ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays' bullpen had been one of the team's biggest strengths in the first month of the season, but Steve Geltz has endured a hellish week, giving up three deciding home runs in a span of six days, including Sunday's two-run go-ahead shot with two outs in the ninth as Oakland rallied for a 7-6 win."That might be one of the more difficult ones of the first part of the year here. Obviously a tough loss," manager Kevin Cash said. "It's a good thing that losses only count as one, because that can feel like it counted as three or four right there."On Monday, Geltz inherited two runners in a tie game and gave up a three-run home run in a 5-2 loss to Seattle, and two days later he gave up a walkoff home run in the 11th in another loss to the Mariners. Oakland had been 0-20 this season when trailing after eight innings, but on Sunday, his first pitch was sent 426 feet over the wall in left field for Danny Valencia's third home run of the game and fifth of the weekend.Geltz has allowed 13 home runs since the start of the 2015 season, tied for third-most among American League relievers. That's three game-winning home runs in four appearances, including two in which he inherited a runner and gave up a home run on the first pitch he threw."He just jumped on the first pitch and hit it out," Geltz said. "I have to make better pitches than that and be more competitive and help my team out. ... It is something I have experienced before, I remember not too long ago. It is the game of baseball. Time to move on and get them tomorrow."
