RHP Steve Delabar was suspended Monday for using performance-enhancing drugs. Delabar, who pitched for the Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays and Cincinnati Reds during a six-season span, was banned 80 games after a positive test for Ostarine under baseball's minor league drug program. Ostarine is used to retain lean mass. The 28-year-old is currently on the roster of Cleveland's Triple-A team in Columbus. He posted a 15-9 mark with a 4.07 ERA in 190 appearances with the three major league clubs, earning an All-Star invite in 2013.

RHP Steve Delabar had a nightmarish outing, pitching 1/3 of an inning in relief and giving up two runs on five walks, four of which came with the bases loaded. "Delabar doesn't do that, but we've been throwing him out there every other day," manager Bryan Price said. "It's too much for a bullpen."

RHP Steve Delabar had his contract selected from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday. Manager Bryan Price said he'll fill a middle relief role. Delabar went to spring training with the Blue Jays and in eight appearances posted a 2.35 ERA before being released in late March. The Reds signed him to a minor league contract on April 2.

RHP Steve Delabar, an All-Star in 2013, was released by the Blue Jays on Tuesday."I wasn't told (I had) any other choices," the 32-year-old Delabar said. "They just told me I'm not going to make the team and I was going to be put on release waivers, best of luck."The move was not a surprise considering the strength of the bullpen. Delabar was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Barry Davis of SportsNet reports.
The reliever has split the season between Triple-A and the Blue Jays, and he holds a 3.33 ERA across 27 cumulative major league innings. The 32-year-old will return to add depth to the Toronto bullpen over the final few weeks of the regular season.
Sat Jul 25 201513:40Delabar optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday
Delabar was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.
Delabar had a bumpy start to July, allowing seven earned runs in 3.1 innings of work, but was able to fire three scoreless frames in his two most recent outings. Still, Delabar was the odd man out on Toronto's roster as the Blue Jays activated Aaron Sanchez in a corresponding move Saturday.

Delabar collected his first save of the year Wednesday in Tampa, striking out two in a clean bottom of the 10th.
A nice one for those who happen to own Delabar, but don't go rushing out to pick him up -- Roberto Osuna had already pitched in the ninth, and ex-closer Brett Cecil had pitched the 11th. Nonetheless, Delabar's been money for those who've been using him for ratios, posting a spectacular 1.42 ERA and 0.79 WHIP through 19 appearances.

Delabar gave up one earned run in an inning of Tuesday's loss to the Rays.
After being named closer coming into Tuesday's game, Delabar hardly inspired confidence thanks to the eighth inning home run he allowed. Delabar has only allowed three earned runs all season in 18 innings of work; however, all three of those earned runs have come via the long ball. While his peripherals are sparkling (a 1.50 ERA and a 0.83 WHIP while striking out more than a batter per inning), it remains to be seen as to whether the 31-year-old can retain the closer's job long-term.

Delabar will serve as Toronto's closer Tuesday but has not been named the official closer moving forward, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
Brett Cecil lost his job as the Blue Jays' closer on Tuesday, and since Roberto Osuna pitched two innings Monday, Delabar will take the mound if a save situation is in play against the Rays. Delabar's hold on the closer's role is no sure thing moving forward, however, as Roberto Osuna has been electric out of the bullpen this season.

Delabar pitched 1.1 perfect innings Wednesday, striking out two.
While not typically used in high leverage situations, Delabar has quickly established himself as one of the top options in the Blue Jays' pen. He's given up just one earned run since May 11 and has picked up 18 strikeouts over 15 innings pitched this season. With a 1.20 ERA and a 0.67 WHIP to go along with his 10.8 K/9 rate, which is actually below his career average of 11.49, Delabar is an intriguing pickup as his usage increases.

Delabar pitched 1.1 innings, struck out one and picked up the win against the White Sox on Tuesday.
Delabar missed the 25-man roster at the start of the season in favor Miguel Castro and Roberto Osuna; however, while Castro is now down in the minors, Delabar has been one of the top options out of the bullpen. In eight appearances, he's given up only two hits and one earned run while striking out 10. With that being said, he does have five walks. His high strikeout rate makes him intriguing, but he has limited fantasy value due to his lack of appearances in high-leverage situations.

Delabar struck out two while pitching a perfect ninth inning in Friday's 7-0 win over the Red Sox.
After just missing the 25-man roster to open the season, Delabar finally got his chance after being called up on May 3. In his first two major league appearances of the season, he's pitched two shutout innings, conceding no hits and one walk while striking out two. Delabar likely won't pitch in any or many high leverage situations and has limited fantasy value due to a dwindling strikeout rate over the past year-plus.
