The Atlanta Braves agreed to a minor league deal with free-agent infielder Phil Gosselin on Saturday, according to a source. Gosselin spent the 2021 season with the Los Angeles Angels, where he hit .261/.314/.362 with seven home runs, 47 RBI and 40 runs scored in 373 plate appearances over 104 games. The 33-year-old will likely be given an invite to spring camp, and he'll be hoping to make the team's Opening Day roster as infield depth for Atlanta. Gosselin has played with seven different teams in nine big-league seasons, and he'll be returning to the Braves after beginning his career with them in 2013. He has a career .261/.314/.362 slash line with 17 homers and 101 RBI.

Utilityman Phil Gosselin is set for free agency, as the Los Angeles Angels have opted not to tender him a contract. They did tender their three other eligible players, catcher Max Stassi, pitcher Mike Mayers, and utilityman Tyler Wade. It is the acquisitions of Wade and Andrew Velazquez, both from the Yankees, which likely made Gosselin expendable. The 33-year-old recorded a .676 OPS in 345 at-bats in 2021, appearing at first base, third base, and in the corner outfield. He should catch on with another team after the expected lockout but will remain off the fantasy radar.

The Cleveland Indians have broken COVID-19 protocols for the third time in less than a year, this time costing them third baseman José Ramírez and slugger Franmil Reyes. Manager Terry Francona said Sunday the two players were sent to their Arizona homes while the Indians wait to hear from Major League Baseball when they can rejoin the team.
