teams, he appears to be in line for plenty of at-bats on a Pirates team that could be sellers leading up to the trade deadline. Even so, fantasy managers can likely find better options on the waiver wire.

Wed May 11 202212:39Jake Marisnick Needs Surgery On His Thumb
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jake Marisnick (thumb) will need surgery after sustaining a UCL injury in his left thumb, according to trainer Todd Tomczyk. There is no timeline for Marisnick's return, but it's likely to be a repair and not a reconstruction of the UCL, which means he should be able to return in weeks instead of months. The Pirates put the 31-year-old on the injured list on Tuesday after he suffered the injury on Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Marisnick wasn't much of a fantasy option to begin with in Pittsburgh, as he was hitting just .163 with no home runs, one RBI, five runs scored and one stolen base in 22 games.

Mon May 9 202221:52Jake Marisnick Leaves With Injury On Monday
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jake Marisnick left Monday's 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers with an injury. Marisnick injured his left thumb after a hard landing while making a diving catch during the win. The veteran outfielder went 0-for-2 in the game before Cole Tucker pinch-hit for him during the sixth inning. Marisnick is hitting just .170 with five runs, one RBI, and one steal on the season. Look for Pittsburgh to update Marisnick's status in the near future.

Thu Apr 7 202214:19Pirates Sign Jake Marisnick To Majors Deal
The Pittsburgh Pirates signed free-agent outfielder Jake Marisnick to an undisclosed major league deal on Thursday. Marisnick was released by the Texas Rangers earlier this week, and he will provide the Pirates with outfield depth with both Anthony Alford (wrist) and Greg Allen (hamstring) on the injured list to begin the season. Marisnick hit just .160 with a home run and four RBI in 10 spring training games after slashing .216/.286/.375 with five home runs, 24 RBI and 21 runs scored in 198 plate appearances over 99 games last year with the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres. The 31-year-old is more of a defense-first player that can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Tue Apr 5 202218:20Rangers Release Jake Marisnick And Brandon Workman
The Texas Rangers have released outfielder Jake Marisnick and relief pitcher Brandon Workman. Both players had signed minor league contracts with the club this offseason. The 31-year-old Marisnick spent the 2021 season with the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres. He had a rough spring with the Rangers, going just 4-for-25 over 10 games. Workman, meanwhile, only pitched two innings this spring. He allowed three hits and two earned runs, but he also recorded a save and struck out three batters. The 33-year-old pitched for the Boston Red Sox and the Cubs last year, but didn't have much success with either club.

Fri Jul 30 202116:22Padres Acquire Jake Marisnick From Cubs
The San Diego Padres have acquired outfielder Jake Marisnick from the Chicago Cubs, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com. There's no word of what the return is for Chicago, but this figures to be a depth move for San Diego, as they already have Tommy Pham, Jurickson Profar, Trent Grisham and Wil Myers rotating through the outfield. Marisnick is hitting .227 with a .731 OPS over 65 games this year, and doesn't figure to have much fantasy value going forward.

Thu Jul 22 202122:52Braves beat Phillies 7-2, climb back into NL East race
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Dansby Swanson hit his first career grand slam, Orlando Arcia added a solo shot and the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-2 on Thursday night to inch closer in the NL East race. Charlie Morton (9-4) allowed two earned runs over six innings and struck out eight in his latest strong start. With the victory, the Braves — winners of the last three NL East titles — closed within four games of the idle New York Mets and tied Philadelphia for second place at 47-48. Atlanta did most of its offensive damage against Phillies starter Matt Moore, who allowed six earned runs in six innings. Morton cruised for most of the night before stumbling a bit in the seventh when Didi Gregorius hit a leadoff triple and Odubel Herrera followed with an RBI double. Luke Jackson replaced Morton and got two outs before allowing Jean Segura’s RBI single. The Braves added a run in the ninth when Austin Riley drew a bases-loaded walk off Mauricio Llovera.
