Fri Apr 1218:53Joc Pederson Sitting Versus Southpaw
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Joc Pederson (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. This appears to be a routine rest day for Pederson against a left-handed starting pitcher. The D-Backs will play matchups here and go with Blaze Alexander at designated hitter versus Steven Matz. There's not a ton of value here with Alexander, so most fantasy managers should be able to find a better streaming option. The expectation is that Pederson should return to the lineup following this game.

Wed Apr 1012:20Gabriel Moreno, Joc Pederson Sitting Out Wednesday
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno and outfielder/designated hitter Joc Pederson are both out of the team's starting lineup on Wednesday as they face the Colorado Rockies. Tucker Barnhart is doing the catching and will hit eighth, while Ketel Marte will serve as the designated hitter and bat leadoff against Rockies lefty Austin Gomber. Kevin Newman is at second base and is batting ninth. Moreno had four hits on Tuesday but unsurprisingly will be on the bench in a day game after a night game. Pederson will now be on the bench for the fourth time in five games with Arizona facing a southpaw. After Marte went hitless on Monday and got the day off on Tuesday, he should be thrown back into all fantasy lineups on Wednesday, as he's hit a career .389 with two home runs and five RBI in 18 at-bats against Gomber.

Fri Mar 2919:04Joc Pederson Moves Into Starting Lineup
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Joc Pederson will slide into the starting lineup on Friday. The lefty slugger will play after sitting out the season opener with a left-handed starter opposing them in that one. Pederson will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth versus right-hander Cal Quantrill on Friday. The left-handed slugger looks to join in on the fun after watching his team put up 16 runs in the season opener. Fantasy managers who have Pederson rostered should make sure to get him in their lineups.

Fri Mar 821:45Joc Pederson Smashes Two-Run Homer In Big Spring Performance
Arizona Diamondbacks designated hitter Joc Pederson went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's 7-5 spring win over the Chicago Cubs. He took Chicago Cubs pitcher Kyle Hendricks deep in the third inning for his first homer of the spring. Pederson tacked on an RBI single in the fourth inning for his third RBI in Friday's victory. The 31-year-old is hitting .308 for a .976 OPS in six games this spring. He signed a one-year, one-year, $9.5 million contract with the Diamondback this offseason and is expected to serve as the team's primary designated hitter versus righties in 2024. Pederson slashed .235/.348/.416 with 15 home runs and a 111 wRC+ across 425 plate appearances for the Giants in 2023. The former Giant has an NFBC ADP of 528 and is mainly a fantasy option in NL-Only and deep-league formats.

Thu Feb 2912:41Joc Pederson Back In Cactus League Lineup
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder/designated hitter Joc Pederson (personal) is back in the team's Cactus League lineup on Thursday, starting in left field and hitting fifth against the San Francisco Giants. Pederson was scratched from the spring training lineup on Tuesday because he had to attend to a personal matter, but he's back out on the field on Thursday. The 31-year-old left-handed slugger is coming off a down year in 2023 for the San Francisco Giants in which he hit .235/.348/.416 with 15 home runs, 51 RBI and 59 runs scored in 358 at-bats a year after his second All-Star selection in 2022. Pederson is mostly expected to serve as Arizona's designated hitter against right-handed pitching in his first year in the desert. He's now in a more favorable hitting environment, but a likely platoon role gives Pederson a low fantasy ceiling and floor.

Tue Feb 2715:44Joc Pederson Scratched For Personal Reasons
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder/designated hitter Joc Pederson was scratched from Tuesday's Cactus League contest for personal reasons, but he'll be back in spring training action in a couple of days, according to manager Torey Lovullo. There is really nothing for fantasy managers to worry about here. The 31-year-old veteran left-handed slugger comes to Arizona after a disappointing .235/.348/.416 slash line with 15 home runs and 51 RBI in 121 games for the San Francisco Giants following his All-Star campaign in the Bay Area in 2022. He still has outfield eligibility for fantasy managers, but that may not be the case in 2025, as he's expected to serve mostly as the D-backs' DH in 2024. Pederson is a fair bet to bounce back at least slightly in a better hitting environment, but a potential platoon role will also hurt his overall fantasy upside.

Thu Jan 2521:08Joc Pederson, D-Backs Agree To One-Year Deal
The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed outfielder Joc Pederson to a one-year contract with a mutual option for the 2025 season. Financial terms of the pact have not yet been disclosed. An outfielder by trade, the D-backs reportedly view Pederson as mostly a designated hitter as he has consistently graded out poorly with his glove throughout his big-league career. The 31-year-old spent the 2023 season with the Giants, hitting .235 with 15 home runs alongside an impressive 13.4% BB% across 425 plate appearances, largely in a corner outfield platoon role with some DH reps mixed in. He will almost strictly face right-handed pitching in 2024 as the lefty-swinger owns a career .248 isolated power and .834 OPS against opposite-handed pitching. His platoon splits put a hard cap on his fantasy value.

Thu Jan 2514:09D-Backs Showing Interest In Joc Pederson
Free-agent outfielder Joc Pederson is receiving interest from the reigning NL champion Arizona Diamondbacks. While an outfielder by trade, the D-backs are viewing the 31-year-old as a designated hitter as Pederson has consistently drawn poor defensive grades throughout his career. His bat has largely remained productive, however, as he hit .235 with 15 home runs, a 13.4% BB%, and a .764 OPS across 425 plate appearances in a platoon corner outfield/DH role for the San Francisco Giants in 2023. He also struck out in just 20.9% of his plate appearances a season ago, his second-best mark in parts of 10 big-league seasons and well below his 23.7% career mark. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Emmanuel Rivera are currently projected to handle the bulk of DH reps for the D-backs in 2024.

Mon Sep 25 202321:28Joc Pederson Not Starting Monday
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson is not in his team's starting lineup on Monday. Pederson will take a seat against San Diego Padres ace lefty Blake Snell as his team kicks off an early-week series against their division rivals. Pederson will be replaced in the lineup by Mitch Haniger. Look for Pederson to return to action on Tuesday.

Tue Aug 29 202321:10Joc Pederson Out Of Lineup Again Tuesday
San Francisco Giants outfielder/designated hitter Joc Pederson is absent from the lineup for a fourth game in a row Tuesday as his club matches up with lefty Brandon Williamson and the Cincinnati Reds. The Giants have faced four consecutive left-handed starters, which has led to minimal playing time for the lefty-swinging 31-year-old. Over 95 games this season, Pederson's slashing .244/.355/.430 with 12 long balls, 48 runs, and 43 RBI. Luis Matos will take his spot in the lineup and bat eighth. The rookie has yet to find success across his 58 contests this year, hitting .249 with two homers and three steals, and fantasy managers can find better options on the wire.

Mon Jun 12 202318:22Joc Pederson Sitting On Monday
San Francisco Giants designated hitter/outfielder Joc Pederson is on the bench Monday versus the St. Louis Cardinals. Despite the veteran going 4-for-4 with a pair of homers, four runs, and four RBI in Sunday's 13-3 rout of the visiting Cubs, Pederson will hit the bench Monday as Cardinals role out a lefty in the form of Matthew Liberatore. Unsurprisingly, the lefty-swinging 31-year-old is enjoying a big season, hitting .282 with seven home runs, a 13.8% BB%, and a .934 OPS across 123 trips to the plate. J.D. Davis will take over as the club's DH and hit cleanup on Monday night in St. Louis.

Sun Jun 11 202319:43Joc Pederson Blasts Two Homers
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson put together an outstanding performance versus the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. The left-handed slugger went 4-for-4 with two home runs in the 13-3 win over Chicago. Pederson opened up the scoring with a 382-foot home run off Hayden Wesneski in the first inning. He followed that up with a two-run blast off Wesneski in the third inning. Pederson ended his day with four RBI and a walk in fantastic day at the plate. The 31-year-old is now slashing .282/.390/.544 with seven home runs and 24 RBI in 28 games this season.

Tue Jun 6 202318:58Joc Pederson, Thairo Estrada Back From IL And Starting
The San Francisco Giants activated outfielder Joc Pederson (hand) and infielder Thairo Estrada (wrist) from the injured list on Tuesday, and both players are starting against right-hander Dinelson Lamet and the Colorado Rockies. Pederson is serving as the designated hitter and batting third, while Estrada is at the keystone and hitting in the two-hole. In corresponding moves, infielder Brett Wisely and outfielder Bryce Johnson were optioned to the minors. Pederson is returning for the first time since landing on the IL on May 15, and he's likely to continue playing only against right-handers. The 31-year-old is hitting .235 with five homers and 18 RBI this year. Estrada, meanwhile, will return to his starting role at the keystone. The 27-year-old has been great with a .301 average, six home runs, 17 RBI, 30 runs and 13 stolen bases in 193 at-bats.

Sat Jun 3 202309:16Joc Pederson Starting Rehab Assignment On Saturday
San Francisco Giants designated hitter Joc Pederson (hand) is going on a rehab assignment in the minor leagues on Saturday. The 31-year-old has been out of action since May 13 with a right hand contusion, but his return is drawing near. Pederson was hitting .235/.351/.494 with five homers and 18 RBI over 97 plate appearances before going down. The two-time All-Star is worth a look for fantasy managers who could use some pop at the cost of speed and batting average. Upon his return, Pederson should slot back into the third or fourth spot of the San Fran lineup versus right-handed pitching regularly.

Thu May 25 202315:51Joc Pederson, Austin Slater Could Begin Rehab Assignments
San Francisco Giants outfielders Joc Pederson (hand) and Austin Slater (hamstring) could both start minor-league rehab assignments in the next few days. Pederson is "maybe a day or so away from swinging a bat," manager Gabe Kapler said. Slater, meanwhile, is "doing really well," according to Kapler. "In theory, he could be ready in the next three or four days to go out on a rehab assignment or join us. Everything's a possibility at this point." Pederson has been on the injured list since May 15 with a right-hand contusion, but he appears to have made good progress in the last couple of days. Unlike Slater, Pederson is a lineup regular when he's healthy. The 31-year-old left-handed slugger was batting .235 (19-for-81) with four doubles, a triple, five home runs and 18 RBI through 26 games at the time of his injury.

Wed May 24 202318:36Joc Pederson Hasn't Resumed Swinging Yet
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson (hand) was placed on the injured list last week. Manager Gabe Kapler said his grip strength is improving, but Pederson has not resumed swinging the bat yet. He did mention that he believes Pederson is a few days away from swinging again. Pederson is dealing with a right hand contusion, so hopefully he'll be able to return when first eligible. However, it could take a little longer, but Pederson should hopefully return by the end of May.

Mon May 15 202321:28Joc Pederson Placed On Injured List
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday, retroactive to May 13. Pederson injured his hand attempting to bunt on Friday and will miss at least the next week as he looks to heal up. The Giants activated outfielder Mike Yastrzemski (hamstring) off of the injured list in a corresponding move.

Sat May 13 202321:20Joc Pederson Day-To-Day With Hand Injury
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson (hand) is day-to-day after being hit in the right by a pitch while squaring to bunt during Friday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He underwent x-rays, which came back negative. The 31-year-old appears to have avoided a severe injury and could return to the lineup as early as Sunday after being held out of Saturday's contest. Pederson is slashing .235/.351/.494 with five home runs, 18 RBI, and 12 runs across 97 plate appearances in 2023. Wilmer Flores replaced Pederson in the lineup for Saturday's game and would see an uptick in at-bats if the veteran were to miss additional time.

Sat May 13 202318:44Joc Pederson Getting A Breather Saturday
San Francisco Giants designated hitter Joc Pederson isn't in Saturday's starting lineup for the game against Zac Gallen and the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 31-year-old is slashing .235/.351/.494 with five home runs, 12 runs, and 18 RBI across 26 games. Wilmer Flores will take over at DH and bat second. The former Met is having another solid year, batting .245 with six homers, 13 runs, and 11 RBI through 30 games. However, Flores hasn't been so successful off of righties, posting a .597 OPS, so with right-hander Gallen on the mound, it isn't a great time to use him as a streaming option.

Tue May 2 202312:38Joc Pederson Goes Deep In Loss To Astros
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson hit his third home run of the season on Monday night in a losing effort against the Houston Astros in a 7-3 ballgame. Pederson finished the contest 1-for-3 with two RBI, a run scored and a walk. It was nice to see the 31-year-old veteran left-handed slugger clear the fences for the first time since April 3. Pederson is now hitting .255 (14-for-55) with three doubles, a triple, three home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs scored in 17 games played after making the All-Star team for the second time in his career in 2022. He was out of action for two weeks with a wrist injury, so hopefully he'll start to get going again for fantasy managers with the calendar flipped to May.
