Wed Dec 7 202201:37David Price Won't Pitch In 2023
Free-agent left-hander David Price will not pitch in 2023, according to his long-time agent Bo McKinnis. Price isn't using the retirement word, but if this ends up being it for him, he'll finish his major-league career with a 157-82 record and a 3.32 ERA over 2,143 2/3 innings in 14 seasons. The five-time All-Star and 2013 American League Cy Young winner mostly worked as a reliever the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, posting a 3.47 ERA (4.11 FIP), a 1.33 WHIP, three saves and 95 strikeouts in 114 innings pitched over 79 appearances (11 starts). The 37-year-old was better in 2022 with a 2.45 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 37 K's in 40 1/3 relief innings. If Price does return in 2024, it'll likely be in a limited relief role.

Tue Sep 27 202217:36David Price Rejoins Dodgers Bullpen
The Los Angeles Dodgers activated left-handed relief pitcher David Price (wrist) from the 15-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned right-hander Andre Jackson to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. Price has been out for almost a month with wrist inflammation, but he'll rejoin the team for the tail end of the regular season and for the start of the playoffs in October. The 37-year-old veteran southpaw's days of fantasy relevance are over, but he's still been a solid real-life piece to the Dodgers bullpen in 2022 when he's been healthy. In 38 1/3 innings over 38 appearances, he has a 2.58 ERA (3.85 FIP), a 1.17 WHIP, one save and 37 strikeouts.

Thu Sep 15 202219:21David Price Throws Bullpen
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher David Price (wrist) threw a bullpen session on Wednesday. It was the first time Price has thrown off a mound since he landed on the injured list on Sept. 4 with left wrist inflammation. Despite dealing with wrist problems for a while before that, the 37-year-old southpaw has gone 2-0 with a solid 2.58 ERA (3.84 FIP), a 1.17 WHIP, one save and 37 strikeouts in 38 1/3 relief innings for the Blue this year. Barring a setback, Price expects to return from the injured list before the end of the regular season, so they should have him available as a lefty specialist out of the bullpen for the postseason.

Fri Sep 3 202120:15David Price Scratched On Friday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher David Price (arm) has been scratched from Friday's start against the San Francisco Giants. The veteran left-hander will sit this one out while he deals with arm soreness. Right-handed reliever Corey Knebel will be asked to be the opener for this game. It sounds like Price very well could be making a trip to the injured list. Fantasy managers aren't going to get much value out of Price this season. Knebel won't be worth the gamble for streaming purposes on Friday.

Sun Aug 22 202120:21David Price Picks Up Loss On Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher David Price struggled in Sunday's loss versus the New York Mets. Price got off to a rocky start with three runs being allowed in the top of the first inning, but he would settle down after that. The veteran would finish with a line of three hits, three runs, two walks and four strikeouts in four innings. Price has rarely been allowed by manager Dave Roberts to go past five innings and that limits his value to fantasy managers. Price is now 4-2 with a 3.82 ERA and is scheduled to face the Colorado Rockies in a favorable matchup on Saturday.

Wed Aug 18 202107:27David Price Fails To Go Five Innings
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher David Price went 4 2/3 innings in Tuesday's no-decision versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. The lefty allowed three hits, two runs, one walk and struck out three on the evening. Price has been solid as a starter for the Dodgers, but the issue for fantasy managers is that manager Dave Roberts rarely allows him to go five innings or more and that limits his potential. Price is now 4-1 with a 3.62 ERA in 31 games (10 starts). Price is in line to face the New York Mets on Sunday.

Thu Aug 12 202101:02David Price Goes Four Innings In No-Decision
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher David Price tossed a no-decision on Wednesday versus the Philadelphia Phillies. Price went four innings and allowed five hits, two runs, one walk and recorded one strikeout. Price only threw 51 pitches, but manager Dave Roberts continues to have a short leash with the veteran. Price has been pitching well for the Dodgers, but he loses value with his inability to go deep into games. Price is 4-1 with 3.60 ERA and will face the Pittsburgh Pirates in a favorable matchup on Monday. It would be nice to see Price be able to go deeper into ballgames, but he can still be looked at as an option in deeper mixed leagues.

Sat Aug 7 202108:55David Price Looks Good In No-Decision
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher David Price pitched well in Friday's no-decision versus the Los Angeles Angels. Price went 5 1/3 innings and allowed four hits, two runs, zero walks and struck out four. Both of the runs given up by Price were from solo homers off the bats of Jose Iglesias and Jack Mayfield. Other than the home runs, Price looked really good in the contest and only tossed 62 pitches. Manager Dave Roberts has been pretty consistent about yanking Price before the sixth inning, which is why he has not produced a quality start. Despite that, Price has been performing well for the Dodgers and makes for a good option in mixed leagues. He is now 4-1 with a 3.53 ERA in 29 games (eight starts). His next start will come on Thursday versus the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fri Jul 30 202118:45Monster trade: Dodgers get Scherzer, Turner from Nationals
PHOENIX (AP) — A dizzying trade deadline saw the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers pull off the biggest whopper of them all. The Dodgers acquired three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer and All-Star shortstop Trea Turner, finalizing the deal for the dynamic duo from the Washington Nationals shortly before Friday's cutoff for making swaps. Washington acquired a pair of rookies, right-hander Josiah Gray and catcher Keibert Ruiz, and two minor leaguers, righty Gerardo Carrillo and outfielder Donovan Casey. The Nationals, who have fallen out of playoff contention made several trades in 24 hours to dismantle a roster that won the World Series in 2019 over the Houston Astros. “When I took a step back and made that look, I didn’t see a path to be a World Series caliber team this year, so I felt it was time to take a step sideways to allow us to take a step forward and get back to where we’re supposed to be, which is a championship-caliber organization,” Nationals general manager... LOS ANGELES (AP) — The World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers pulled off a monster deal for ace Max Scherzer and All-Star shortstop Trea Turner, getting the dynamic duo from the Washington Nationals shortly before Friday's trade deadline. Washington acquired a pair of rookies, right-hander Josiah Gray and catcher Keibert Ruiz, and two minor leaguers, righty Gerardo Carrillo and outfielder Donovan Casey. Scherzer had been given permission to speak to the Dodgers to see if he would waive his right to veto any trade, a power he had as a 10-year veteran who has been with his team for at least five years. “Today is heart wrenching as we say goodbye to two of the most accomplished players and two of the best people in our team’s history," Nationals owner Mark Lerner said in a statement. The deal came with the Dodgers three games behind NL West-leading San Francisco. Los Angeles owns the top spot in the wild-card race, 2 1/2 games ahead of San Diego.
