Wed Apr 1 201517:47Puello placed on waivers by Mets on Wednesday
Puello was placed on waivers by the Mets on Wednesday, ESPN New York reports.
Puello, who is on the 40-man roster, is out of options and was unlikely to make the Opening Day roster, so he must pass through waivers without being claimed by another team before the Mets can send him to Triple-A Las Vegas. Puello saw his numbers drop substantially with the move from Double-A Binghamton to Las Vegas this season. That regression brings to the forefront the question of whether his B-Mets numbers were inflated due to performance-enhancing drugs. Puello was suspended for his involvement with Biogenesis, retarding any progress he made prior to that.

Mon Jul 7 201411:53Puello returns from injury with two home runs
Mets prospect OF Cesar Puello went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs Sunday for Triple-A Las Vegas.
The 23-year-old also struck out twice in the game. Puello had been out of action with an injury since June 23, but he was batting just .137/.313/.255 in 20 games on the month before that. Overall, he's batted .233/.333/.358 with 14 extra-base hits (four homers), nine steals and a 39-18 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 64 games this season. Puello enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2013 at Double-A Binghamton, setting new career-highs with a .326 average, .950 OPS, 16 home runs and 73 RBI in 91 games. However, his season concluded with a 50-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs, which makes it's hard to say how much of his performance was aided.

Thu Apr 17 201409:18Mets OF prospect Puello with slow start
Mets outfield prospect Cesar Puello is hitting .261/.306/.304 through 14 games for Triple-A Las Vegas.
Puello was hitting .326/.403/.547 with 21 doubles and 16 home runs in 91 games at Double-A Binghamton when his season ended due to a PED suspension, so his poor slash line in a great ballpark for hitters is troubling. He only has two extra base hits, both doubles, so his extended layoff could be causing his slow return to form.
