Sat Apr 9 202208:49Delino DeShields Signs Minor League Deal With Braves
The Atlanta Braves have signed outfielder Delino DeShields to a minor league contract. The 29-year-old was a member of the Miami Marlins this spring. He appeared in four spring games with the Marlins and went 1-for-8 with a pair of strikeouts. The team released him just a few days before Opening Day. After spending his first five MLB seasons with the Texas Rangers, DeShields has bounced around the league over the past few years. He made 25 appearances with the Cincinnati Reds last year and slashed .255/.375/.426 with one home run, two stolen bases, six RBI and four runs.

Outfielder Delino DeShields was sent on a minor league assignment by the Cincinnati Reds. However, he refused the assignment and elected to become a free agent instead. The 29-year-old split the 2021 season between three organizations. He began the year with the Texas Rangers, then spent time with the Boston Red Sox before joining the Reds. Thu Sep 2 202109:10Delino DeShields Jr. Called Up By Reds
The Cincinnati Reds selected the contract of outfielder Delino DeShields Jr. on Wednesday. DeShields was acquired in a trade with the Boston Red Sox just a day earlier, on Tuesday, in exchange for cash considerations. The news is particularly notable as DeShields' father, Delino DeShields Sr., is the first base coach for the Reds. Delino Jr. began the year in the Texas Rangers' organization and he has spent the majority of the season at Triple-A, where he has slashed .252/.385/.366 with six home runs, 21 stolen bases and 56 runs over 84 games. He appeared in both games of the Reds' doubleheader on Wednesday, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. The Reds have a crowded outfield right now, so don't expect DeShields to get more than a few starts per week while he's with the team.

Thu Aug 5 202111:24Red Sox Acquire Delino DeShields From Rangers
The Boston Red Sox have acquired outfielder Delino DeShields in a trade with the Texas Rangers in exchange for cash considerations. The 28-year-old DeShields will be heading to Triple-A Worcester as he joins the organization. DeShields, once one of the Rangers' top prospects, has spent the entire 2021 season at Triple-A Round Rock for the Rangers. Over 66 games at Round Rock, he slashed .263/.392/.368 with five home runs. He could be an option to give the Red Sox some outfield depth if rookie Jarren Duran continues to struggle.

Sun Oct 4 201513:04DeShields (undisclosed) back in lineup Sunday against Angels
DeShields (undisclosed) is back in the lineup Sunday against the Angels.
The Rangers pulled DeShields out of the game early in Saturday's 11-10 loss to the Angels with the injury, but his subsequent return to Sunday's lineup illustrates the ailment was nothing serious. DeShields will be plugged back into the leadoff role as the Rangers look to claim the AL West title with a victory.
Sat Oct 3 201515:32DeShields exited Saturday's game with undisclosed injury
DeShields exited Saturday's game with an undisclosed injury, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
DeShields was seen speaking with trainers after exiting the field in the sixth inning and shortly after he was replaced by pinch-hitter Mitch Moreland. While the extent and severity of the injury are an unknown at this time, more information should be available sometime after the game.

DeShields went 3-for-5 with two RBI, a steal and two runs scored in a blowout win over the A's on Thursday.
DeShields was barely batting above .200 in September prior to this game, so the recent breakout is a promising sign. A knee injury obviously slowed him down, but with seven hits and seven runs scored in his last four games, it appears DeShields is getting healthy. Fantasy owners stumbled into a nice player here, as he is a nice contributor in runs scored and steals for a second base eligible player. In all likelihood, he'll lose that eligibility next year, but he could develop into an even better player.

DeShields (knee) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the A's, manning center field and leading off.
The Rangers didn't elaborate much on the knee injury that forced DeShields from Saturday's game and kept him out Sunday, but evidently it was a minor issue, as he's back in the lineup following Monday's off day. DeShields has hit safely in seven of his last eight games, but is somehow still batting just .207/.254/.293 for the month of September.

DeShields (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.
DeShields left Saturday's game with a mysterious knee bruise that has now forced him to sit out a game. It's a day-to-day situation, so his return could come soon, but Drew Stubbs will get the start at center field in the meantime.

Deshields went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, and two runs scored in a 10-1 blowout over the Mariners on Saturday.
Coming into this game, Deshields was is a terrible slump. Over his previous 14 games, Deshields was hitting just .169 with only 10 hits. It's strange that he was playing so poorly while the Rangers were winning nearly every day, but it's still promising to see him atop the lineup. The potential for runs and steals are still very high and he should still be owned in most standard mixed leagues.

DeShields was removed from Saturday's game with a bruised left knee, Anthony Andro of Fox Sports reports.
He didn't receive any attention from trainers while on the bench, so it seems like he was just removed for precautionary reasons. However more information should be available after the game.

DeShields' earliest likely return date from a knee sprain will be Friday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star Telegram reports.
DeShields was able to run at close to full speed Wednesday with no reported issues, but he'll likely be out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale in Seattle. As such, owners should check on the Rangers' lineup when it's released Thursday to make sure he's still out, but expect him to come back during the Rangers' weekend series against Oakland.

DeShields (knee) is not in the lineup Wednesday for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, according to Rangers VP of Comm. John Blake.

DeShields sustained a "mild" left knee sprain Monday and is considered day-to-day.
The fact that this injury isn't severe comes as good news for DeShields owners, but it also may force the young speedster to ease off on his running even more than he already had recently. He's 0-for-2 on steal attempts over his last 11 games and has just one successful swipe in his last 19.
Mon Sep 7 201521:06Delino DeShields Jr.: (Knee) Leaves Early Monday
DeShields appeared to suffer a knee injury on a steal attempt in Monday's game against the Mariners, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
The initial report speculates that DeShields -- who had missed Sunday's game with upper-body soreness -- hyperextended the knee, but we'll wait for further word from the team. Consider the speedy rookie day-to-day for now, but this could end up being a longer-term concern.

DeShields is active against the Mariners on Monday.
DeShields was held out of the game on Sunday with soreness in his upper torso, but it appears as if the soreness subsided in time for Monday's game. He will man center field and hit leadoff for the Rangers.
Sun Sep 6 201514:34Updating previous report
Updating a previous report, DeShields is out of the lineup Sunday due to soreness in his upper torso, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
DeShields first began experiencing the discomfort after a checked swing late in Saturday's game. The Rangers will hold him out as a precaution, and likely reevaluate the outfielder prior to Monday's series opener against the Mariners. At the very least, fantasy owners can take solace in the fact that DeShields wasn't held out of Sunday's lineup for performance-related reasons.

DeShields is out of the lineup Sunday against the Angels.
DeShields hasn't had a day off in over a month, so he was likely overdue for a maintenance day. Drew Stubbs will take over in center field and bat atop the order.
