Fri Jul 15 202208:13Ender Inciarte Designated For Assignment By Mets
The New York Mets designated outfielder Ender Inciarte for assignment on Thursday. The 31-year-old was activated by the Mets in late June and appeared in just 11 games for the Mets, going 1-for-8 at the plate. He's spent the bulk of the year playing at Triple-A. He began the year on a minor league contract with the New York Yankees before the Mets took a chance on him. The DFA was made to open up a roster spot for second baseman Jeff McNeil, who returned from the paternity list.

Tue Jun 28 202216:44Ender Inciarte Activated By Mets
The New York Mets activated outfielder Ender Inciarte from Triple-A on Tuesday. In a pair of corresponding moves, the team optioned Nick Plummer to Triple-A and designated pitcher Locke St. John for assignment. Inciarte signed a minor league deal with the Mets about a week ago. He's played in a total of 38 games at Triple-A this year while on contract with both the Mets and Yankees. Over those 38 games, he's slashed .244/.323/.387 with four home runs, six stolen bases, 11 RBI and 14 runs. He'll solely provide outfield depth for the Mets for now and isn't someone worth monitoring for fantasy purposes.

Fri Dec 17 202111:32Yankees Sign Ender Inciarte
The New York Yankees signed outfielder Ender Inciarte to a minor league deal on Wednesday. The three-time Gold Glover can sign with a team during MLB's lockout because he was not on a 40-man roster to end last year. The 31-year-old was an All-Star in 2017 and has hit .280 with 118 stolen bases and a 91 OPS+ in eight seasons in the majors. Inciarte is best known for his defense in center field, though, but he has seen a sharp decline with his glove since his last Gold Glove season in 2018. He played 52 games with the Atlanta Braves in 2021 before he was designated for assignment in July, and he finished out the year at Triple-A for the Cincinnati Reds before being released in August. The Yankees also signed center fielder Blake Perkins, shortstop Wilkerman Garcia and right-hander Vinny Nittoli to minor league deals.

Fri Aug 6 202108:17Ender Inciarte Signs Minor League Deal With Reds
The Cincinnati Reds signed outfielder Ender Inciarte to a minor league deal on Thursday. He is set to report to Triple-A Louisville to begin play within the organization. Inciarte played in 52 games for the Atlanta Braves this year before the team designated him for assignment. Over those 52 games, he slashed .215/.276/.316 with two home runs, 10 RBI and 11 runs. He's primarily been a reserve outfielder over the last three years and would likely take on a reserve role with the Reds if he's able to make it back to the big leagues this year.

Fri Jul 30 202118:35Braves reload for chase in mediocre NL East with 4 trades
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves’ flurry of trade-deadline moves on Friday highlighted how fortunate they are to be in the NL East, where any team close to .500 is still relevant. Though the Braves entered the day one game under .500, they were only four games behind the first-place New York Mets. Emboldened by the standings, general manager Alex Anthopoulos acquired outfielders Adam Duvall, Jorge Soler and Eddie Rosario and reliever Richard Rodriguez in an attempt to position Atlanta for a run at its fourth consecutive division title. The moves were notable for a team that has not been above .500 all season. “There’s no doubt we’ve had our challenges,” Anthopoulos said. “The one thing that’s fortunate for us is we’re playing in the NL East in 2021. We’re all in it.” The Mets, second-place Phillies and Braves are still in the race. The Nationals and Marlins bowed out, moving veterans for prospects at the trade deadline. “From our standpoint, when talent leaves the NL East, we’re certainly... [More]

Thu May 13 202116:26Braves' Ronald Acua jams left ankle, avoids serious injury
ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. will avoid the injured list after leaving Thursday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays with a left ankle injury. X-rays on Acuña's ankle were negative. Manager Brian Snitker said Acuña is day to day. Acuña, who led off the game with his 12th homer, the most in the major leagues, suffered the injury when trying to beat out a grounder to third base in the seventh. “Those are scary moments for players, especially when they’ve got the torque and force he's running with," Snitker said. Acuña was initially ruled safe by first base umpire Mike Estabrook before a video review overturned the call. Acuña hopped down the right field line before collapsing onto the outfield grass. After being checked by a trainer on the field, Acuña was able to walk back to the dugout. Acuña was the second Braves outfielder to leave the game. Cristian Pache will be placed on the 10-day injured list with right hamstring tightness. Pache also was hurt trying to run out a grounder in the second inning. Snitker said Ender Inciarte, who has been out since April 17 with a left hamstring strain, will come off the IL. “We can bring him off the rehab assignment and let him play,” Snitker said. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Mon Apr 19 202119:29Braves say Acua day to day with mild abdominal strain
NEW YORK (AP) — The Atlanta Braves say Ronald Acuña Jr. had an MRI on Monday that revealed a mild abdominal strain and that the star outfielder is day to day heading into a series at Yankee Stadium beginning Tuesday. Acuña was injured in the fourth inning of Atlanta's 13-4 win over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday night. He led off the fourth inning with a walk, and pitcher Kyle Hendricks threw over a couple of times while he was on first. It looked as if Acuña did something to his midsection on a dive back to the bag. The All-Star was checked by a trainer while he was on second, but he stayed in. He got up slowly after diving home to score on Travis d’Arnaud’s sacrifice fly, and then was replaced in the field in the bottom half. Acuña is off to a terrific start this year, batting .419 with seven homers and 16 RBIs in 16 games. The outfielder also has scored a major league-high 21 runs. He was honored as the National League's player of the week Monday. The reigning NL East champions have been hit hard by injuries during a rough start to the season. Pitchers Max Fried, Drew Smyly and Sean Newcomb and outfielders Cristian Pache and Ender Inciarte have been placed on the 10-day IL since Wednesday. Atlanta plays the Yankees in the Bronx on Tuesday and Wednesday before opening a home series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

This year, the famous race has been moved to Oct. 11 due to the pandemic. Chicago ace Lucas Giolito (1-0, 2.55 ERA) is slated to start the series finale against Nathan Eovaldi (2-1, 2.08). Sat Apr 17 202123:29Sean Kazmar makes it back to majors after 13-year absence
CHICAGO (AP) — Sean Kazmar Jr. grounded into a double play — and sounded overjoyed. “Definitely everything and then some,” he said. “What an amazing feeling.” While Kazmar and the Atlanta Braves lost to the Chicago Cubs 13-4, his pinch-hit appearance in the fifth inning marked the 36-year-old infielder's first major league game since Sept. 23, 2008, with the San Diego Padres — a span of 12 years, 6 months, 25 days. “Obviously wasn't the outcome we were looking for. A win would have been nice,” he said. “But what a good feeling — just last night when Snit told me and waking up and then getting that opportunity early in the game was awesome. But, again, yeah, man, amazing feeling, and hopefully stick around a little longer.” Kazmar was in his hotel room Friday night watching the Braves' game on television and realized his odds of a callup were getting better when Ender Inciarte injured a hamstring in the fourth inning and Ozzie Albies Jr. was hit on the right calf by Justin Steel's pitch... CHICAGO (AP) — Sean Kazmar Jr. returned to the major leagues after an 13-year absence, pinch hitting for the Atlanta Braves and grounding into a double play on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs. The 36-year-old infielder's contract was selected by the Braves from their alternate training site before the game. He pinch hit in the fifth inning grounded into a 4-6-3 double play. He appeared in 19 games that season for his only previous major league action, and had since played in Triple-A for the Padres, Seattle Mariners, New York Mets and Braves, plus Double-A for the Mets — a total of 1,106 minor league games, “That was probably one of the greatest moments I’ve had as a manager at all the levels, quite honestly,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said of informing Kazmar of his return. “It’s amazing. CHICAGO (AP) — The Atlanta Braves placed 36-year-old infielder Sean Kazmar Jr. on the active roster on Saturday, a move that put a big smile on the face of manager Brian Snitker. And for good reason. Kazmar hasn't played in the major leagues in more than a decade. “That was probably one of the greatest moments I’ve had as a manager at all the levels, quite honestly,” Snitker said of informing Kazmar of his return. “It’s amazing.
